DIY leather flowers: exclusive from an old bag

Store shelves littered with Chinese “masterpieces” and fashionistas walking around in “creepy roses” are forcing true connoisseurs of beauty to make leather flowers with their own hands. Making such accessories is not difficult, especially since the game is really worth it.

And although leather is not a malleable material, it is possible to master the art of processing it. From a small piece of leather, a needlewoman can create such artificial flowers that even the most inconspicuous jacket, bag or pair of shoes will bloom literally before your eyes.

Leather flower for brooch

If you are planning to make a flower out of leather with your own hands, for example, in the form of a daisy, stock up on the following materials:

  • 5 stencils
  • with a pen
  • scissors
  • thick needle
  • glue (both “Moment” and PVA will do)
  • bead or button for the middle
  • strong threads
  • with a pin (if you still firmly decided to make a brooch).
If the old one is used Leather Jacket or a bag that has become obsolete, it is advisable to wipe the material with a sponge soaked in soap

Before cutting the skin, prepare cardboard template(it is possible that in the process of drawing your ideas about the future brooch will undergo transformations). Only after this we place the blank template on the wrong side of the leather flap and begin to cut out the petals. By the way, they don’t have to be round - pointed edges look more extravagant. To those who have skin at their disposal different shades, but of the same texture, doubly lucky: such seven-flowered flowers will become real highlights of your image. If you get carried away, don’t forget: the part cut out from the largest stencil must be made in two copies.

Very sharp scissors are well suited for cutting flowers out of leather with your own hands - this will make the process faster and easier

After cutting out the pieces, stack them on top of each other. The application process proceeds from the largest component of the future brooch to the smallest. We fasten the workpiece with a thick thread threaded into a thick needle, carefully piercing the middle of each part. What will be the “core” of your leather flower - a bead, button or buckle - is sewn on last.

We temporarily set one of the two largest parts aside. It is destined to be the main exclusive brooch. We measure the pin and make holes in the leather base at the appropriate distance from each other. Lubricate the bottom of the flower with “Moment” (or PVA) and gently press it to the base.

This additional layer not only secures the pin, but also perfectly holds the shape of the brooch.

Flower on the headband

An elegant flower made of leather with your own hands can become a full-fledged accessory to decorate your bright head. Moreover, this dahlia, which we propose to “plant” on the headband, is in no way inferior in beauty and grace to a diamond tiara. After all, every petal of this leather dahlia is practically a piece of jewelry.

Picking up beads or artificial pearls, you can make an elegant headband in just a few hours. To sew it you need the minimum:

  • Stuck in the pantry leather bag
  • Pearls (can be artificial, but good quality and preferably in different sizes)
  • Durable elastic band
  • Sewing machine
  • Glue (preferably hot)
  • Scissors

Have you presented your dahlia yet? The flower can be small, neat, or cover half the head: this is at your discretion. From a piece of leather we cut out 15 petal blanks of different sizes (large, medium and small). At first it can be just squares, which gradually, with the help sharp scissors, you will turn into rounded petals.

In this case, the “roundings” must be the same - so everything will have to be done according to the template.

Before you grab a tube of glue, imagine how the petals will be placed in the future flower. Only after this begin to attach the petals of the big size to the round base.

Then the turn of the medium petals will come, and only then the small ones.

Having laid out all three layers of leather petals, make the core of the dahlia, decorating it with pearls or beads.

Now it's time to make the headband itself. A bag handle is suitable for this. Having measured the circumference of the head, cut out a strip, 7-8 centimeters less (this is reserve for the elastic band). You can sew the elastic on by hand, but sewing machine still more convenient.

Carefully attach the dahlia and you can captivate others with your creative work of art. A young lady whose head is decorated with such leather flowers can count on being the most charming, attractive and extraordinary.

Flower necklace

A necklace is another option for worthy use of leather flowers.

To give the flowers the required volume, use ready-made sepals (you can take apart one of your bracelets for this purpose). Traditionally, we cut out several blanks for a flower of different diameters from leather. Then we glue the largest blank to a metal or plastic sepal and boldly glue smaller petals onto it.

You can use scrapbooking flowers and pearl beads to decorate the flower core. And also add some fabric flowers to the necklace.

Have all the flowers been collected and thoroughly dried? Great! It's time to collect them into an exclusive decoration. On a piece of paper, arrange the flowers in the order you want to see them on the finished necklace. Then take a pencil and carefully trace the resulting “clearing” along the contour, retreating from the edges by 0.5-1 cm. This way you will make a pattern for the base of the future necklace. In total you will need 2 of these patterns (in a mirror image).

After the bases are cut directly from the leather, glue them together with a "Moment" or a hot gun. You can also glue the ends of the fishing line inside, onto which the beads were previously placed. This way they will hold on tighter and won’t run away.

After the base has dried thoroughly, you can start gluing the flowers. “Plant” them in the order in which you originally planned. First there are big flowers, and between them there are small ones.

Let the glue dry and go decorate the world with your new flower necklace!

What do you think of this leather peony? The assembly principle is similar to those listed above: we cut out the petal blanks, then assemble them into one flower and attach them to the rim. But here, before assembly, the petals were held above the candle, which is why they bend inward.

