Jewelry using quilling technique for beginners. Master class with step-by-step photos. DIY quilling jewelry. Fashion trend in the world of handmade How to make all these quilling figures is shown in the video

Quilling has been known for hundreds of years. What is quilling? This is a technique of creating various shapes from strips of paper by twisting them onto special tools. These figures are used to create stunningly beautiful paintings and various crafts.

The quilling technique can also be used to make jewelry.

Short list necessary materials includes strips of tissue paper, glue, and tools used to curl the paper. In online stores you can find a huge variety of everything you need for quilling. There are also stencils with shapes.

You can use regular paper glue, but the best thing is transparent glue, which, unlike regular white glue, will not be noticeable. Instead of special tools for rolling paper, you can use an awl, knitting needle or pencil.

Of the special tools, there are 2 main types: slot and needle. Slot tools are easy to use, but the slot leaves an uneven center on the spool. The needle tool is a little more difficult to master, but the spool will come out with a perfectly round center.

The main form of quilling is a coil, from which various shapes are then formed. To make a tightly rolled spool, insert the tip of a paper strip into the slot of a crevice tool or wrap it around a quilling needle. Roll the paper by rotating the tool in one hand while supporting and aligning the strip with the other. The end of the strip is smeared with glue and secured.

To make an open coil, start as before, then remove it from the tool and let it unravel. Secure the end of the strip with glue. This coil is the base for all other forms that we will show.

Quilling forms

1. Press the loose spool on one side with your fingers to create a teardrop shape.

2. By various methods bending can be used to make curved shapes from the teardrop shape. By bending the shape slightly with your fingers, you can achieve a slight bend.

3. And by pressing and bending it around a tube - a more curved shape.

4. By twisting the tip towards the center, we get the following figure.

5. Squeeze both ends of the spool to create this shape. You can create different centers with your fingers.

6. From the previous shape we make this one by bending the ends in opposite directions.

7. We also make shape No. 5, then squeeze it between our fingers as in the photo.

8. Make shape No. 5, pinch the sides on four sides, give it a square shape. It comes out with a round center.

9. Squeeze the shape No. 5 with your fingers so that it becomes flat and straighten it into reverse side. Forming a square.

10. Pinch all 4 corners without pressing the center. We get a square with a square center.

11. Squeeze figure No. 5 with your fingers on each of the four sides as in the photo. Different pressure will create different centers.

12. First pinch form No. 5 on both sides, then turn and pinch on the other two to get a rectangle. A rhombus is made in the same way as a square, but we do not straighten it.

13. Make figure No. 5. Pinch corners in random places. Form the desired shape.

14. Make figure No. 1. Move the center closer to one side and then pinch at the bottom on both sides.

15. Press the previous shape around the handle to create this shape.

16. This figure is made from a teardrop shape. Squeeze it on one more side.

17. Make figure No. 1 and then figure No. 14. Pinch the rounded top. Create a triangle. By squeezing the shape in different places, you can create different shapes.

18. Press figure No. 1 in the upper round part with the tip of the tool. Use your fingers to smooth out the curve.

19. Making form No. 1. Press the tool in the rounded part as in the photo.

20. Making figure No. 16. We pinch two more sides. And pinch at the highest point. This results in the shape of a house. You can form a star.

21. Making figure No. 1. We hold the sharp end, pinch the opposite end and, without letting go, press it towards the center. Align the edges.

22. Making shape No. 5. Use tweezers to hold the center. We pinch the top and bottom of the edges in two places as in the photo.

How to make all these quilling figures is shown in the video:

By practicing with the shapes, you can make a variety of earrings.

Materials:

  • quilling paper
  • ear wires
  • rings
  • paper rolling tool

Earrings are made easily using the quilling technique. We make shapes out of paper and glue them together with glue. It is best to coat the earrings with varnish, so they will be stronger. Next, insert the rings and earrings.

