Now we have a golden autumn and housewives’ shelves are bursting with jars of prepared ingredients: pickles, preserves.

And I propose to extend autumn by sewing charming potholders! I really love apples, so I’ll have apple oven mitts! Potholders can be different colors, just like apples. Sew the ones you like. I’ll make potholders red-yellow!

For sewing you will need strips of fabric different lengths, width from 2 to 4 cm. I have these, all sorts of different scraps left over from various sewing projects.

The good thing about these potholders is that even the smallest scraps will fit here.

First you need to draw a pattern of an apple on paper. If you don’t feel like drawing, you can copy mine directly from your computer monitor.

According to the pattern, we cut out one piece from the auxiliary fabric, onto which we will sew strips of fabric.
Color special significance it doesn’t, but it’s better to have some kind of calm, plain fabric.
Cut this part about 1.5-2 cm larger than the pattern.

In the middle of this part we pin a small square piece measuring approximately 3*3 cm.
There is no need for precision here; you can cut all the shreds by hand.

In patchwork sewing, this method of sewing is called differently: hut, well, etc.
Strips of fabric are sewn in a circle to each other.

We apply a strip of the same length to this square. The width of the stripes is at your discretion.

We attach the strip and bend it.
You can, if you have an ironing board and iron nearby, immediately iron the sewn patches.
Or run along the bent strip with a fingernail, a small ruler, or a stick.
Ideally, of course, it is better to constantly run to the iron. It will turn out much neater.

So, we turned away the sewn strip, ironed it and applied the next piece.
Apply in a circular motion clockwise.

Half the work is already done!

And here is the other side of the semi-finished product coin

We attach the pattern and trim off the excess fabric.

Now let’s take the lining, the gasket and put together such a sandwich: at the bottom is the lining with the wrong side up, then the gasket (I have a layer of synthetic padding) and on top is our sewn, ironed part.
We pin our delicious sandwich and stitch it a little along the seams.

Here's the inside out of what a labyrinth turned out to be! :)

Trim off the excess.

From a dark strip of 12*3 cm we will sew a loop-stick for hanging.
And we attach it to the back of the potholder.

P.S. The loop can then be sewn to the finished edged potholder.

But I wanted to make sure that there were no raw edges of the loop at the back.

Now we need an edging cut on the bias.
I cut out a edging 4-4.25 cm wide.
You can buy ready-made edging at a sewing store.

We process our product with edging.
There are several ways to sew on edging; each craftswoman does what is convenient for her.
I think we have master classes on sewing edging at the Crafts Fair, so I won’t dwell on this operation.

IN in this case I stitched the edging with reverse side potholders to the width of the foot, trimmed the corners, unfolded the edge to the top of the potholder, folded it over and stitched it.

If you doubt that you will not be able to sew the edging beautifully, then sew it not with a straight stitch, but with some kind of decorative stitch that is on your sewing machine.

Cut out a leaf from green felt (you can also sew a leaf from fabric).
Sew the leaf onto the button.

Our delicious apple is ready!

I sewed several pot holders at once, and what delicious, juicy apples I got!

And you?

Such potholders can be used not only as “grabs” for pots and pans, but also as coasters for drinks.

P.S. You can also sew potholders in this way - pears, pumpkins, berries, etc.

You just have to want it.

Isn't it true?

Have a good, warm, wonderful autumn everyone!

Potholder Sunflower

We knit the front side using the same principle. Only now we add another yellow thread to create a variegated surface.

When the second circle is knitted, you need to take both parts and connect them along the edge to each other using two yellow threads (in 2 threads) with single crochets.

The sunflower is almost ready, there are still petals left. The petals are knitted in the round. For this thread yellow color in one loop we knit - 2 dc, 1 dc2h, 2 dc. Having skipped one stitch, fasten it in the next one. We knit this way along the entire edge. All that remains is to knit a loop by which you can hang the sunflower. To do this, between the petals you need to knit a chain of 20 VPs and then tie it with an RLS and secure it well. The sunflower is ready!

Now we knit the head. We start knitting from the edge of the circle. We knit 8 sc, turning over, we knit another 8 sc. Turn it over again and knit 6 sc, making one decrease on each side, turn it over and make 2 more decreases along the edges. The thread was secured.

Now we make the binding and loop. We start on the opposite side of the ladybug's head. We tie the sc in a circle, and, having knitted in a circle, we make a loop of 10-15 VP. Knit six spots, each of which has three circular rows (based on the principle of knitting the base of a potholder). Sew on circles and make eyes from either beads or white yarn. Tack Ladybug ready!

Potholder Peacock

You will need:

  • threads of different colors;
  • hook;
  • sequin;
  • thread;
  • needle.

Description

Torso

The Peacock potholder starts with knitting the warp. Cast on a chain of 3 VPs.

1 rub. – knit 7 PS in a circle.
2 r. – we make increases (17 dc).
3 r. – 37 SSN.
4 rub. – 50 SSN.

Tail

The peacock is a creature with a gorgeous tail! Therefore, try to choose the threads to reflect the beauty of the tail. We knit an odd number of fans. They are knitted by knitting several DCs into one loop. We knit 4-5 rows in different colors. In each row we increase the number of loops in the fans.

We tie it with the same thread that was used to tie the body.

Good afternoon, dear needlewomen, all readers and friends of the blog!