You can also fry the leather petals in a frying pan to add volume! Watch the video master class:

The original lamps described in the article are easy to make even for a woman. They will add individuality home interior and territories, will effectively decorate the site, create a romantic atmosphere, quiet comfort. We offer several options for creating unique lamps and lanterns from scrap materials.

Types of country lamps

All lamps, no matter how they look, perform the same functions. This includes spot lighting, guidelines for movement directions, territory design and home design. There are many varieties:

Wall lanterns are located at the gate, entrance to the house, to the gazebo, at the gate.
Ground lamps are installed on the ground. Designed to illuminate recreation areas, flower beds, paths, and shrubs.
Floor lamps can be placed anywhere, at different heights. They represent one or more lanterns on a stand driven into the ground.
Ceiling/suspended mounted on trees, verandas, gazebos, indoors.

Hanging can chandelier

The decorative value of such a lamp can hardly be overestimated. It is also important that it provides enough light and does not depend on electricity. Let's consider the principle underlying it, and every master can decorate and complement it.

For work, prepare glass jars with a wide neck, preferably of a non-standard shape; jams, caviar, and marinades are usually sold in these jars. It is advisable to choose the same size: 3-5 pieces. You will also need materials for fastening and assembly.

The main task is to make a housing where the cans will be placed. You can weave a stand from twigs, metal wire, or use wooden blocks. Perhaps you will find the bottom of an old basket or an iron bag from a supermarket.

If you have decided on the body, you need to think about the fasteners. You will need hooks and chains for hanging. There are probably old chains on the farm. They need to be divided into 3-4 identical segments. For fixing, commercial hooks, carabiners for a dog leash, or bent wire are suitable.

The main requirement is stable placement with a circular edging. Lighting will be provided by candles installed in jars. Using your creativity, you can decorate the surface of the cans acrylic paints. The frame can be filled with any reflective material, tinsel. If you want to do without a frame-stand, make a mount for hanging on the neck.

When placed in places where there is electricity, candles can be replaced with LED or regular lamps that are placed inside the jars. This “chandelier” is hung low, usually at eye level. Any place can be chosen: under a canopy, in a gazebo, on a terrace, in a house, on a tree branch, on a porch.

Lighting made from tin cans

Diffuse light for your resting place is quickly made from iron cans. Every family uses canned food, so it’s not difficult to build a collection of tin containers. Any will do: tall, wide, most often narrow ones from olives or beer are used.

The preparation of the lamp is very simple. We release the selected jar from the top lid. We make holes in the side surface along the entire circumference. This technique will serve as a design and provide the opportunity to glow, i.e. the rays from the candle penetrate through the iron walls.

Holes can be made randomly/chaotically or you can create a design or pattern. To work, take a nail and an awl. A drill will significantly speed up the process, in this case the holes will be even, and by varying the set of drills, it is possible to obtain different diameters. If the design involves drawing, then first make a sketch with a pencil or marker.

Ready-made options can be used outdoors and indoors: hung, placed, grouped, arranged in several sizes. To turn it on, just place a candle inside and light it.

Lighting from plastic bottles and cups

Light and pliable material, in the form of plastic containers, is actively used to create lighting devices. Diode garlands and ribbons are used as a light source.

Plastic containers come in different varieties, so there will be many options for organizing lighting. For example, if you want to make one spectacular lampshade, then take a bottle, the volume will depend on your idea (1-; 1.5-; 2 liters). Some prefer larger lampshades and use plastic canisters with a 4-6 liter capacity.

The manufacturing process consists of filling the container with LED strip. The wire for connecting to the network can be brought out in a place convenient for you: from above, from the side, through the bottom. To do this, make a hole and stretch the prepared ribbon through it.

If you want to make a garland, take plastic cups. Fasten them to the diode garland through the holes cut on the bottom. Cups can be taken in one tone or colored, and when placed, arranged according to shades. You can draw along the edges with a colored marker or make curly cuts. As a result, you get interesting highlights and pretty lights. When placing it, it is important not to forget about reliable fastening, high-quality insulation, wiring and other safety measures.

Now the moment of truth has come, I took the wheels from painting

I wanted black wheels with a polished shelf. After studying the market, I came to the conclusion that it would be expensive to make somewhere.
I decided to check it out myself.
First, I removed the old paint with a remover. We tried different removers. The Abro remover worked best.

Then it was time to come up with the machine itself, so to speak. I used something like a device for winding cables as a basis. I ordered different rollers, pins, etc. from a turner. I took a drive belt from a BMW X1, and they fitted some used ones at the dealer.

And off we go, sandpaper into fractions 400,600,800,1200,1500,2000,2500,3000.
Then polishing with a product.

Then pasting and unsuccessful painting (((

I spent a long time looking for somewhere to paint it, albeit expensively but with high quality. Almost all the offices refused. But in one place they told me that we wouldn’t take it, call somewhere. And lo and behold, they said, bring it, we’ll do it)))

And then I got carried away)))
I decided to polish the feathers too.

I also polished other small things. Next up is the rear swingarm, but maybe next winter.
