Possible reasons for the appearance

Unfortunately, beautiful warm and cold shades of blonde sometimes form yellow hair after dyeing. A large number of women faced such an unpleasant surprise. Instead of the chosen color, the head becomes like a dandelion. Various means come into play against the obsessive tone. But most often the decision is made to repaint in a darker color to hide the yellowness.

You have to give up the dream of transforming into a light tone, and many disown the secondary use of brightening agents because of fear and negative experience. And in vain, you can overcome the unexpected effect, but at the same time it is important to take care of a gentle approach. After all, when deciding on repainting, women again expose the hairline to stress and the action of harmful chemical components.

What can cause the formation of yellowness?

In fact, there are several reasons:

  • the presence of ammonia in the composition of the coloring agent;
  • strong natural pigmentation inherent in the owners of dark hair;
  • if a dark color was used in the previous staining;
  • in case of overexposure of paint;
  • poor quality of the dye;
  • poor quality of water, which rinses off the dye.

To prevent the appearance of an unwanted shade, different methods and funds. For example, professional washes... But resort to this way often it is impossible, since the procedure itself is traumatic for the hair structure. The idea is to force the flakes to open and wash out the coloring pigment. On a weakened hairline, such methods are dangerous. Yes, and they need to be carried out only with the participation of a master who will assess the condition of the hair and the possible consequences.

Balms are another matter. The sparing effect is due to the presence of nutritious oils, restorative elements and vitamins in the composition.

When lightening applied in different techniques coloring, it is recommended to apply products (shampoos, balms, masks) containing a special violet pigment after washing off the dye. It is just designed to remove yellowness. However, using this component, you should follow all the recommendations from the instructions. If the product is overexposed, the shade will become lilac or even inky, and it will no longer be possible to wash it off with water.

If you follow simple tips, yellowness can be prevented even before the staining procedure:

  • brittle and split hair must first be treated and restored to its structure; uneven distribution of dye on weakened hair can give yellowness;
  • staining should be done only 2 weeks after;
  • a natural dark color in any case gives a yellow tint, a master should know about this, who can choose the right products;
  • you need to choose a paint only after consulting a hairdresser who is aware of the properties and compositions of different brands;
  • it is better to use products that do not contain ammonia, the color is bright light on a dark base may not work, but there will be no yellowness;
  • it must be remembered that lightening consists of several stages, after discoloration, tinting must be followed.

At times blonde hair acquire a yellow tint due to external factors: unsuccessful toning due to improperly selected hair color, some folk methods improving the quality of curls (for example, rinsing hair with vinegar). Many ladies dream of dyeing their hair blonde at least once in their lives. If a representative of the fair sex is naturally red, black, chestnut or dark blond, then to realize the dream you will have to resort to discoloration. If this procedure is performed incorrectly, then instead of blond curls, straw or yellow strands will be reflected in the mirror. Such yellowness is always striking. Moreover, she looks ugly and vulgar. Such an unnatural shade is usually obtained as a result of poor-quality staining.

After an unsuccessful procedure, any girl looks for effective method to get rid of the yellow color. Fortunately, there is a solution to the problem.

To eliminate such a drawback, you must first establish the reason for which the strands have acquired a yellowish tint. Thanks to this approach, the ladies will be able to avoid such a mistake during subsequent staining.

Experts identify several reasons for yellowness:

Incorrect staining. It is not uncommon for hair to turn yellow due to the use of cheap or expired hair dyes. Also, the reason may lie in a violation of the order of the procedure. Failure to comply with the staining rules can lead to disastrous results. And usually it concerns the overexposure of paint. Performing bleaching should only be trusted by a professional who knows his job well and will protect the strands from yellowness.

Improper rinsing. Hair immediately after bleaching becomes defenseless. They can be seriously affected by negative external factors. If you wash off the paint with plain water, then the iron salts and rust in its composition will fall into the open scales, thereby causing an unnatural yellowness. For this reason, only purified water should be used for rinsing.

Discoloration of black strands. When dyeing black or very dark hair blond, yellowness is considered a natural phenomenon. This is because the natural pigment tries to maintain its superiority. For the curls to become truly white, you will have to bleach several times, but this can seriously damage the strands. It is best to consult with an experienced professional before the procedure.

You need to think carefully which of these factors took place in a particular case. Do not repeat such mistakes again. If your hair still turns yellow, you can fix the problem at home.

How to remove yellowness from hair?

To remove yellowness, you can use different ways... Their number is huge, but not all girls know about them.

