Most lovers make their own valentines out of paper. There are many ways on how to make a valentine with your own hands from the most different materials- cardboard, salt dough, felt and even sweets.

The history of the most romantic holiday - Valentine's Day

Whether it be true or not, the legend about the cruel emperor Claudius, who saw in every young man a warrior, not a family man, has forever remained, and therefore imposed the strictest prohibition on marriages.

But love will always find a way: even on the battlefield, lovers were able to combine with sacred ties thanks to the holy father Valentine. He married many happy couples before he was exposed and put to death. And no matter how many years have passed since then, his name has not been forgotten. Every year in honor of this priest, Valentine's Day is celebrated.

And in memory of the messages that Valentine himself conveyed to his beloved, on this day all lovers send each other symbolic declarations of love - valentines.

Greeting card with heart and roses

You can simply cut a heart out of it. Or you can make this heart part of a postcard by decorating it with impromptu rosebuds. We cut out the roses from paper rolled into a tube.

We glue the roses to the base - the heart.

Decorate the card with twisted green paper elements. A beautiful card for Valentine's Day with roses - ready!

Heart shaped paper valentine

You can make a very beautiful heart-shaped card out of paper. For this we need blanks as in the photo.

Glue a pink heart on a red openwork heart. WITH back side you can also glue a red heart in the same way (this will add volume to the craft).

We glue the congratulatory inscription.

We glue the frame and a small heart on the side. DIY valentine - ready!

You can make a real beautiful postcard for Valentine's Day. To do this, we decorate another red heart and attach it to our valentine using a special rivet (it can be found in scrapbooking kits)

DIY valentine card with palms and a heart

This valentine card with palms will be a very delicate touching gift. We glue two layers of white and purple paper so that the purple layer protrudes slightly beyond the white one.

Cut out a heart from red paper and fold it like an accordion.

We glue a heart and flowers to the palms. We glue a congratulatory inscription or a declaration of love below.

You can arrange a paper heart in an even more original way - with miniature chrysanthemums, which are easily made from a cut paper strip. Cut the pink paper into strips and make cuts along one of the edges. We wind the strip on a stick, fixing the tip with glue.

We straighten the ends a little - we get a delicate pink flower. We make a lot of these flowers.

We cut out a heart from red paper and decorate it with our flowers. Congratulations and declarations of love can be located inside!

Heart - valentine card with roses

Cut a heart out of red cardboard and make holes along the edges. We trim the edge of the heart with a ribbon.

Cut out a circle from yellow paper. We twist it and fasten it with a stapler according to the pattern.

We glue the stems, leaves and flowers on the heart. We decorate the lower part with a ribbon. We will have a gorgeous valentine card with flowers.

Valentines from cardboard and rhinestones

Cardboard valentines look even more original and thorough, especially those decorated with glue rhinestones and sequins. Cut out hearts from thick cardboard and paint them.

When the paint is dry we glue beautiful large rhinestones.

Hearts can be made in any colors... We will have a very simple and bright valentine.

Sequin valentine

You can make an ordinary paper heart fabulously beautiful by gluing bright shiny sequins to it.

Sequins can cover the entire surface paper heart- this will make it graceful and airy.

And you can also make a valentine-shaped decoration for February 14: you just need to glue a stick to a ready-made or homemade heart with your own hands - a holder.

We will succeed very beautiful decoration in the form of a heart.

No less original idea- multilayer valentines made of thin papyrus paper. It is enough to cut out several identical hearts.

Place in a pile and sew in the center.

We straighten our voluminous hearts. Ready! You can tie threads to them and use them as decorations.

A valentine looks even more interesting - a souvenir made of beads and beads. For our heart, we used beads and chenille wire.

We string the first bead and fix it with a knot.

String the rest of the beads one at a time and fix the ends of the chenille wire. We bend the wire in the shape of a heart.