Paper earring ideas

Hello friends! Until recently, I was fully confident that products made using the quilling technique requiring delicate handling were mainly destined for static use - hung on a wall or, for example, on a Christmas tree, placed on a shelf or table and admired. :) But, as it turned out, in this type of needlework there exists and is quite successfully developing such a direction, seemingly incompatible with the fragility of the material, as quilling jewelry. Imagine: earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings made of paper - all this is as functional as it is beautiful. Moreover, absolutely anyone can make jewelry using the quilling technique with their own hands; you just need to master the basic technology. And Ekaterina Shkodovskaya will help us with this.

So, using a simple example, I will show how you can simple materials make exclusive jewelry using the quilling technique.

We will make a jewelry set of earrings and a bracelet.

And for this we will need the following materials and tools:

quilling paper,

quilling tool,

PVA glue,

metal rings, earrings and a clasp for a bracelet.

Let's start with the selection color range future decoration. I want to make my own kit in nautical style, so I chose white and blue colors for paper strips for quilling.

Take half a white strip and begin to roll it tightly. Already at the very end of the strip we glue half of the strip to it of blue color and continue to wind up.

We make sure that our roll does not accidentally unravel. It should remain tight and dense.

Having tightened the blue strip, we glue the white one again, but not half, but a whole one. Since the diameter of the roll is gradually increasing, we now need a longer strip.

We continue to wind up. Then glue the blue one again...

According to my plan, the earrings will not be very large in diameter, so after the blue one I wind only 1.5 more white stripes. At the very end, you need to secure the metal ring (I opened it with scissors in advance) by passing a couple of turns of a paper strip through it.

We repeat this whole procedure a second time - and the earrings are ready.

2. Bracelet made using quilling technique.

Since we are talking about a single set of jewelry, we will make the component links of the bracelet according to exactly the same principle as the earrings. Just keep in mind that you need to insert 2 metal rings into each element of the bracelet, placing them on opposite sides.

Then, with the help of these rings, all the elements are connected into a chain.

We try the workpiece on our hand.

If necessary, lengthen the bracelet by adding more roll elements. Having received right size, attach the clasp.

That's all, the set of paper jewelry is ready. All that remains is to coat it with varnish or, if there is no varnish, you can thoroughly coat the product with PVA glue and then spray it with hairspray.

Thus, by showing a little imagination and playing with color, you can turn the most beautiful jewelry into quilling jewelry. different patterns and images and create original jewelry to your own taste and mood. :)

For example, you can make funny fish earrings for a girl - from wave elements and two curls. Or geometric earrings - made from a rectangular outline and circles of different sizes glued into it.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in the technology of creating jewelry from paper. If you know how to do basic quilling elements, then you are already capable of a lot =).

See what earrings can be made from ordinary small rolls and a pair of paper rings:

or from the “drop” elements:

And here’s the floral design for earrings that self-taught quilling artist Victoria Brewer from Great Britain came up with:

By the way, quilling flowers, for example, roses, can become a wonderful decorative element for jewelry

or fringed flowers.

Even in vegetables and fruits you can find a source of inspiration for creating intricate jewelry, as Ukrainian quilling artist Katya Wroblewska did (http://kasia-wroblewska.blogspot.in).

Earrings - carrots or earrings - tangerine - in my opinion, just a great accessory for a holiday party or carnival. Looking at them, it’s impossible not to smile :)

Quilling is an art of needlework, of which today there are two schools - European and Eastern. In the European direction, not much attention is paid to details, and products are made simple and concise. Quite often you can find quilling details in the form of drops, only in this art it is called a fish. Such details can be found in the decoration of clothing, carpets, and textiles throughout almost the entire territory of South Asia. The difference between east and west quilling is that it displays different views about the time. Namely, Western technologies are always ahead and the same can be said about quilling. Western art is very diverse, colorful and contains many different patterns.

DIY quilling style jewelry is simply incomparable, but to make it beautiful, stylish and fashionable, you need to prepare properly. In particular, a carefully equipped work area is initially required. It is worth noting that quilling is an interesting, but very painstaking activity that requires attention, accuracy and painstakingness.

You need to work in a chair so that your hands do not go numb and your back does not become numb when making the product.

Quilling products are created from many modules - paper strips twisted into spirals. The shapes of the modules can be very different: square, round, in the form of a droplet, an eye, a fish, and so on.

