Gift box Magic Box - using scrapbooking technique. Design studio "Tanya Flower" For birthday

How to do original postcard and spectacular gift wrapping at the same time? Nothing could be easier! You just need to cut them out correctly, decorate them tastefully and turn them into a surprise box with your own hands! This small box, also called a magic box, reveals its secrets as soon as you remove the lid. Inner walls such postcards are decorated with photographs or simply good wishes for the addressee. How they can be decorated for different holidays, how to fill them and how to decorate them, is more detailed in this article. And step-by-step master class, how you can make a surprise box with your own hands, having 2 sheets of scrapbooking paper, some decor and one free evening.

Filling ideas

Magic box is an unusual postcard and, oddly enough, absolutely universal! It is ideal for small gifts. Here are some suitable ideas.
1. The most ordinary money, which is so often given to everyone around, will look much more interesting if it is rolled up in the form of a scroll, tied with a satin ribbon and placed inside such a postcard, surrounded by a variety of three-dimensional decor - flowers, butterflies, rhinestones, and inside, on the walls , write your wishes and leave signatures as a keepsake. In the master class at the end of the article you will find a description of how you can quickly and beautifully make a mount for money inside.

2. This packaging is ideal for gift certificates various salons and shops. You can attach it to the bottom in exactly the same way as money. If the card is hard, then you can make an envelope-pocket for it at the bottom or on one of the side walls.
3. Decorations or others jewelry They will look great in a magic box and will certainly be a real surprise for the recipient of the gift. You can attach a paper cake with a removable lid to the bottom, or simply build a small pillow covered in velvet with your own hands.
4. It’s also nice to place a CD or flash drive in this beautiful postcard. For discs, a pocket is most often made on the side wall using scrapbooking paper. In the future, in such packaging it will be convenient not only to give, but also to store any important and memorable little things.

Decor of themed boxes for different holidays

Magic box can be made for any holiday and even without it. You can make such a thing with your own hands and give it as a small token of attention without any reason at all, but just for a good mood. For example, decorate the inside of the sides with bags of different tea or coffee, place a cupcake in the center and present it to a friend or work colleague before the start of the working day.
If another important date is approaching, and you are painfully looking for a suitable gift, then here are a few thematic ideas For different holidays, which may inspire you to make your own holiday box.

For a birthday

Most traditional holiday for such gifts. Even if you just give money inside, you can play with the idea itself in these simple ways:
- place a photo of the birthday person in the center, and write wishes as a keepsake on the side walls;
- make the box “multi-walled”, that is, glue more walls inside, only 5mm. narrower, and on each side stick photographs united by one idea (for example, “the smiles of all friends” or “ best photos this year"), it will turn out to be a real mini-album;

- if there are no photographs, you can simply place inside a decorative composition of butterflies or flowers on springs that will jump out when opened.

New Year's

Paper in winter colors, Christmas pictures, blue or red stamp paint, tinsel decor, confetti and small Christmas tree decorations - all this will look cute and harmonious.
Another idea is to make a small box (in the master class a diagram is given for the 10x10 format, but here you will need to take a size of 5x5cm, no larger), place a candy inside, tie a satin ribbon on the outside and hang it on the Christmas tree as a toy. Any child will be sincerely delighted to find their favorite treat inside the surprise.
Also, magic box can be an excellent packaging for Christmas decorations self made, for example, a painted glass ball or a bell hidden under a lid inside the box.

Wedding

Ideal and always appropriate packaging for a wedding gift if you decide to give money. Wedding magic box will help you add a hand-made element to your usual gift and stand out in the crowd of guests. To complete it according to the master class below, take cardboard with delicate decor, pastel colors, prepare lace and paper or fabric flowers in light shades. All this fits perfectly with the theme of the holiday.

