So, I knitted this hat and snood with knitting needles from a very thick half-woolen yarn, the name of which, alas, I do not remember. Huge balls lay with us for a long time and waited in the wings - finally, it struck!

I can also advise you a plump, bulky SUPERLANA MAXI yarn from Alize (100 m / 100 g), for which knitting needles # 7 and # 8 are also suitable (I knitted this set with them).

Knitting hats

On knitting needles # 7, we collect 54 loops and knit one row with Elastic band 2 x 2: knit 1, * purl 2, knit 2 * (from * to * repeat to the end of the row, then knit after the asterisk), knit 1.

Then we continue to knit (click on the link), starting with purl 1. We repeat from the 1st to the 4th row twice and we get a cap lapel.

We continue knitting with an elastic band 2 x 2 - 6 rows, after which we evenly add 26 loops (1 loop every 2 loops, not counting the hem) - 80 loops on the needles.

This completes the reduction, cut the thread, leaving its section for sewing, pass this thread through 14 loops, tighten and sew the cap.

For the pompom, we cut out two circles from cardboard: the outer one is 11 cm in diameter, the inner one is 3 cm. Further (by clicking on the link, you will be taken to a page with a detailed description of this process) and sew it tightly to the cap.

And although the hat turned out to be very warm, in winter winds, unfortunately, it is not an obstacle, therefore, without an inner lining cap made of soft tissue or yarn is indispensable here.

It turned out to be easier for me to knit the inner cap than to sew, although years earlier I really liked sewing (if you want, you can not knit it).

Inner cap with knitting needles

To knit an inner hat, I decided to use the recently acquired novelty of the season - sectional yarn SHOW PUNTOBATIKDESIGN(170 m \ 100 g) Turkish brand Alize.

And although the composition of the yarn is 100% anti-pilling acrylic, the thread is not squeaky, but very soft, velvety, and even plump (for knitting needles No. 5-6), so knitting from it is a pleasure! 😉

So, we retreat from the fold of the cap on the inside of 1-1, 5 cm and with circular or stocking needles No. 5 we type (pry on) 52 loops. Then we take the thread of the above-described yarn and begin to knit with the front loops, adding every 2 loops on the 1st loop, in total we add 26 loops, 78 loops on the needles.

We knit straight (in a circle) 12 cm, then we proceed to the decrease: we knit together the front one every 12th and 13th loops, thus evenly we decrease 6 loops - on the needles 72 loops.

Next, we make decreases in the 6th circular row and then in every 2nd row, knitting together the front one at first every 8th and 9th, then 7th and 8th, 6th and 5th, etc. until there are 8 loops on the needles. We cut the thread, leaving a small segment, which we stretch through these loops and fasten.

The inner cap turned out to be plump, but at the same time soft and not at all prickly, unlike the outer cap.

Knitting snood

For knitting a snood, I decided to use thicker knitting needles - No. 8 and only one pattern - "Flagellum with holes". Therefore, knitting this snood with knitting needles is very simple and quick.

So, on the needles number 8, using, we collect 82 loops. We knit the first preparatory row with purl loops, then, starting after the edge with the 1st purl, we knit with the "Flagellum with holes" pattern, only the number of purl loops between the "flagella" is not 2 loops, as in the description of the pattern, but 3 loops.

Having knitted 9 cm from the beginning, we reduce the number of purl loops between the "flagella" to 2, on the needles 66 loops.

Having knitted 17 cm from the beginning of work (this is the place where the snood is folded), we reduce the number of purl loops between the "flagella" to the 1st one, 51 loops on the needles.

After 5 cm of this knitting we restore the number of purl loops to 2 - on the needles 66 loops, and after another 5 cm - up to 3 loops between the "flagella" - on the needles 82 loops. At a distance of 16 cm from the bend of the loop, we do not close it tightly and sew the snood.