The manufacturing technique is generally the same:

  1. Take a paper strip.
  2. You need to sharply run a ruler or fingernail along it, which will cause it to twist a little.
  3. Next, the paper should be tightly curled onto the tip of the awl or fork from the needle.
  4. The paper is removed from the awl and twisted by hand.
  5. When finished, you need to loosen the spiral a little and give its outer contour the desired look.
  6. The tip of the paper is attached with PVA glue to the adjacent strip.

The modules can be used to create paintings, decor and interior compositions.

  5. Next, each module is carefully glued to the others.
  6. Be sure to decorate the product with beads, beads or sparkles.

Necklaces in the style of natural motifs look especially original, and the quilling technique itself adds creativity and unusualness. What is needed for production? Satin threads, paper strips or any other fabric, as well as the desire to create.

PVA glue is the most best option in order to make various and in particular voluminous jewelry and at the same time eliminate the leftovers yellow spots glue residue on paper.

The main tool is a special fork for twisting modules. It is worth noting that there is no need to spend money on purchasing it, since you can do it yourself.

It is enough to take a bottle cap or a piece of foam, as well as a needle with the largest eye from the set. It is the eyelet that will be used to curl the paper. Over time, you will need to purchase more professional tools in order to produce modules and products of the highest complexity, as well as the most creative type.

Handmade jewelry - great way Express your individuality and show your creativity. Jewelry using the quilling technique looks easy and original. You can experiment with different color combinations using a minimum of materials.

To make the first pendant we will need:
1. 3mm quilling paper in walnut, light brown and light orange colors;
2. template for quilling (you can do without it), tweezers, scissors, PVA glue, toothpick;

So let's get to work.

First, let's trace with a pencil the outline of an oak leaf from a picture we like, for example, like this one.

Now let's lay out a strip of walnut color on the veins of the leaf using stationery pins, like this.

After completing this stage, the workpiece must be removed from the base and dried so that it does not stick to it.

Let's make rolls of different sizes from light orange paper, using whole strips and half strips.

You may also need very small rolls made from one-fourth of a strip of paper. I made a lot of them, but only used one.

Let's return the veins of the leaf to the base and begin to fill the leaf with rolls, first giving them the shape of an eye or a drop.

Remove the leaf again to dry. This is what happened.

Next, you need to paste over the leaf with a walnut-colored strip along the contour to give it integrity.

This is what a finished oak leaf looks like.

Now let's make an acorn. Take 3 strips of light brown color and glue them together. Let's do the same with the walnut-colored stripes.

Let's roll them into tight rolls.

Let's give them a cup and bell shape using our fingers.

Cut two 1.5 cm pieces from the nut-colored strip and roll them into tight rolls. We will thread one through a stationery pin.

Then fill the inside of the acorn halves with PVA glue. We insert a pin into the “cup” and secure it with a second small roll until it stops.

And while the glue is not dry, connect both halves. Leave until completely dry.

Let's start assembling the suspension. Let's bend the metal ring, thread a leaf stalk and an acorn into it, and bend the ring.

Our decoration is ready!

To make the second pendant we will need:
1. 3mm quilling paper in black, dark blue, light blue, blue and light blue shades;
2. PVA glue, toothpick;
3. cord for decoration, metal ring.

Let's get down to business. Let's make the biggest roll. To do this, glue 13 stripes of blue-blue colors in succession. The sequence can be any.

Using a toothpick, roll it into a tight roll.

Let's make a smaller roll. I chose the following stripe colors: half light blue, half light blue, two blue stripes, one dark blue and one black. I glued them together sequentially.

I twisted it into a tight roll.

We continue to experiment. Cut the strips of paper in half and glue them together, two, three or four of your choice.

We roll the rolls.

Next we make small parts. We cut the strips of paper into four parts. Glue one fourth of a strip of paper of different colors together or leave them unglued.

Roll into tight rolls.

Now let's start fantasizing. By rearranging the rolls in different orders you can get original options pendants

I liked the last option best. I carefully glued all the parts of the pendant together, and then filled the entire decoration with thick PVA glue for strength.
