Cardboard or paper is used to make crafts. How long the attribute will last depends on the material. Once the material has been selected, you can begin to work.

Mark the mask on the back of the cardboard (paper). It will consist of white and orange parts. You can choose a suitable template on the Internet. for every detail. The base in the form of a squirrel's face will be depicted on orange paper, and antennae and ears will be depicted on white paper.

The size of the parts depends on the desire and age of the child, the main thing is that the mask does not cover the lower part of the nose.

Based on orange paper or cardboard to make holes for the eyes. Punch small holes at the edges through which you need to thread the elastic. To secure the elastic, you need to tie its ends into knots. To determine the length of the elastic, measure the distance from one earlobe to the other through the back of the head and add 5 cm.

White antennae are glued to the orange base so that the holes with the elastic are closed. The baby squirrel will get voluminous cheeks if the ends of the elastic are extended by about 2-3 cm.

Then you need to glue the white parts in the form of ears. Draw the nose with gouache or a black marker.

Such a toy will please the child much more than one bought in a store, since he will make it himself. Parents will help complement the product with fluffy tassels on the ears.

As a rule, young children cannot make the attribute on their own, and parents do not always have time to help the child. In this case, you need to use fast and easy way DIY mask assembly.

Squirrel on the rim

Even the smallest children can make a craft of this type, since all you need to do is cut out the shapes. You need to print a squirrel mask for your head, then attach it to the headband. To make an attribute you need to prepare:

1. White paper.
2. Orange cardboard.
3. Scissors.
4. PVA glue.
5. Paper clips.

You can make such a product in five minutes. The rim in this case plays the role of an elastic band. It is easy to make from strips of cardboard 4 cm wide, which need to be wrapped around the child's head. Secure the circle with paper clips. After this, you should remove the workpiece and trim off the excess edge, leaving 3-4 cm to the staples. Then the ends of the rim must be glued together and the staples removed.

To the assembled rim you need to find a picture on the Internet. From many options, you can choose the whole squirrel or just its face. Then print out the squirrel mask. For your child, you should choose a picture that is easy to cut out. The final stage of the mask creation process will be gluing the picture to the headband.

The result is a beautiful and easy-to-make squirrel mask; its only drawback is that it is disposable.

The headband mask can be of a more complex type. For example, to give strength to the image of a squirrel, it can be glued to cardboard. In this case, it is recommended to use a glue stick, which will not spoil the picture and securely fasten the parts together.

The rim itself can be made stronger. To do this, it should be slightly shorter than the circumference of the child’s head. Sew an elastic band into the resulting space, connecting the ends together. This way the size of the headband will be adjustable. Thanks to this, the mask will last longer.

More complex models can be made from foam rubber or felt.

Felt products

Such accessories look very nice, they are light and hold their shape well. You will need the following materials:

Print a pattern drawn by hand or in a graphic editor. It can be made easier if you enlarge or reduce the image of the pattern on the computer to the right size and print a squirrel mask for your head.

The product will fit better on the face if darts are made in its upper part. The mask can be secured to the head using a headband or hair clips.

You can experiment first by cutting out a pattern from paper. Then glue it together and try it on. This way, it will become clear whether the attribute size is appropriate or not. If necessary, adjust the pattern, cut and glue again. Continue these actions until you reach perfect fit masks.

Then the pattern can be transferred to felt using a pencil, marker or chalk. Felt parts are cut out very carefully and evenly so that the edges are not shaggy. Small holes are cut using a sharp breadboard knife.

The details of the craft can be sewn or glued. First, it is better to glue flat elements, for example, eyes, ears. Then you can begin to form volumetric parts.

For the nose, make a slit on the craft in the form of a triangle. Coat the edges of the slot well with glue and insert a squirrel nose, folded in half, into it. Then glue on the black tip of the nose.

The mask is ready. If there is excess glue left on it, it must be removed.

Foam craft

Foam masks are made according to the cap principle. To work you will need:

1. Foam rubber 1-2 cm thick.
2. Scissors.
3. Glue "Moment".
4. Paints.

Such products can be in the shape of a cone, ball or cylinder. To make a squirrel mask, you need to make a round hat, then glue the ears to it. Make the nose in the form of a cone. The finished sculpture must be painted. Eyes can be cut out of paper.

