A delightful ribbon dahlia. Dahlia made from satin ribbons Dahlia bows made from satin ribbons

Flowers made using the kanzashi technique are mainly used as spectacular hair decorations in the form of elastic bands, headbands, hoops, hairpins, etc. But you can also make a lush color of dahlia or.

In today's lesson, we will look at several options for creating a spectacular dahlia from ribbons. Using the kanzashi technique, the dahlia turns out to be especially lush and beautiful. Step-by-step master class contains video and photos of the step-by-step process of making a flower.

This master class (MK) will examine the step-by-step process of creating a petal for a dahlia, as well as its assembly. It can be done quite quickly and simply. The lesson should begin, as usual, with the selection necessary materials and tools. So, for work, prepare:

  • satin ribbon 2.5 centimeters wide in a suitable shade;
  • soldering iron;
  • ceramic tiles or glass;
  • ruler;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

In order to make a dahlia from ribbons, cut the satin ribbon into strips nine and eight centimeters long, twenty pieces each, respectively. The resulting segments must be folded at an angle of ninety degrees. Next, you need to fold this element again. As a result, we get the following petal, folded along the front side, as in the photo:

At the next stage, we will need a soldering iron. We take a ceramic tile and solder it with its help. The photo shows better where to correctly carry out this process. You can also use a candle or lighter for these purposes.

Thus, we make the number of petals you need for your dahlia. The more similar blanks you make, the more magnificent your flower will look.

Next, the master class moves on to assembling the dahlia kanzashi. We are preparing a template, on the basis of which, using a soldering iron, it is necessary to cut out a circle with a diameter of four centimeters. This diameter of the circle will allow you to place about ten petals on it. After this, we sequentially begin to solder blanks of satin petals along the boundaries of the circle. The first row consists of blanks made from nine centimeter sections in the amount of ten pieces. The next row is soldered among the first and consists of the same amount. This row is also soldered among the petals of the previous one. Next come five eight-centimeter petals, and the remaining two rows of five parts are fixed with glue. This way you will cover the unsightly places left by the soldering iron.

This MK is completed, and you can admire what a beautiful dahlia from ribbons you can get from satin ribbons.

Dahlia with sharp petals

Another master class will show you the step-by-step creation of a dahlia with petals acute form. This lesson is step-by-step, which is especially suitable for beginners. Those who are just mastering the kanzashi technique.

To make a dahlia from ribbons, prepare:

  • wide and narrow satin ribbon in suitable shades;
  • scissors;
  • soldering iron;
  • glue.

Creating a dahlia using the kanzashi technique begins with cutting the ribbon into squares. We make segments of five centimeters. All you need to prepare:

  • three green elements five by five centimeters;
  • ten – pink (5X5);
  • twenty – pink (2.5X5).

Having made all the blanks, take a soldering iron. First, fold the petals in half with the wrong side inward. Next, using a metal ruler, you need to cut off the corner, thus making a sharp-shaped petal. After this, it is soldered with a soldering iron. The next step is to bend the ends to the outer part (closer to the center) and cut them off again using a pin.

We carry out similar actions with all petals. We make as many petals as you need for your dahlia. For work, it is best to use a tape five cm wide.

To make the base for the dahlia, cut two squares from green tape, onto which we apply glue along the wrong side. Glue and smooth them. It is necessary to cut a circle from this blank and singe the edges.

Kanzashi is an incredibly amazing Japanese technique for creating equally amazing flower arrangements from satin ribbons. Originally, kanzashi or kanzashi was a Japanese women's jewelry worn with a kimono. The history of this item is very interesting, but that’s not about that now. And about the technique of kanzashi needlework itself, about the unique technique of creating beautiful jewelry using pieces of fabric. One of the most beautiful flowers that can be created using the kanzashi technique is the dahlia.

What you will need

The set of materials for creating a dahlia kanzashi flower, in principle, is no different from any other sets when you work in this technique. So, you will need:

  • ribbon, preferably satin, up to 3 cm wide;
  • glue gun;
  • ruler;
  • scissors;
  • flower core;
  • base (this can be felt, cardboard, a piece of plastic);
  • candle or lighter.

