Kate Middleton's Christmas party: plaid skirt, Scottish cashmere and fake snow. Pregnant Kate Middleton prefers short outfits

She proved that she can be stylish even while eight months pregnant. However, one peculiarity was noticed about her - in her position, Her Highness prefers shorter outfits than usual, the site reports.

Pregnant Kate Middleton prefers short outfits

The founder of one of the Duchess of Cambridge's most beloved brands, Seraphine, French designer Cecile Reinaud explained why Prince William's wife chooses shorter dresses during pregnancy.

The designer noted that Katherine wears dresses above the knee when she is pregnant, which she usually almost never does.

She especially likes short skirts in winter, when she wears opaque nylon tights and matching shoes or boots. In this outfit, she doesn’t look too naked, and her legs visually become even longer, leaner and more slender.

Prince William's wife doesn't normally wear above-the-knee skirts, but during pregnancy there is more "freedom" as people are "less subjective." However, it is important for royals to follow protocol and appear modest.

Meghan Markle follows her daughter-in-law's example

The new wife of Prince Harry, who is now four months pregnant and expecting her first child, also adheres to Catherine's rule.

"Meghan has very thin legs, which we got a good look at during the royal tour. She will probably have quite a big belly as she is very small and fragile... so it's important to accentuate her thin arms and legs - it's a great trick , which will help preserve the silhouette,” noted the designer.

Meanwhile, six months have passed since the birth of Kate Middleton's third child. Now the Duchess has returned to her previous form. However, not all her fans liked this. Some came to the conclusion that the daughter-in-law of Elizabeth II had lost too much weight.

Day after day, the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine is increasingly establishing herself as the main nonconformist of the British royal court, and this applies not only to her liberal methods of raising children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, but also to her own wardrobe. As confirmation of our words, there are photographs of the Duchess in which Middleton in a minidress went to the Hornsey Road children's center (and just a week before, Kate came to the Place2Be forum in a minidress).

The attitude towards this most controversial length of a woman’s skirt is still ambiguous not only among the top of the aristocracy. What can we say, even if the author of the mini is still definitely unknown: either the eccentric British Mary Quant, or the eccentric Frenchman Andre Courrèges.

However, all these remarks have never touched Kate Middleton, who, to be honest, loves minis with all her heart. Prince William's wife's wardrobe was criticized for being too conservative, and in some places downright boring - and only for this reason one could assume that the duchess would be criticized for her inappropriately short length. In fact, this does not happen: even the most ardent critics of the duchess's style retreated with a shrug. Why is that? Let's figure it out!

Katherine pairs minis with thick tights

The safest way out of the situation if you suddenly decide to wear a mini is to pair thick tights with a short skirt. This advice becomes especially relevant in the cold season: thick black 120 den tights, unlike thin nearly black ones, will not allow your feet to freeze. In addition, the black “canvas” on the legs significantly reduces the degree of sex appeal of the mini: the Duchess knows this better than others.

Katherine wears minis with heels or high boots

Another secret to avoid being branded as a frivolous girl in a mini is to choose the right shoes. For example, flat boots or shoes with stable heels.

The first ones almost completely eliminate the mini effect, and a stable heel, in addition to its convenience in practice, is also aesthetically the most complimentary to the shape of the female leg and the female figure in principle. Seductive stilettos (or, as it has become fashionable to call them, “stilettos”), although they look amazing, definitely do not meet the wardrobe requirements of a pregnant duchess.

Katherine wears a closed top mini

No exposure in the upper part of the figure is an immutable testament to Kate Middleton's style. And it doesn’t matter at all what length the skirt at the bottom is: maximum, average or minimum.

Paradoxically, the last option turns out to be the best combination with a closed jacket: there is something romantic and, forgive the cliché, French elegant in such images (even for the British aristocracy this is an excellent compliment).

Katherine knows when to stop

Minis on Catherine can be found quite often, but more often the Duchess of Cambridge chooses skirts and dresses with a “royal” length - a palm below the knee (or, in extreme cases, at least a couple of inches below the knee). Therefore, apparently, she can be forgiven for wearing miniskirts, although they directly violate royal etiquette. What Queen Elizabeth II thinks about this, one can only guess.

Today the Dukes of Cambridge attended a Christmas party at Kensington Palace, which was organized for the families and children of RAF soldiers.

The event was organized to support the families of those soldiers who are at the Akrotiri Royal Air Base on Christmas Day.

For her festive visit, Kate chose a very interesting outfit that met all the requirements of the royal dress code. A red gingham skirt from Cathrine Walker and a black Scottish cashmere fitted top with small buttons in a row from Brora were complemented by black suede boots, jewelry and a favorite Cartier watch.

William chose to wear a dark blue polo jumper and matching trousers.

It is worth noting that the dukes were in high spirits, joked and smiled sweetly at everyone present.

Before the ceremony, the royal couple walked under artificial snow, which was sprayed from special structures. It looked very romantic!

As it became known, tomorrow Kate and William will hold another official reception, but this time in Cyprus.

We remind you that it was leaked online. In 2015, a year before meeting the prince, Megan visited Malta to find out information about her ancestors, and it was there that photographs were taken of the future duchess posing in jeans and a T-shirt. It is worth noting that photographs from Megan’s past life quite rarely appear on the Internet and each of their appearances arouses great interest among fans. Do you want to know what Meghan looked like before she became Harry's wife?