I haven’t had any new ideas for knitted potholders for a long time, but we often need them for the kitchen, since the old ones quickly become unusable if used for their intended purpose.

Today I have an interesting selection for you: crocheted potholders. They are made of circles, completely simple, but so cute, funny and cheerful: these are potholders in the form of fruits, berries and citrus fruits, as well as in the form of animals.

I found the photo in various Internet sources, and knitted the potholder in the shape of a frog myself.

They are so easy to knit that you don’t even need patterns. And I will describe some points.

Crocheted oven mitts for the kitchen: a description of the general principles of knitting

You can knit potholders from any yarn: thin or medium thickness; usually we use the leftovers we have accumulated, since the consumption is not at all large.

Choose the yarn color according to natural color one fruit or another.

The hook naturally matches the thickness of the thread.

As you can see in the photo, the basis of all such crocheted potholders is a circle.

You can knit in single crochets or single crochets at your discretion. It is better to tie the last row with single crochets, at the same time making a loop: a chain of VP and connecting ones along it.

And although I’m talking about potholders, such products are also suitable for.

How to knit a round part of a potholder

Everyone probably knows the rules for knitting a circle. But not everyone, especially beginners, knows one small nuance of a perfectly even circle.

The principle most often used is that when knitting a circle, increments are made evenly, first in each stitch, then through one stitch, in the next row - through two stitches, through 3, 4, 5, and so on.

At the same time, if you adhere to generally accepted patterns and always make increases in the same place, then the circle will not be round at all, but with wedges, since between the places of increases, knitting in a straight line will increase.

Therefore, I would advise making increases row by row in different places: either at the beginning of the row, or in the middle part between the places of increases.

In other words: we start one row immediately with an increase, and in next increase We do not do it right away, but through several knitted single stitches.

Let's say, if the 3rd row began like this: 2VP, 2SC in one column of the previous row (increase), 1 SC and so on, then in the 4th row you should knit like this:

2VP, 1 RLS without increase, 2 RLS (increase), 2 RLS.

5th row: 2 VP, 2 RLS (increase), 3 RLS.

6th row: 2 VP, 2 RLS without increase, 2 RLS (increase), 4 RLS.

7th row: 2 VP, 2 RLS (increase), 5 RLS.

8th row: 2 VP, 3 RLS without increase, 2 RLS (increase), 6 RLS.

7th row: 2 VP, 2 RLS (increase), 7 RLS.

9th row: 2 VP, 4 RLS without increase, 2 RLS (increase), 8 RLS.

With this knitting the circle will turn out even, exactly round.

Leaves

You can knit simple leaves to all potholders using the same pattern:

Here we collect a chain, knit single crochets and double crochets along it according to the pattern on one side, then turn the knitting and knit stitches on the other side.

Knitted citrus and fruit potholders

Potholders in the form of slices of citrus fruits or fruits and berries are knitted with threads of different colors.

For example, for a watermelon the center is red, then rows of crimson, white and green.

In the photo shown, when knitting potholders, rows of single crochets and rows of single crochets alternate.

For kiwi, you can use pistachio, white and green.

After the circle is knitted, it is embroidered with threads of black or Brown seeds.

Using the same principle, you can knit an orange, lemon, grapefruit and other potholders by embroidering “vein” lines on them.

How to correctly attach a thread of a different color

If you attach a thread of a new color at the beginning of knitting the corresponding row, then at the junction there will be an unsightly “protrusion” of the color of the previous row (circled in red in the photo).

To prevent this from happening, we do the following.

At the end of knitting a row, before connecting the last stitch with the first one in the circle, attach a thread of a different color, insert the hook under the chain loop of the beginning of the row, grab a new thread and pull it through the loops on the hook.

Oven slices of orange, lemon

Such cute slices. I imagined how beautiful they would look in the kitchen, such decor made from different citrus fruits.

For tack in the shape of an orange, use threads of light orange, white and bright orange; for lemon – two shades of yellow and white.

After the circle is knitted, it is folded in half diagonally and connected by tying it with single crochets.

For the “veins,” chains of air loops are knitted and sewn.

Funny potholders with eyes

Crocheted potholders can be decorated not only with leaves and embroidered seeds, but also to create a fairy-tale image by sewing or gluing eyes, a nose and even blush on the cheeks.

Apple potholders

To give the shape of an apple close to the natural one, while tying the last row of the circle in the lower part, you need to make a smooth transition from single crochets to double crochets, then knit a couple of sc and again C1H.

Knitted potholders - animals

You can easily turn crocheted circles into different animals by giving them eyes, ears and noses, like a pig’s.

Mouse mitt

For the New Year 2020, you can knit a potholder in the shape of a rat or mouse. There are different versions of these, there are elongated shapes, there are different ones. But I liked the round mouse (photo from the Masters Fair).

Its basis is the same circle with a loop of air when tying the last row.

Ears can be knitted like this: cast on a small chain and knit several rows straight, and then decrease each row on both sides to make a semicircle. Tie the finished pink ear with gray threads.

The eyes and nose are small knitted circles, we embroider the mustache and mouth.

Potholder - frog

Well, for now I knitted a potholder - a frog, so that it would attract good luck and wealth to the house. I just really liked this idea that I saw on the internet, and I collect frogs. I was talking about this and my own a long time ago
