With age, sometimes there is an irresistible desire to remember your childhood, to feel some nostalgia for the times of the USSR. For some reason New Year in the Soviet manner, it most reminds those who are over thirty of the times that, despite the scarcity, you remember with rapture of the heart, considering them to be the best.
Now the tendency to celebrate the New Year in the style of the USSR has increased. The Christmas tree, dressed up according to the American model in three colors, is no longer surprising. More and more I want to decorate the Christmas tree with old Soviet toys. And be sure to put cotton under it, imitating snow, and tangerines.
Variety of Christmas decorations
Often, the Christmas tree in Soviet families was dressed up with an abundance of toys and decorations. Special attention deserve clothespin toys, which are very convenient to attach to the middle of the Christmas tree branch. In the form of which only they were not presented: Santa Claus, Snowman, Snow Maiden, candle, nesting doll.
The balls, as now, were of different sizes, but the unique highlight was in the balls with round hollows, into which the light of the garlands fell, creating a fabulous illumination throughout the Christmas tree. There were also phosphor-patterned balls that glowed in the dark.
Since the New Year comes at midnight, clock-shaped toys were produced. They were given a central place on the tree. Often such Soviet Christmas decorations hung at the very top, just below the top of the head, which, of course, was decorated with a red star - the main Soviet symbol.
Even Christmas decorations of those times were represented by decorations made of large glass beads and beads. Usually they were hung on the lower or middle branches. Old Soviet toys, especially pre-war ones, are carefully stored and passed from grandmothers to grandchildren.
From icicles, houses, watches, animals, balls, stars, a unique one was obtained.

There was no such fluffy and voluminous rain as now in the days of Soviet socialism. The Christmas tree was decorated with vertical rain and beads. A little later, a horizontal rain appeared, but it was not thick and voluminous. Some voids on the Christmas tree were filled with garlands and sweets.

To make a soft Christmas toy "Owl with multi-colored feathers" you will need:
- any black fabric;
- patches of fleece or felt in dark brown, light brown, black, white and yellow flowers(you can use shreds and other colors)
- sequins and beads of green or any other color;
- threads of white, yellow, black and green colors;
- a needle;
- scissors
- cotton wool or synthetic winterizer
- a narrow satin ribbon of light green color.
The procedure for making a Christmas tree toy "Owl with multi-colored feathers"
1. Draw a toy pattern on paper. We need to draw the main detail round shape, a spot under the eye of an oval shape, a round eye, a triangular beak, feathers for the head and torso of a triangular shape.
2. Cut out the necessary parts from the fabric - two main parts from black fabric, two parts of the beak from black fleece, four parts of feathers for the head from dark brown fleece, two parts of spots under the eyes from yellow fleece or felt, two parts of the eyes from white felt or fleece.
3. From dark brown and light brown fleece we will cut out feathers with which we will sheathe our toy.
4. Sew the main details along the edge with a line seam, leaving a hole through which we can then turn this part out and stuff it with cotton.
5. Sew together the details of the yellow spots and eyes, cut out of white felt or fleece. From black felt or fleece, cut out two parts of the pupil in the form of two circles with a diameter of 2 cm each.
6. Sew in pairs the details of the feathers for the head. We will sew the feathers with a looped seam, black or brown threads.
7. We sew two parts of the beak along the edge with black threads with a buttonhole seam.
8. Turn the main part on the front side, stuff it with padding polyester or cotton and sew up the hole through which we turned and stuffed this part.
9. In the upper part of the toy, sew feathers made of dark brown fleece.
10. Sew our owl a feathered feathered coat of light brown fleece. After sew a row of light brown feathers at the bottom of the toy.
11. Above this row, sew a row of dark brown feathers, and above it a row of light brown feathers.
12. Sew on a beak sewn from black felt or fleece over a row of light brown fleece feathers.
13. In the upper part of the toy, sew eyes, previously sewn from yellow, white and black fabric. Decorate the eyes along the edge - sew green sequins and beads. So our owl will turn out more elegant and festive.
15. Let's make a loop for our toy so that it can be hung on spruce branch. To do this, take a narrow satin ribbon of light green (or any other color), cut off a piece 19 cm long from it. Fold this segment in half and carefully sew it to the back of the toy.
