Size: 36-38

For you will need:
yarn “Lotus” (100% mercerized cotton, 250 m / 100 g) - 400 g light green color
Hook No. 2.

To get started, dial 6 air. p., close the chain into a ring. Then tie the ring 12 tbsp. b/n and then follow the motive diagram. Each new row of the main pattern begins with decreasing by one loop using a half-stitch. Having knitted the required number of motifs, start assembling.

The product consists of motifs, knit each motif separately, connecting them together from the wrong side simple columns 6/n.

The back and front are knitted in the round, but for convenience in the assembly pattern we divided them into two parts. The sleeve is also connected in a circle, and then tied to the main product using the motifs highlighted in bold dots in the diagrams.

At the junction of the sleeves and the base, the joints will be slightly different (squares, not triangles), this is a feature of the assembly.

Advice: If you have chosen a finer yarn, it is not necessary to increase the number of motifs, breaking the pattern of the assembly. You can simply increase the number of rows in the motifs themselves, thus achieving the desired diameter.

I love this motif. I once saw an interview with Maly Theater actress Lyudmila Polyakova (one of my favorite actresses, I recommend watching her in the play “Wolves and Sheep” - it’s something supernatural!!), who was wearing a chic white dress with such a motif. Simply brilliant!

SIZE: 46
YOU WILL NEED:
400 g yarn (100% cotton, 105 m/50 g), hook number 4.
Circular motif: knit in circular rows according to the pattern. For each motif, tie a chain of 6 vp. and enclose it in a circle with a connected column. Work 8 spiral rounds as indicated, moving to the beginning of the next round using a ch. The motifs form a rounded hexagon, every 9 stitches. b/n form a side edge separated by arches. Sew the motifs according to the pattern. To do this, sew only 9 tbsp with a seam “over the edge”. b/n one side edge with the corresponding 9 tbsp. b/n the side edge of the adjacent motif. The pattern shows the back/front and left sleeve. Proceed and sew in the right sleeve in the same way.
Knitting density : 1 circular motif -11.5x11.5; side edge - 5 cm. Attention! The dimensions on the pattern are only partially measured.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

BACK / FRONT
Make a total of 38 circular motifs and sew them according to the pattern. To do this, first arrange 8 circular motifs in a row. Sew the 8th motif also with the 1st motif so that you get the 1st circle. Perform the 2nd circle in the same way, while sewing the motifs to the 1st circle with an offset. Do the same for the next 2 rounds. For the back and front, sew 3 more circular motifs offset on top of the last 4 motifs.
SLEEVES
For each sleeve, knit 7 circular motifs and sew them together according to the pattern and then sew them to the front and back.

Crochet "Mill" motif

Why is the pattern called so unusually? This is what makes knitting interesting: the Mill pattern, like many other patterns (for example), got its name for its similarity to one of the objects in the real world. IN in this case- with a windmill, namely with its blades. The pattern has several modifications. In this material we will analyze the simplest, but at the same time the most popular of them.

Scheme

According to needlewomen, this is the most convenient way execution of this pattern. The Mill motif, the diagram of which is given below, is made by four types of loops: air loops, single crochets, connecting stitches and single crochets. This allows even a beginner to master the Mill pattern. The diagram is read in a standard way - from the middle. Knitting goes in a circle (not in a spiral!). To transition between rows, lifting air loops are knitted.

Knitting pattern for the “Mill” motif (pattern)

Description

Compose Full description There is no point in crocheting the Mill motif, since starting from 2-3 rows, the work follows the same principle. The dimensions of the motif are limited only by the author’s imagination or the requirements for the product, so we will not reach the final stage in describing the knitting process.

VP- air loop, RLS- single crochet, CCH- single crochet stitch, SS- connecting column.

Close 5 VPs into a ring using a connecting post.

1 row: 7 VP, 1 sc in the ring, *4 VP, 1 sc in the ring* - repeat 4 times. Finish the row by knitting a sl st in the 3rd ch from the beginning of the row.

2nd row: 4 VP, knit 1 Dc, 1 VP, 1 Dc, * 3 VP in the arch, knit 1 Dc, 1 VP, 1 Dc, 1 VP, 1 Dc in the next arch * - repeat until the end of the row. Finish row 2 VP + 1 SS in 3rd VP of row.

3rd row: 3 VP, 1 Dc in the arch, 1 VP, 1 Dc + 1 VP + 1 Dc in one arch, 4 VP, * 1 Dc in the next arch, 1 VP, 1 Dc in the next arch, 1 VP, 1 Dc + 1 VP + 1 DC in the next arch, 4 VP* - repeat until the end of the row. Complete row SS.

Further knitting proceeds in the same way. Each row the number of loops between the petals increases by one loop. The number of arches also increases, 1 Dc and 1 VP are knitted into each, and 1 Dc + 1 VP + 1 Dc are knitted into the last arch of the petal. Transitions between rows are similar. Using this principle, you can knit a mill motif of any size.

Video tutorial

As you understand, the text description of knitting the “Mill” pattern is poorly received. For those who do not know how to read patterns, but want to master this motif, below we post a video tutorial on knitting a windmill motif from one of the needlewomen. The windmill motif is crocheted there step by step, with detailed explanations. The same principles are used as described above.

What to knit from the “Mill” motifs

The “Mill” pattern is universal. This means that it is suitable for knitting clothes and even some interior items. Needlewomen insert this pattern into patterns for umbrellas, tablecloths, and napkins. But much more often, airy stoles are knitted with mill motifs. Moreover, both according to the scheme given on this page, and according to other, more complex schemes. Below you see an example of a stole.

The “Mill” pattern is no less often used when knitting summer T-shirts. Typically these are beach items worn by swimmers and provide maximum ventilation.

Summer tunic from Moda Crochet magazine 9/2009 is crocheted from 300 g of mercerized cotton with size 2. Size 42.

The pattern is based on a motif measuring 11 cm (between sides). Knit 1 motif, moisten it and let it dry completely. After this, measure the distance between the sides. If you get a motif of a different size or the suggested size does not suit you, then it is very easy to make adjustments. Mill motifs are good precisely because the number of rows in them can be reduced or increased without distorting the “vortex” pattern of the product.

Having determined the required number of rows in the motif, start knitting. All motifs are knitted separately and assembled with a row of connecting posts or a needle. When knitting from fine yarn assembly with a needle is preferable, as it allows you to connect the motifs almost imperceptibly, which is exactly what is needed when connecting mill motifs.

Tie the assembled tunic along all edges with a row of single crochets.