For washing your hair, you should use "silver" shampoos. They contain a rich purple pigment, which neutralizes the yellow color well and gives the curls a natural white tint. You should not overexpose such shampoos, because as a result, the color of the strands can become ashy and even light lilac.

A good remedy for yellowness is tint balms and shampoos in platinum, silver, pearl or pearl tones.

Use filtered water to rinse your hair. Ideally, it should be mixed with rhubarb infusion, which has whitening properties. For 1 liter of water, 1-2 glasses of infusion are enough. You can also add a little lemon juice to the rinse water. You should refrain from using pharmacy chamomile, because it is she who gives the strands a yellow tint.
Naturally, you should not immediately apply all of these methods in turn. This can only worsen the condition of the hair, which has already become weaker from discoloration. To begin with, you should choose only one method. If it does not improve the situation, then another remedy can be tried in at least 2-3 days.

Homemade anti-yellow masks

Many experienced masters say that ordinary masks made with their own hands from natural products do an excellent job with yellowness. Thanks to their use, the shade of the hair will gradually begin to approach the natural white.

The yellowness of the curls can disappear under the influence of active natural substances, which are found in the composition of ordinary herbs and natural products. If you regularly apply homemade masks, then the shade of the strands will become white and beautiful. The condition of the hair after bleaching and dyeing will also improve. Naturally, masks should not be overused. It is enough to use them 1-2 times a week. In order for the active ingredients to be absorbed into the hair and displace the yellow pigment, leave the product on the curls for about 30 minutes.

The most common recipes are:

It is necessary to gently melt the honey in a water bath. The finished mass is generously applied to the yellowed strands. After that, you should insulate the hair. To do this, just put a shower cap on your head and Warm scarf... You can keep such a composition for a maximum of 3 hours.

Dried rhubarb root should be purchased from your pharmacy. It must be crushed thoroughly. Further 1 tbsp. l. the finished powder is poured into 500 ml of white wine. The mixture is poured into a container and put on a small fire. When half of the liquid has evaporated, the product is filtered and cooled to room temperature.

50 ml of fresh warm kefir should be mixed with 2 tbsp. l. vodka and an identical amount of lemon juice. You also need to add a beaten egg and 1 tsp to the container. shampoo. Then the mixture is thoroughly mixed and applied to the strands.

150 g of dry rhubarb root must be carefully chopped and covered with a glass of boiling water. After that, 60 g of glycerin is added to the infusion. The mixture should be infused for half an hour.

Such recipes for masks make it easy to cope with the problem of yellowness at home. Now you can safely do without the help of masters and regular visits to the salon. It is enough to choose the right product and use it regularly. If you decide to discolor again, then make sure that you do not make past mistakes that can lead to unpleasant results.

We continue the theme of yellow hair. In the last article, we discussed the reasons for the yellowness of dyed hair in brown-haired women, and today it is the turn of women with hair color that gentlemen prefer!

Yellowness is almost the most a big problem blond hair. I know many women who changed their minds to bleach their hair just because they were afraid of the notorious yellowness. What, after all, happens to the hair in the process of lightening or bleaching, and why is the cold tone washed off so quickly in platinum blondes?

A very important clarification: everything written below applies only to natural hair... Previously colored hair will be discussed in future articles!

To begin with, there are two ways to do dark hair light:

- coloring
- discoloration

It may seem that these are exactly the same processes, but they are not. Dyeing extra-lightening dyes (11th or 12th row of the palette, depending on the manufacturer) are carried out on 9% or 12% oxidants, which partially dissolve the natural pigment. Such dyes are used from 7-8 levels of natural hair color.
Bleaching- complete dissolution of natural pigment. This procedure is performed with a bleaching powder (blondoran, supra, bleaching powder - different manufacturers may have their own name for the bleaching powder, but the principle of the product is the same - dissolving the pigment in the hair), which is mixed with an oxidizing agent of the required percentage, from 1.5 % up to 12%.

A number of manufacturers, in addition to bleaching powder or extra-lightening dyes, have oils and bleaching creams in their assortment, which, although they cost more than powder, but work with hair more carefully and give a cleaner background, however, these products, due to the higher price or novelty, are rarely purchased by customers. professional stores, so we will focus on paints and bleaching powder.