Let's get to the fun part. First we need to prepare the kanzashi petals. To do this, we cut the satin ribbon into strips of about 5-6 cm, and we make 35-37 such stripes, it all depends on what kind of splendor you want to achieve in the dahlia kanzashi flower. And this directly depends on how many petals you prepare.

Now fold each ribbon in half lengthwise so that the wrong side is on the inside. After this, you need to cut off a corner and use a candle to seal the edge.

After this, you need to unfold the petal, carefully bend the lower corners and solder it again, only this time the base of the petal, like in the photo:

Such manipulations must be done with each of the prepared ribbons.

Now we take the base on which we will attach the petals. It could be a piece of plastic, tape itself, felt, cardboard.

Advice! If you chose tape for the base, then do not forget to process the workpiece itself so that it does not crumble.

We cut out a circle with a diameter of about 5 cm. If you are going to make a hair tie, then make sure that you immediately attach it to the base of the flower. By the way, the gum itself can become the core for a dahlia.

Then, stepping back a little from the edge, we begin to glue the first layer of kanzashi petals. It is important that the petals are located close to each other; do not put distances between them. Then the flower will turn out more magnificent and will look luxurious.

The second layer for the dahlia will already consist of fewer petals. Try to lay them as if between the petals, remember brickwork. The third layer will include even fewer petals, and so on until all of them are placed in the flower.

For a dahlia, you can choose several multi-colored ribbons, then the flower will look brighter and more interesting.

The center of a dahlia made from ribbons can be anything: just a core made of a button covered with ribbon, you can make stamens, or you can simply fill the entire space with petals.

The kanzashi technique also suggests other options for creating a dahlia. The next dahlia kanzashi mk involves using threads instead of a glue gun to hold the petals together. In addition, the petals themselves can be two-layered and, accordingly, two-colored. This flower looks richer and more original.

After you have prepared the required number of such petals, you need to string them on a thread like beads and then carefully pull them off. Don’t be afraid to use tapes of different densities, colors and shades in your workpieces.

There can be several layers and they can all be of different colors, combine, look at nature.

By the way, it is worth noting that in the kanzashi technique there are two types of petals: round and sharp, the other types of petals are derivatives of the original types.

Dahlias made from translucent ribbon and with round petals look very beautiful.

Dahlia with round petals

To create a floral masterpiece with round petals, you just need a 5 cm wide ribbon, sharp scissors, again a candle and glue. Let's prepare a square 5 by 5 cm. The sections need to be sealed with a candle so that they do not crumble. Then we bend the square corner to corner, and then solder the remaining corners to the third corner. As the picture shows:

After this, turn the petal over and bend the side corners towards the middle, you will get something like an envelope.

Kanzashi are Japanese traditional women's hair clips. These flowers are made from fabric and satin ribbons. The material is cut into squares, from which petals are formed. You can make flowers either single-layer or multi-layer, for example, dahlia.

The emergence of this technique

This type of decoration has been used for more than 400 years. These decorations were worn with a kimono. Kanzashi were made from silver, wood, etc. A special place is occupied by Hana kanzashi - these are hairpins with flowers made of fabric. These hairpins were made of silk. The petals were folded and the result was wonderful flowers. One of these flowers is the Kanzashi dahlia.

Today we will make mk dahlia kanzashi variety “Natalie” - this is one of the most beautiful varieties of this flower.

Dahlia kanzashi variety "Natalie"

To create such a flower you will need:

First, cut 96 pieces of 5 cm length. Trim the corner on one side.

Now you need to carefully singe the edges on both sides.

Start collecting the flower. To do this, take one piece and fold the uncut edges inward, directly overlapping.

Repeat this action with all the leaves. Mark exactly four points on Fet.

Glue four petals to the marked points, and then 12 more petals. In general, there should be 16 pieces in the first row.

For the seventh row, you need to glue two petals at the base. In this row there will be stamens and petals mixed together. You need 20 petals and 10 paired petals.

That's it, the flower is ready. The diameter of the flower was 13 cm.

Make crafts from different ribbons and decorate your home. For more explanation, look at the end of the article dahlia kanzashi video master class.

