Beautiful flower decorations made from zigzag braid. MK. Original flower made from zig-zag braid Rose from braid

From wavy braid you can make very beautiful flowers that can decorate a pillow, pendant or even an evening suit. You just have to put in a little effort and patience - and repeat her actions after the leader!
You will need for work: Ric-Rac tapes; glue; needle and thread; scissors.
MKs seem to be conducted in Italian, but this does not prevent you from understanding what your hands are doing. So you can get started!

Well, for those who understand it better from pictures - here is a master class from the site http://trocasdelinhas.blogspot.com
1. Take two ribbons of the same size, colors may differ. We fold them so that they are intertwined and glue them together at both ends. Let the glue dry.
2. We thread the thread along the entire weave.
3. After threading, we begin to twist the tape, as in the picture. When twisting the ribbon, do not forget to periodically sew the ball at the base so that it does not unwind and the center of the ribbon does not pop out.
4. Twist it to the end - sew the end of the tape to the base.
5. Fluff the resulting flower.

But that’s not all! You can make another beautiful flower from a zigzig ribbon. Like this:

How to do it? Very simple!
1. Take a small piece of tape. Sew the ends of the segment.

Because here I am collecting what seemed to me interesting ideas different directions for creative creative people, I decided to add a collar I found from my mother.

And I made it as a child, from centipede braid. I found the lace patterns for the napkins and collar in an appendix to an old magazine. They probably gave me the impetus to take action.

The “centipede” braid itself was already in large quantities, lay there for a long time, waiting for its moment. Threads of exactly the same color were also found in the box. Thread then cost pennies, so my mother bought a lot of different ones, in case she needed them for sewing.

The collar pattern below is much more complex, but apparently, as a child, I decided to simplify it for myself, I really wanted to try it, but I wasn’t sure if it would work.

This was the only color I had at home, it doesn’t go with everything, but it didn’t occur to me to go to the store to buy something else, I just wanted to try it!

Which braid is suitable?

What is centipede braid? Probably almost everyone knows this. This is a ribbon for needlework, distinguished by the fact that on both sides it has loops resembling the legs of the centipede insect, which is called that way.

If in Russian they are called centipedes, then, for example, in German, they are even millipedes! :)

On both edges there is not a fringe, but rather loops into which the needle fits well, through which it is very convenient to connect the braid. This way you can create almost real lace.

Materials for work

  • Centipede braid
  • Thread (preferably the same color as the ribbon)
  • Sketchy pattern
  • For napkins - pieces of material

By the way, in the descriptions of the diagrams below, not all “legs” are used; in my version, I connected almost all of them, except perhaps the outermost ones - the side ones.

It's already finished goods. They look better on a person than just like that. Personally, I don’t really like collars as decoration, I probably remember that I wore white ones on dark school uniform. But my mother used to really respect it, she thought it was beautiful and also very refreshing for the face. Fashion goes in circles, or rather, in a spiral, now everything that was fashionable a long time ago is coming back, perhaps slightly modified.

This work of mine is still kept at my mother’s house. Now I’m probably not capable of this anymore - it’s been too long.

My childhood work is a decorative collar

Schemes for decorating napkins with braid (imitation lace)

Since collars are not everyone's cup of tea, let's talk about another application of the same technique.

I would like to note that the given patterns will be useful not only for creating lace from braid, but also for embroidery with soutache or flat cord, thin ribbon on items from a woman’s wardrobe. There you will also find a link to a similar post about decorating ordinary plain covers for decorative sofa pillows in this way.

There’s so much more to decorate with beads and beads! Some interesting options are described here. Neck, collar, cuffs, shoulders, belt, individual details. On knitwear, cotton, even jeans. In the form of separately sewn beads or embroidered with fabric tightly to each other as an applique.

Flower It turns out flatter and its scope of application is very wide.

This flower makes it more voluminous and even more original middle, framed by two tiers of braid petals. The middle can be embroidered with French knots (as in the next photo), sew a button, a bead, glue a rhinestone... But let's start in order.

To make such flower You will need:

  • zig-zag braid (convolvulus);
  • threads in the color of the braid;
  • scissors;
  • sewing needle.

From the braid, cut a piece of 20 fragments + seam allowance. The fragments must be counted one by one (for example, the upper) part of the braid. You will need the same amount of braid as shown in the photo above.

Carefully fold the braid in half and sew it together. Please ensure that the braid is not twisted and that the seam runs in the middle of the fragment. After stitching, the fragments should not differ from each other in length (stitched and the rest).

So the braid is already sewn.

The fragments do not vary in length. If you do not pay attention to the seam, the zig-zag pattern is not disturbed.

Now the stringing of the braid begins. We hook the braid in the middle, starting from the middle of the fragment (if you look from above, this is one of the recesses).

We pass the next recess untouched, and the next one we pick up with a thread.

We will finish the seam exactly where we started, because the number of braid fragments is even.

Now we begin to tighten the thread. You can already see what the flower will be like.

We turn the flower inside out so that the long petals are on the outside, and tighten the thread. The flower is already beautiful at this stage. True, at this stage it is not yet flat.

Well, now we make the flower flat by pressing it with our fingers.

The result is a flower like you see on the left. The flower on the right is sewn from 16 pieces of braid. The main thing is that the number of fragments is even.