As discussed above, extra lightening tones work from 7-8 levels of natural hair color and are diluted with 9% or 12% oxidizer, depending on how many levels of the client's natural hair color need to be lightened. Of course, modern dyes contain caring components and oils that soften the traumatic effect of the oxidizer, but no oils can protect hair from the destructive effect of the 12% oxidizer.
We have already discussed that oxidizer functions are:

- open hair scales
- partially dissolve natural pigment

One of the technologists, whom I had a chance to assist in training seminars on hair dyeing, gave the following comparison:
imagine that the scales are closed doors to the core of the hair. 3% oxidizer opens these doors slowly and carefully, 6% faster and more aggressive, 9% even faster, and 12% is to take out the door "off your feet"!

The knocked-out door can no longer be simply closed; it will either have to be attached somehow or repaired. It is about the same with the hair of blondes, who regularly dye their hair with high percentages of an oxidizer.

porous hair on the left, normal on the right

The scales of their hair no longer fit tightly, (such hair is usually called porous) the color introduced into the hair during dyeing is washed out quickly, moreover, porous hair, like a sponge, absorbs dirt from the outside! It can be, and most often happens, rust from tap water, dust and dirt, coloring components of hair cosmetics and many other substances. Plus the background of hair lightening, which, whether we like it or not, will still appear on the hair after exposure to an oxidizing agent.

So, hair of blondes loses color very quickly and turns yellow due to:

- background lightening (not completely dissolved hair pigment)
- a high percentage of oxidizing agent used for coloring

- lack of toning

If you re-color previously bleached hair with high percentages of oxidizer, no matter with paint or bleaching powder, the problem will only worsen. Dry and porous hair, regularly "burned out" with 9% or 12% oxidizing agent, becomes brittle, thinned and lifeless. It is useless to treat such hair, the only cure in this case is the hairdresser's scissors.

How to be?

Refuse to use high percentages of oxidizing agents and extra-lightening dyes and bleach hair with bleaching powder and low percent oxidizers.

It may seem that such a decision is “an awful lot”. The powder is hard, there are no caring oils in it, but this is a delusion. In the process of bleaching at a low percentage of oxidizing agent (3%, 4.5%), the pigment dissolves more slowly, but much cleaner. This, as the character of the popular cartoon said: "It's better to lose a day, but then fly in five minutes!"

The scheme is simple:
standard "step" 3% oxidizer + bleaching powder - 2-2.5 levels. If natural color hair 6.0, and we want to get 10.0 - we need to overcome 4 levels.
We take a standard portion of the powder (depending on the length), dilute with 3% oxidizing agent in the proportion indicated by the manufacturer. Apply to dry, unwashed hair and wait 45-50 minutes. After the exposure time, we wash off the composition with shampoo WITHOUT BALM (!!! the balm will close the hair scales !!!), dry the hair with a hairdryer at low speed and temperature and repeat the procedure. In theory, after the second time, the hair should reach the desired level, but if you want an even lighter background, you can repeat the procedure a third time! Thus, after two times, you will receive the effect of 6% of the oxidizing agent (2 times 3%) and 9% (three times 3%) after three times, but this will be a gradual "opening of doors", that is, flakes, and not "removal from legs ", and the gradual dissolution of the pigment.

After the bleaching procedure, you MUST do hair toning.
Toning- the process of saturation of bleached hair with pigment.
Often, after mild bleaching, the hair color turns out to be so cold and attractive that you might wonder “why would I want this toning?” However, as we already discussed, bleached hair is empty hair with varying degrees of damage and porosity. If you do not introduce artificial pigment (hair dye) into bleached hair, it will begin to absorb dye particles from water when washing hair, from hair cosmetics and God knows what else, like a sponge, so toning after bleaching is alpha and omega of pure color and lack of yellowness.

To perform toning, it is necessary to dilute the toning dye of the desired color (toning dyes are available in almost all professional brands) with an oxidizer of 1.5-1.9% (depending on the manufacturer) 1: 2 (for one part of the dye 2 parts of the oxidizing agent, for example, 30 g of dye and 60 ml of oxidizer) and apply to damp hair. The exposure time is from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the porosity of the hair.

It should be recalled that after rinsing the bleaching mixture from the hair and washing the hair with shampoo, the balm must not be used before toning. The balm will cover the scales, and the toning will be superficial, which means it will wash off in a record short time... After aging the toning mixture, you should also wash your hair with shampoo and apply a regenerating balm.

So, to summarize the above:

- so that blonde hair does not turn yellow, it is necessary to abandon conventional or professional extra-lightening dyes
- use a gentle bleaching scheme
- after the bleaching procedure, perform hair toning

Taking proper care of bleached hair also plays an important role, and yet the main hair problems arise from improper coloring, and not from improper care.

Hopefully this article has answered some questions about yellow hair. And next time we'll talk about semi-permanent dyes.