Easter

Magic box will be a suitable packaging for any Easter souvenir. In order to place a painted egg inside, you can line the bottom with sisal or paper shavings. If you want to put the cake inside, you need to line the bottom and walls with baking paper.
You can decorate the walls with decorative stickers, pictures with painted chickens, and thematic inscriptions. There is a whole collection of images of pre-revolutionary Easter cards that are perfect for such decor.

Manufacturing instructions

Materials for the master class.
1. Cardboard with a density of at least 180g:
- sheet 30x30cm. – for the main template,
- sheet 15x15cm. - for the lid.
2. Paper for scrapbooking 30x30cm. – at least 2 sheets (needed for decoration)
3. Decorative materials – voluminous flowers, ribbons, beads, etc.
4. Tools for scrap – edge and corner hole punches, if available, acrylic paint in gold or bronze color or a stamp pad for tinting paper sections.
5. Scissors, glue stick, pencil with ruler and eraser.

The box can be made of any size, it is only important to draw up the pattern correctly. In this master class we will take a size of 10x10x10 cm.
1. Draw a sheet of 30x30cm. for 9 squares with a side of 10 cm. We press lightly with a pencil, then all the lines will be erased.
2. Cut off four corner squares from the workpiece. We draw along the remaining pencil lines with a scoring stick or any other convenient tool (I use a knitting needle).

3. Remove all traces of the pencil and glue the four remaining squares onto the side walls of the box inside, retreating 1-2 mm. away from the fold lines so as not to touch them. The walls are now reinforced and will look stronger than regular thin cardboard.
Advice. It is better to glue all the parts together with a glue stick; PVA may warp the cardboard.
4. Take scrapbooking paper and cut out 4 squares with a side of 9 cm to decorate the outside of the side walls and 4 more squares to decorate the inside. If the paper is double-sided, then it is most convenient to take 4 squares on one side and 4 on the other.
5. We tint each side of each square with a stamp pad or acrylic paint. In each square, we cut out one shaped corner using a Martha Stewart shaped corner punch and glue all the squares in their places on the front and inside sides of the box.

6. At the bottom of our postcard we will build a mount for a cash gift using paper lace. Cut out a strip of scrapbooking paper using an edge punch on both sides and glue the ends to the bottom of the card. Now you can place rolled banknotes there.
7. Let’s move on to the second part of our master class – making the lid. For it you will need a square of cardboard measuring 14.2x14.2 cm. 2 mm. are needed for reserve so that the card closes neatly and evenly. Take a ruler and draw lines at a distance of 2cm. from each side.

8. Cut 2 cm on both sides along the marked lines as shown in the photo. This will be needed to glue the sides of the lid. All fold lines must be punched so that they bend evenly.
9. To decorate the lid, cut out 2 squares from scrapbooking paper 9x9 cm: glue one inside, the other on the top of the lid. Additionally, we cut out 4 rectangles from the same paper 9x1.5 cm. and glue them to the sides of our lid. Of course, don’t forget to tint the edges of all parts before gluing. This will add depth and texture to the details.

10. Glue the sides of the lid. After drying, put the lid on the box and try on how it fits. Everything is fine.
11. All that remains is to decorate our card with voluminous decor and you can give it away! Flowers can be made from any suitable cardboard: cut them according to the template with a stationery knife and cut them out using a hole punch. To make them look voluminous, the edges of all petals need to be twisted outward with a knitting needle or a toothpick. Using pens you can draw veins on leaves or stamens. Toning the edges of the petals in the selected color scheme will enhance the volume effect and make the decor a single part of the overall composition. Flowers for cards can also be made using fabric or ribbons.
The master class on making a surprise box with your own hands is completed. Now you can enjoy the result of your work and look forward to the pleasant moment of receiving such an original gift.

Try making a magic box with your own hands, and you will have a lot of fun not only when presenting it, but also during making it! Do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in the wonderful world of creativity, where beauty and harmony reign. With this simple master class, you can learn how to make a simple and elegant gift that will remain in your memory for a long time and will always bring joy!

