DIY leather clutch from old boots

So, a new life for old things will be brought to life with the help of old boots, scissors, threads and your limitless imagination.

To begin with, we cut off the boot and select the most unworn areas; we also cut off the places where the leather has worn out with scissors.

The big advantage is that you don’t have to sew in a zipper - it was already there, and there was also some decor. Now, using the method of various selections and movements, we form the shape of the future exclusive leather clutch.

Nowadays, richly embroidered clutches are in fashion; they fit almost any look:

If you are a lover of less decorated things and believe that beauty is in simplicity, here is a master class on how to make such a clutch:

Even a not very experienced needlewoman can make a leather clutch with her own hands from old boots. Therefore, do not rush to get rid of trash; sometimes the new life of old things is brighter than the previous one.

To work you need:

90 g (one skein and not a whole one) of YarnArt Pearl thread (color purple, 115).
- Hook No. 3.5.
- Shoe awl (it has a hole or hook on the sharp end).
- Glue Moment-crystal or Secunda - in general, any transparent one.
- Shoes made of artificial suede (it does not shine and the threads slip on it less).

First, with an ordinary awl, you need to make holes in the leatherette of the shoe, no further than half a centimeter from the sole. It’s better, of course, to make holes as often as possible. You can space them at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from each other and the problem of gaps is solved. Then you need to stretch a thread into these holes - the same one you used to knit. It’s harder to do this at the toe. Mainly for the toe you need a shoe awl. In other places you can simply stitch with a thick needle. The ends of the threads are brought out, they can be hidden in knitting, but inside they can get in the way.

This is what the holes look like from the inside (from the inside they are right next to each other and are not visible unless you bend them so much)

Tie the resulting stitches with single crochets, and fill the gaps between the stitches with a chain of air loops - the number is determined by the distance. It is better to start knitting in the middle of the inside of the shoe - this is the most inconspicuous place and it is best to hide the transitions to the next row.
Sew more single crochets onto the resulting row. And lower this row down - it closed the transition to the sole.

And again, using the same warp threads and chain stitches, knit a row of double crochets. But not completely - tie the previously knitted piece of ribbon lace in front.

We take this part according to the diagram.

By attaching this part to the toe, it becomes clear to which place you need to tie the double crochets and after the last stitch, attach the part to the row. Work double crochets and single crochets as required by the lace detail, and continue double crochets on the other side of the shoe.

Then we take it not in a circle, but from the right side of the lace to the left. So, changing the double crochets and single crochets, so that in the last row you can knit a picot of three loops back from the lace. It turns out the shoes were knitted with a ladder. The last row was on top of the heel.

In the photo you can make out the ladder and the change of double crochets and single crochets. This is just the inside of the shoe, the most inconspicuous.

If something turned out uneven somewhere, don’t worry. At the end of the work, having secured and cut off all the threads, you can stretch the fabric so that a row of picots protrudes beyond the top of the shoe and coat the top of the shoe with glue and glue the knitted fabric.

A flower pot, birdhouse, jewelry organizer - this is not all that can be made from old shoes and boots. They will be useful even when it seems that they are no longer any good. What is it like - the second life of old shoes?

If the shoes have not lost their attractiveness outwardly, but have become small, chafing, or cannot be repaired, they can be used for green decoration. Once you plant several small plants in them and place them on the balcony or in front of the front door, not only the shoes, but also the space itself will be transformed.

Not so long ago, shoes and sandals with thick transparent soles were very popular. But fashion changes and now they are not very relevant, all that remains is to send them to the trash can, or turn them into creative flower pot. It will decorate the interior very stylishly and will definitely surprise guests.

It is convenient to work in the garden in sneakers or high boots with thick soles. But the more often you have to work in the garden, the faster such shoes become unusable. But don’t throw away your old shoes; they will be useful for decorating the garden and will become an interesting decorative element.

This idea will appeal to those who love to sew, embroider or do handicrafts, as well as those who have small children. The baby's shoes have to be changed most often, and they are so worn out that they can no longer be given to someone else or sold. But this is not a reason to throw away children's shoes. You can make a comfortable and beautiful pincushion out of it.

The same old garden shoes can easily be converted into comfortable birdhouses where birds will fly and delight with their singing. A very unusual use for old shoes!

Even old soles can be useful in everyday life. You can use them to make a budget garden path. This will not require any expense or time, but will last a long time and will be a practical solution for the garden.

Surprisingly, if you have some imagination, it’s not difficult to turn old shoes into beautiful and stylish jewelry organizers. This storage system will fit well into the interior of a woman’s bedroom.