Foam rubber makes wonderful attributes. These can be not only animals, but also vegetables or fruits. For example, you can make a mask of onions, potatoes, cherries, apples and others. It’s easy to make a bee mask for a child’s head from this material.

How to do carnival mask cats or paper cat?

I already told you. Today we are solving a specific problem: let's make a human-friendly cat mask. What does “human-friendly” mean? And, for example, the fact that the forehead should be quite high and convex, like a person’s. The nose should not be flat; let’s create streamlined cheekbones. And it will be a half mask - it is better not to cover your mouth and chin, otherwise the mask can become a real burden.

So, bend a rectangular sheet of A5 paper (this means half a landscape sheet) in half - this is the line of the nose. Let's bend it in half again - the line of the eyes.

On the line of the eyes we will cut out the eye sockets, and intentionally larger than the eyes. Let's make slits for darts at the temples, on the forehead to the middle of the eyebrow and approximately the width of the nose.

Now we need to make the nose move forward. Turn the workpiece wrong side out and lightly pinch the fold line with a stapler.

Let's bring the edges of the darts on the forehead slightly behind each other. A little - less than a centimeter, you shouldn’t overdo it. And we'll seal it. Look at the picture - we create darts on the forehead this way, but if we do it the other way around, the forehead will visually become much narrower.

The forehead of the mask acquired a convex shape. But at the same time, the incisions on the temples opened at an angle. Take triangular pieces of cardboard and glue them with reverse side masks. These inserts will have holes to thread the elastic through. Therefore, I advise you to duplicate it with masking tape, and also regular tape on top, and only then punch a hole (it’s very convenient to do this with a hole punch). Elastic bands are sold in fishing stores; you should choose thinner ones.

Bring the sides of the nose towards each other and seal them. Glue a pink triangle onto the nose.

The base of the mask is ready. Cut the corners into an oval. Let's cut out triangular ears, make darts in them from the bottom up to half the height, and also, slightly bringing in the edges, glue them. The ears became concave.

Let's glue them symmetrically above the eyes and move them more towards the temple. You shouldn't move it closer to the top of your head - it will look stupid. Let's draw a mustache and eyebrows for the cat, and make sure it turns out symmetrically. Well, the cat mask is ready. However, if you wear a hat with a feather and boots, then you can consider it a cat mask.

This is a very versatile model. If you need a tiger, we’ll cut out round ears and with a wave of our hands we’ll turn the cat into a tiger.

A few lines drawn with a marker - and your blood will run cold - such a convincing tiger will be. And if you need a lion, then Christmas tree tinsel, an old tape or glued pieces of serpentine will create a mane.

This model is easily forged into squirrel mask. Just take orange cardboard and stick tassels on the ears, also made from slightly cut and slightly fluffed cardboard. Yes, this is such a carnival-evolutionary relationship.

Both ends of the elastic are threaded through them and tied with a knot to secure them. The size of the elastic can be measured by placing it on the child’s head from earlobe to earlobe through the back of the head and adding 5 cm.
2. Next, white part No. 1 needs to be glued to the orange base so as to cover the holes into which the elastic is threaded. In this case, the ends of the latter should be extended by 2-3 cm. As a result, the mask will acquire fluffy cheeks.

The child will like the resulting squirrel mask much more than the purchased one, since he made it himself. Parents can additionally decorate the ears of the craft using fluffy tassels or in another way.

But children start going to kindergarten at the age of 2, and parents don’t always have the opportunity to sit down with their child and help make an outfit. Then a faster and easier way to assemble a mask with your own hands will do.

Squirrel mask “rim”

For the youngest children, a method is suitable that does not require anything complicated other than curly cutting, and its complexity depends on the efforts of the parents (later it will become clear why). The mask is a headband, and the squirrel that is attached to it is a printed picture. For this method you need:

1. White paper.
2. Orange cardboard.
3. Scissors.
4. PVA glue.
5. Paper clips.

It will take no more than five minutes to make such a mask:

Types of masks

There are also more complicated versions of the headband mask. For example, for greater strength, the image of a squirrel before gluing to the rim can be further strengthened with a layer of cardboard. A glue stick will help to glue them together, which will provide reliable adhesion and will not damage the printed image.

In addition to the design, you can improve the design of the rim. It can be made slightly shorter than the circumference of the child’s head, and a wide elastic band can be sewn into the resulting gap. This will allow you to adjust the size of the headband, which means that this New Year’s mask can be used more than once.