Hello, dear readers blog Domovenok-Art! Over the 2.5 years of blogging, my screw has already accumulated many interesting master classes and products. I publish some of them right on the heels of them. But there are also those that mature (I’m not afraid of this word now) for years.

Today's fall magic boxing is one of those. Magic Box– this is truly a magical box and a great gift for any occasion. Her magic is always appropriate. Just imagine: you lift the lid of the box, and at that moment its walls disintegrate and something very unusual and beautiful is revealed to your gaze.

Magic boxing is an unusual way to give not only good mood, but also, for example, money. Such boxes are noticeably superior to simple ones. Well, I don’t think there’s any need to talk about the emotions from such a gift. And everything is so obvious.

A year ago I decided to create the first magic box in autumn style. I didn’t have much experience, but that didn’t stop me from picking up a camera and photographing the process. I will try to talk about what pitfalls novice needlewomen can expect in my own personal example. So, let's collect the materials and tools necessary to create an autumn magic box

Autumn Magic Boxing, master class

Basis for Magic Box

So, let's start by creating the basis of our autumn Magic Box. For this I used beautiful glossy and very thick cardboard.

Problem 1: this cardboard is great for creating, for example, but I don’t recommend using it for Magic Box, as it doesn’t bend very easily. It is best to use pastel paper, whatman paper or designer cardboard to create magic boxes.

And it’s also worth considering the size right away. Usually magic boxes are made 10x10cm in size. From a sheet of A4 format, without additional gluing, a magic box of 7x7 cm in size will come out. I made the first box of exactly this size. Firstly, there was no Whatman paper, and secondly, the scrap paper was 20x20 cm. To create these miracle boxes, it is generally better to have scrap paper measuring 30x30 cm. But by and large, you can always find a way out!

So, we cut out two blanks from cardboard: the lower part and the lid. All elements of the lower part are square, measuring 7x7 cm. We make the lid 1.5-2 mm larger at the base. The width of the sidewalls is ≈2.5 cm.

Jamb 2: in order for the lid to look aesthetically pleasing not only on the outside, but also on the inside, I recommend using this. I didn’t take this point into account during production, although to be honest, no one usually looks inside the lid, but still, if you are making a box to order, then it is better to pay attention to this detail of the Magic Box.

We cut out the parts, crease them, and bend them along the lines. We are not gluing anything yet. And let's move on to preparing the background.

Magic box background

To create the background we will use various combinations of scrap paper.

Magic box lid

Let me start by telling you exactly with magic box lids, and we’ll leave all the most interesting things for later :)

To decorate the outer part of the lid we will use 2 prints:

  • a paper backing with an unobtrusive print in red-brown tones (4 pieces measuring 6.7x2.2cm and one piece 6.7x6.7cm);
  • brown main background with glitter (4 pieces 6.4x2cm and 1 piece 6.4x6.4cm);

We process the corners of the square part with a border hole punch. We glue the backing and background together in pairs, and then the edges can be treated with an ink pad.

We separate one link from the chain with pliers, and use an awl to pierce two holes just below and to the right of the center of the square workpiece. And then we insert this very link into the holes and clamp it. For what, you will see further. You can put this matter aside for now. I propose to start preparing the background for the lower part.

Bottom of the magic box

I decided to decorate the outside of this magic box in light beige colors.

  • a backing made of the same paper as for the lid (5 pieces 6.7x6.7 cm);
  • the main background is paper from the Boho Chick set from First Edition: 5 pieces 6.4x6.4 cm.

On two background light details we process one corner each, as we did above. We tint the edges of all elements with a pad. And then glue them together in pairs.

What's inside the magic box? Be careful:

  • backing – brown scrap paper (which was used to decorate the lid) – 4 parts 6.7x6.7 cm;
  • background 1 – reddish-brown paper (which we used for the backing on the outside) – 2 pieces 6.7x6.7 cm;
  • background 2 + backing for the bottom – embossed cardboard for scrapbooking yellow color 3 parts 6.7x6.7 cm.