The day before it became known that Elizabeth II recommended that the Duchess of Cambridge follow the royal dress code and reconsider her clothing style. This has become relevant in light of the upcoming official trip of Prince William and Kate Middleton to Australia and New Zealand.

Perhaps the Queen is worried about the appearance of the mother of her great-grandson, so Kate’s personal stylist, Angela Kelly, has already taken care of Kate’s wardrobe. In the meantime, while everyone is wondering what the Duchess's new look will be, we carefully studied her favorite things and tried to guess what would be worthy of royal approval, and what would be criticized.

In a white suit, complemented by a red hat with a maple leaf - the symbol of Canada, Kate Middleton appeared at her first official event as the wife of Prince William. The young duchess looked charming. Her look was completed with red pumps and a clutch, also decorated with the symbol of Canada. Let's hope this suit remains in Kate Middleton's wardrobe, even though it's shorter than the queen's recommended length.

The Duchess carefully chooses clothes for going out. For example, on St. Patrick's Day, when traditionally everyone dresses in green, Kate Middleton wore a pine-colored dress and decorated it with a shamrock, the official symbol of the holiday. In this image, the wife of Prince William, as part of the royal family, took part in the parade organized in honor of St. Patrick.

The look Kate Middleton chose for her appearance at the concert in honor of the Olympic Games was certainly worthy of the praise of Elizabeth II. In a turquoise dress by British designer Jenny Packham, the Duchess looked like a diva from the 1930s. A long flowing dress with spectacular openwork inserts and an elegant bun hairstyle undoubtedly made Kate the beauty queen of the evening.

Let's hope that this outfit from Kate's wardrobe will not be sent into exile by the Queen's personal stylist Angela Kelly, who is entrusted with creating the duchess's new look. Kate Middleton visited the Academy of Arts in a pearl-colored dress from designer Roksanda Ilincic. The highlight of the rather modest but very elegant look was the unusual cut of the bodice. The Duchess chose earrings made of light stone as accessories. Let's assume they were diamonds.

Most likely, after a thorough examination of Kate Middleton's wardrobe by the Queen's stylist, the light, almost weightless dresses she so loved will disappear. For example, yellow from Jenny Packham, the fluttering hem of which exposed the duchess’s slender legs. There are rumors that such outfits, which could compromise the mother of the future heir to the throne, prohibited from wearing. And in order to avoid getting into embarrassing situations due to gusts of wind in the future, Kate will be advised to use the queen’s secret, a thin metal chain is sewn into the hem of her dresses. We assume that the image of the Duchess, which she chose to appear at the London premiere of the film “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” will also be criticized. Kate Middleton wore a long dress with a high slit in the color of baked milk by designer Roland Mouret. When walking, its hem swung open a little, allowing part of the leg to be seen. Given the current criticism of the queen, we will no longer see this dress on Kate.

As did the necklace she chose for the film’s premiere. Jewelry from Zara, costing 35 dollars, does not suit the daughter-in-law of Elizabeth II. Therefore, instead of jewelry after the transformation, she will wear exclusively expensive jewelry.

A short pleated skirt from Orla Kiely, which also lifted up due to a strong gust of wind during the Duchess's meeting with students from St. Edmund's School, may also fall out of favor. Nevertheless, Middleton was not embarrassed, catching the hem with the usual movement of her hand. However, the queen probably made conclusions about Kate’s wardrobe that time too.

Between style and following strict rules, the Duchess always chooses the former, and perhaps it is thanks to this that she has earned the love of fashion critics. ELLE's review includes 10 images of the Duchess that do not comply with the royal dress code (but are no less successful for that reason).

1. Gala dinner during a visit to Canada

The red Preen by Thornton Bregazzi dress fully complied with the norms in length, but had a neckline that was too revealing by royal standards, focusing attention on the duchess’s collarbones.

2. Concert in honor of the Olympic Games in London

At the gala evening in honor of the Olympic Games, Kate shone in a turquoise Jenny Packham dress. According to fans of the Duchess, she became a real star of that day, despite the fact that her outfit was contrary to the rules of the evening royal dress code due to a rather deep neckline combined with a lace back.

3. BAFTA Awards 2017

One of the rules of the royal dress code states: bare shoulders are acceptable during an evening outing, but only if the hands are covered with gloves. At the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, Catherine appeared in a shoulder-baring Alexander McQueen dress, but without gloves.

4. Gala evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Another time when the Duchess chose an outfit with dropped shoulders, but refused gloves, was a gala dinner at the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art during an official trip to New York. Then Kate settled on a blue-green dress from one of her favorite brands, Jenny Packham.

5. Official visit to Calgary

According to the dress code, straight-cut dresses are considered the most preferred for royalty, since tight dresses do not provide the necessary freedom of movement, and too fluffy ones can play a cruel joke in windy weather. Light flowy dresses are Katherine's favorite option for the summer, but because of them she got into awkward situations several times. So, at the Calgary airport, Kate got off the plane in a feminine mimosa-colored Jenny Packham dress with a circle skirt. With every gust of wind, Prince William's wife had to hold her skirt, which somewhat constrained the duchess.

7. Meeting with Action for Children wards in South Wales

The minimum permitted skirt length in the royal family is mid-knee, but Kate Middleton loves to show off her slender legs. In South Wales, where she was expected to meet the wards of the Action for Children Foundation, the Duchess arrived in a Paule Ka suit, consisting of a jacket and miniskirt. Kate managed to harmonize the look with a black turtleneck, tights, high boots and gloves.