Salty dough lovers can take it as the basis of their hearts. Knead salty dough and roll it out. Cut out the hearts with the help of molds.

Dry the hearts in the oven.

We paint the hearts with red paint.

Until the paint has frozen, sprinkle the hearts with red sparkles.

Salted dough valentines can be easily converted into pendants and key chains.

Watch how to make a valentine heart from salted dough in the video:

And from corrugated paper and foam you can make voluminous heart decorated with ribbons. Cut out the base of the craft from the foam.

We decorate the base corrugated paper... Using double-sided tape, glue the ribbons and tape along the edges.

It can be a great candy base. We also fix it on the heart with double-sided tape. We got a wonderful decoration and delicious gift for Valentine's Day.

Watch how to make a valentine from sweets in the video:

Valentines made in the popular scrapbooking technique look very interesting. Cut out a heart folded in half from colored scrapbooking paper. We glue an openwork red snowflake and a drawing with a heart on it.

We glue the angel figurine and decorate the composition with paper flowers and a ribbon.

You can use whatever materials and inscriptions you have available. The main thing in scrapbooking is layering.

An alternative to them can be hearts using the quilling technique, which will decorate any postcard. We twist colored rolls from special paper tapes for quilling.

Place the rolls on a cardboard base in the shape of a heart.

We glue our heart to the base of the postcard, folded cardboard in half. We supplement the card with flowers, lace, a heart and a congratulatory inscription. These little décor items can be found in your craft and hobby store.

Valentines from felt

Felt is one of the most favorite materials for creativity. Felt valentines turn out to be very delicate and touching. To make valentines, we cut out two large identical hearts and one smaller heart from colored felt.

We process the edges of the small heart with stitches and decorate it with decorative stitches and a button. We sew it to the big heart. We also decorate the big heart with stitches and beads. Next, we sew two big hearts between themselves, leaving a small hole. We fill the heart with padding polyester and sew up the hole.

A very original valentine can be made from wire and beads. For work, we need an easily bendable wire of medium thickness. The best way to work with the wire is with small pliers.

For those who want to turn a valentine into a real gift, there is such an option as a topiary. It can be a simple topiary in the form of a volumetric cardboard heart, planted in flower pot... To make such a topiary, we glue or sew several hearts in the center. We straighten them and attach them to the rod. We decorate the rod with leaves and a ribbon.

We fix the rod in the pot

We decorate the bottom in a pot with sisal. We will get a very effective gift for Valentine's Day.

Topiary with coffee hearts

Or maybe a more original product in the form of a voluminous coffee tree - a heart. For the craft, we need Styrofoam hearts. We color them in Brown color and glue it with threads and coffee beans.

We fix the twigs in the pot

We fix hearts on the top of the branches. It remains to decorate the topiary with bows. A very elegant Valentine's Day gift - ready!

Whichever idea you dwell on, remember the main thing: this valentine will always be the best for its addressee, because a piece of your love and warmth will remain in it.

Valentine's card can be decorated with another symbol of Valentine's Day - an angel.

Hairpin - Valentine Kanzashi

Origami valentine on a stand

Tree with 3D valentines

A tree with valentines with your own hands will help create a romantic atmosphere.

To make such a tree, we need:

  • pink paper
  • shiny braid
  • birds (sold in any art store)
  • branches
  • white spray paint or acrylic
  • white jug or vase

How to make a tree:

  • first you need to collect several branches in a bunch (not one or two, but several, since too rare branches on our tree will not look very attractive), cut the branches to the same length
  • cover the branches with paint - either spray or acrylic
  • evenly distribute the birds on the branches and fix them either with clothespins (often sold complete with birds), or we tie them with a ribbon

  • for 3D valentines, we need hearts cut out of pink paper, which are cut as follows: one to the middle at the top, the other to the middle at the bottom. Then we insert hearts into each other through these slots, stretch the ribbon - 3D hearts are ready

  • we hang valentines evenly on all branches