We make an impression on the brownish-reddish background details using silicone stamps, and tint the edges with the same ink. By the way, the edges of the remaining two background details also need to be tinted.

Let's prepare everything necessary for the bottom. We tint the yellow part almost to the very center. We cut out 4 brown corners using curly scissors (the length of the leg is about 2 cm). We cut out two more parts: one of them is beige 6.7x6.7 cm, the second is slightly smaller - green 5.5x5.5 cm.

We also process all 4 corners of the beige part with a hole punch.

Well! We made background blanks for the magic box! Now the fun begins.

Decorating the walls of the autumn Magic Box

Firstly, you can already glue the outer blanks of the lower part with double-sided tape.

Jamb 3: I did this using thin double-sided tape. It’s just that this tape quickly stopped sticking to glossy cardboard and gradually the corners began to separate. Therefore, if suddenly you also have a glossy or very smooth base, it is better to immediately use universal glue (well, or a pencil, but you will only need to keep the parts pressed for a long time).

Our fall magic box wall decoration will be appropriate for this time of year. On first wall we'll hang the picture.

To create the picture we will use brown and yellow toned paper and a suitable image (I cut mine out of a tea bag). Yellow paper should be 2-3 mm smaller than brown paper. We glue one on top of the other, then using a utility knife we cut a hole, forming a frame, and “insert”, or rather glue, the picture from the back.

Let's decorate the wall itself. Using ink and a bamboo stick, we draw the outline of a tree and a little ground. I assure you, you don’t have to be a super artist to do this! And, by the way, very calming work :)

Let's glue this beauty right away. First the background, then the background with the tree, and then the painting. For volume, I recommend using foamed double-sided tape. You can also add an autumn leaf. Unfortunately, I only recently learned that leaves can be preserved by dipping them in melted wax. Therefore, a year ago, each leaf was covered with tape. The first wall of autumn magic boxing is ready!

Second wall– artistic again. On it we depict a tree and a golden gazebo in acrylic. We also draw brown and gold leaves.

We cut out a fence from beige scrap paper and tint the edges (it’s more convenient to use cotton swab). If desired, apply decorative dots using gold acrylic paint.

On the floor there are smears of acrylic brown paint and the ink we used to draw on the previous wall. Let the paint dry. And then we glue these parts to our autumn magic box. Again the substrate, then the background. And on the background using thin strips of voluminous double-sided tape - a fence. Hooray! The second wall is ready!

Third wall of autumn magic boxing- wall of wishes. First glue the backing. Then the stamped blank. I also cut out 4 corners from yellow embossed cardboard, tinted the edges and glued 2 of them to this side. Plus an inscription and a couple of hole-punch butterflies outlined in gold.

And the fourth wall. We make a congratulatory inscription: cut out 2 ovals with different prints (the one on the backing is a little larger), glue them together. We make an inscription on a light print (I used acrylic paint). One more oval bigger size cut out with curly scissors. We glue the first two parts to the last using double-sided foam tape.

We first decorate the wall similarly to the previous one. Then glue 3 half beads on top. In the opposite corner, we plant 2 leaves and a bunch of sisal on universal glue. And now, using the same tape, we attach the blank with the inscription to the wall of our autumn magic box. We decorate the wall with paper and/or textile flowers.

Let's move to the bottom. We glue a well-tinted backing. On top of it is a blank with mesh corners. Next, we will do this: take the plastic from the packaging, cut 4 thin strips 4-7 cm long and about 5-7 mm wide. We bend each strip at a distance of 1 cm from one edge. These will be the places where the strips are attached to the bottom of the magic box.

On the other hand, you can also make a bend on longer workpieces. And on the tip of each strip we glue a butterfly with a rhinestone (we use hot melt glue or universal glue). We will also prepare several paper/textile flowers and an autumn leaf.

In the remaining green part we cut 4 holes about 7 mm wide in the middle of the sides, moving 5 mm from the edge. We insert our blanks with floating butterflies into these slots and glue them with hot glue.