Experiment and create unusual products using the kanzashi technique. Use them to decorate hairpins, hairpins, boxes, glasses and much more. Using the kanzashi technique, you will give yourself a unique look and attract all attention to you.

Multi-layering will give the dahlia a unique image, which will make the flower come to life.

By adding a little rhinestones you will immediately give it a festive look.

DIY kanzashi dahlia

In order to make such a dahlia from ribbons, we need the following accessories, namely:

  • several shades of satin ribbons;
  • soldering iron;
  • glue;
  • ruler;
  • thick cardboard or a piece of plastic for the main part;
  • tweezers.

Take satin ribbons and draw squares on them with a ruler, each five centimeters wide. Using a soldering iron, they need to be cut. As a result, from three different tapes, you should have 120 pieces.

It is necessary to solder the corner of each square at an angle of 40 degrees, only with the wrong side in inner side as in the photo.

Take one square and place it in front of you, fold the edges end to end, as shown in our photo, using clear textile glue.

These are the kind of petals we should get after the work done.

Take thick cardboard or a plastic lid and cut a circle out of it, about five centimeters in diameter.
Now, let's start gluing the petals to our circle. We will make a three-dimensional dahlia, so the first tier is glued and layered on half of the next piece. But it's up to your choice and taste. In total, you should get four rows of petals, and the middle can be decorated with a large bead or rhinestone. Our dahlia kanzashi is completely ready.

Using different colored ribbons, you can make any variations of kanzashi dahlias, as well as select the required size and volume. The master class (mk) will help you create interesting flowers, but you must also use your imagination. And it will help you with this interesting video located on our portal.

– an exquisite decoration that can be used as decoration on a hair clip/scrunchy, attached to the chest as a brooch/boutonniere, or sewn onto a belt as a festive element. Regardless of the scope of application, this decoration looks very stylish. And it's so easy to create! Read on and you will learn how to make a dahlia from satin ribbons using the kanzashi technique with your own hands.

Level – easy. Manufacturing time: 1.5-2 hours.

Materials and tools:

  • a piece of white felt measuring 5x5 cm;
  • silk/satin ribbon in a soft pink shade, 2.5 cm wide;
  • scissors;
  • ready center for kanzashi;
  • hot gun or all-purpose glue;
  • ruler;
  • candle or lighter.

Step-by-step instructions with photos

Step 1: Cut the ribbon into lengths.

Cut 2.5 cm wide silk ribbon in soft pink or any other shade (optional) into 5 cm long pieces. You will need to make 28 of these pieces in total.
Step 2: Make a petal.

Take one of the segments.
Fold it in half lengthwise with the right side facing up. Use your fingers to smooth the center fold thoroughly.

On one side, along the cut line, lower the fabric down from the center fold by about one third. After this, lift the tape up exactly to the center line. Lower the remaining fabric from the middle line down.

Repeat the above manipulations with the remaining part of the tape on the other side. Gently pinch all formed folds with tweezers.

Step back the beginning of the segment by approximately 0.5 cm, after which cut the section from the central fold to the edges diagonally. Melt this part over the candle fire and seal it with your fingers. This step is optional, but it will make your petals look much neater.

On the opposite side of the piece, make a small fold exactly to the center line.
On the other side, make the same fold symmetrically.
Pinch the newly formed folds with tweezers. Melt them over a candle fire and seal them with your fingers. You have made one petal.

Using the same technique, make 27 more petals (28 in total).

Step 3: Collect the flower.

Cut out a neat circle from a piece of white felt measuring 5x5 cm.

Glue 8 petals symmetrically onto the circle using universal glue or a glue gun. This will be the first tier.

For the second tier, add 8 more petals to the felt. Glue these petals so that each top one is located exactly between the two bottom ones.
To make a third tier, add 6 more petals to the craft. When creating this circle, step back from the previous one by approximately 0.5 cm.

To make the fourth tier, add the remaining six petals to the decoration. Place them so that each top one is exactly between the two bottom ones.
Attach a suitable center for kanzashi to the middle. You can buy such a center ready-made in the store or make it yourself.

A charming do-it-yourself dahlia made from satin ribbons using the kanzashi technique is ready! We hope you enjoyed our master class? Happy crafting!