Now all that remains is to glue the paper blank to the bottom of the magic box, the corners on top, and then the flowers, half-beads, and rhinestones.

This is what our magic box looks like now. The bottom part is ready.

Autumn Magic Box cover

Glue the remaining blanks onto the sides and in the center. We assemble the lid and glue its parts together. We insert a short chain with a pendant into the chain link. A few leaves, flowers, half beads - and our lid is also ready.

If desired, you can decorate the inside of the lid.

Our magic box - magic box ready! I used it as a very unusual container for money. You can roll the bills into a roll, tie them with a ribbon or rope and place them in the center under the butterflies.

You will find more money and packaging ideas in a special article:.

Now all that remains to be done is to assemble the walls, put the lid on top and bandage the structure to be secure. Such a present will definitely be remembered!

I hope this master class has at least helped you in some way or inspired you to create your own unique masterpiece. Let autumn be as bright and soulful as this box! And in order not to miss new master classes, recipes and other interesting things, subscribe to updates:

And we will definitely see you again! So see you soon on the Domovenok-Art blog! Your brownie Elena.

My beloved readers, do you know that there are 16 days left until the New Year (we don’t count hours and minutes)? Very little. And it’s not just the New Year’s calculator or the bustle in stores that reminds us of the approaching holiday. You feel this even more clearly when you walk home and the aroma of spices envelops you from the threshold. Cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, ginger... This means that the next batch of holiday cookies is ready, which you can try in 2-3 weeks, not earlier, when they are ripe. The hardest test for me :)

And on our blog we also continue preparing for the New Year and Christmas. And today we are together with the magician Victoria Porechnaya Let's learn how to create a magic box.

Meet!

Magic Box master class with New Year wishes

Hello, friends!

Today I want to show and tell you how to make such a magic box with wishes from materials C.h.e.a.p-Art

Exist different variants such boxes. I'll tell you how I make it - ideas and little secrets.
So let's get started. For the box we will need:
- thick paper for the base of the box and lid (I have designer cardboard with a density of 280 g/m2)
- New Year's scrap paper (for example, from the collection Happy year);
-chipboard for decoration or decorative elements (I have New Year's set with keys And Gifts)
- bright ribbon (approximately 50-60 cm);
- various small decor (rhinestones, laces, etc.)
- tools and materials (ruler, scissors, stationery knife, glue, pencil, as well as acrylic paint, embossing powder, stamps, printer for decoration)

Preparing basic materials

Based on the drawing, we draw and cut out the bases for the box and lid. In my experience, this size is the most successful.

Please note that the lid is a couple of millimeters larger than the box - for freedom of closing and opening!

We draw folds along the dotted lines and bend the blanks

We cut out squares measuring 7.5x7.5cm from the selected scrap paper - 4 pcs. for external sides, 4 pcs. For internal sides and 1 for the bottom (optional) and 1 more square measuring 7.7x7.7cm for the lid.

Now let's decorate our lid - add a beautiful ribbon.

To do this, we secure each piece of tape with double-sided tape (or glue) on opposite sides of the lid. Like this

Then we proceed according to the scheme: glue the corners of the box, remove the protective film from the tape, apply a layer of glue to the tape and paper, bend it and seal it (see photo).

It turns out beautifully and neatly. We tie a bow on top.

Trying it on

Now it's time for decoration.
We paint the chipboard with gold acrylic paint and apply embossing powder with glitter.

New Year is a fabulous holiday. On this day, every person believes in miracles and magic and expects incredible gifts. And a very important part of this gift is its packaging. After all unusual design giving a gift is always interesting and exciting.

We bring to your attention a master class on Magic Box (magic box) from a participant in the competition. The box is made using scrapbooking technique.

The magic of this box lies in the fact that when you open the lid, the walls fold back and a gift is revealed, which is colorfully decorated inside.

Such a gift box can be decorated for various holidays and bring joy to the recipients.

But today we have a MK on the New Year's Magic Box.

So, we need the following materials and tools:

  • designer cardboard;
  • paper for scrapbooking New Year's theme;
  • satin ribbon with a New Year's pattern;
  • snowflake sequins;
  • self-adhesive half beads;
  • printouts new year wishes;
  • cutting for inscription;
  • New Year's balls;
  • silvered and gilded leaves;
  • New Year's garland;
  • double-sided tape;
  • cutting mat;
  • pencil;
  • crochet hook;
  • stationery knife;
  • stamp “Happy New Year!”;
  • ink pad;
  • hot glue;
  • glue "Moment";
  • figured hole punchers;

Let's start making the base of our packaging. First, we calculate the dimensions based on the size of our gift and the planned interior decoration. Since my gift is a decoupage candle with poetic wishes, the dimensions turned out to be 15 X15 cm. We cut out the blank from designer cardboard. We make the bends using a crochet hook.

From scrapbooking paper 30X30 cm we need to cut out 4 blanks for the outer sides.

First, use a hole punch to cut through the top edge of the sheet. From it we measure 2 blanks measuring 13.5 X13.5.

We also make 2 more blanks. We tint the edges of the resulting blanks using an ink pad.

We begin to decorate the blanks for the walls. To do this we cut off satin ribbon longer, take snowflake sequins and self-adhesive half-beads.

Using Moment glue, glue the ribbon and sequins, and glue the half-beads inside the sequins.

We also tint the main part of our box. By using double sided tape We glue our decorated blanks onto the outer walls of the main blank.

We also strengthen the bottom by gluing a piece of cardboard measuring 14 X14.

Since we are planning a decoration in the form of New Year's wishes, we cut out 4 printouts of New Year's wishes. We tint the edges. For each, we cut out a large backing and use a hole punch to make openwork corners.

Glue the wish onto the backing with tape. We take a larger ribbon, sequins and a wish and place everything on the blank.

We glue the tape and sequins with glue, and the backing with the wish using tape.

We begin to make the inner part of the bottom where the gift will be located. We cut out a blank 14 X14 cm. We tint the edges. We take decor - balls, ribbon, leaves, garland.

We draw up the wish on the backing and glue it to the workpiece. We glue the decor with hot glue. Trying on a gift - a decoupage candle.

Let's start making the lid. Cut out the workpiece. The photo shows the cut areas with a thick line.

Draw the fold lines with a crochet hook.

On external sides and glue the blanks cut out from scrapbooking paper to the top of the lid. They are also tinted around the edges.

We assemble our lid by gluing the walls with tape.

Trying the lid on the box.

We decorate the top of our lid. We tint the prepared cutting, use a stamp and an ink pad to apply the inscription “Happy New Year!” Hot glue the leaves, balls and ribbon.

Our Magic Box is ready!!

I am sure that such a magical box with a gift inside will give you a good mood and faith in the magic of New Year's Eve!

Child BY thanks its readers for being with us all this year and hopes to meet you in the New Year. We will be glad to know your preferences on topics for future articles; you can write your wishes to the address or in the comments.

Hi all!!!)))

Last weekend the Magic Box master class was successfully completed!!!

There were a lot of us and we had fun)))

To confirm this, my facial expression is a little lower, practically saying the following: “Yuhhu!!! Who else needs openwork butterflies???!!!)))”

But that was a little later... and in the beginning there was White list paper:

But someone in the background also manages to drink tea ;-)

But basically everyone works hard... This is not for you to hammer in sleepers, everything is more serious here!!!)))

Well, the word “seriousness” does not at all imply that you can’t joke or laugh! On the contrary, it is possible and even necessary!!! Ksenya confirms!)

Here is such a creative whirlwind:

Some people are deep in thought, while others are laughing from ear to ear)))

“Oh, that’s how it works!!!))) I see, give me that hole punch of yours!!!)))”
