Message quote Double-sided knitting of jacquard patterns. Master Class

In this master class I will show you how double-sided knitting jacquard pattern. As a result of this knitting, a double fabric is obtained, as if I were knitting an ordinary hollow elastic band with the only difference that in the case of jacquard pattern:
1) the back and front fabrics are interlocked with each other at the places where the threads are changed;
2) because Since two threads are used in knitting, when knitting the front row of the fabric, the purl row is also knitted at the same time.

I will knit a whale like this.

To do this, you will need threads of two contrasting colors and knitting needles of a suitable size.

1. I put two threads together and cast on 18 double loops in the usual way. There are 36 loops on the knitting needle - 18 green and 18 lilac. Important! The loops must alternate.

2. I start knitting the first row. The first loop on the knitting needle is green. This means that in this row the front side of the fabric will be green and the green stitches will be knitted. And the reverse (wrong) side of the fabric is lilac and the lilac loops will be knitted purl. When knitting, both threads are on the finger. Important! The threads do not intertwine with each other, but run parallel to each other. When knitting a knit stitch, both threads are located behind the work.
So, I knit the first stitch.

3. The second loop is lilac, I knit it purlwise, both threads are in front of the work.

4. The third loop is the loop of the front fabric, I knit it with the front one. Let me draw your attention once again, now the threads are at work.

5. The fourth loop is a loop of the back fabric, I knit it with a purl lilac thread. The threads are in front of the work.

6. And once again - front...

7. ... and purl.

8. I knitted 6 loops - 3 loops of the front and 3 loops of the back fabric.

9. In this way we knit until the end of the row. This is how the front side turned out and...

10. ... the wrong side of the fabric.

11. The second row is knitted similarly. The only difference is that now the front side of the canvas is already lilac, and the back side is Green colour. This is what the front side looks like...

12. ... wrong side of the work at the end of the second row.

13. The drawing begins from the 3rd row. The first four pairs of stitches are knitted as in the previous rows. The next 7 pairs of loops are the pattern. In order to get a pattern, it is necessary to swap the threads before starting to knit the pattern, i.e. knit green front loops with lilac thread, purl lilac loops with green thread.

14. To do this, I leave the green thread aside while working and use a lilac thread to knit the front loop of the first pair of loops of the pattern, and...

15. ... I knit a purl loop with green thread.

16. In this way I knit all 7 pairs of stitches in the pattern. Please note that you can see on the canvas where the threads were changed.

17. The next 7 pairs of loops are background loops, so I again change the threads and knit the green front loops with a green thread, and the lilac purl loops with a lilac thread.

18. This is what the front side of the fabric looks like at the end of the row.

19. In the next row, read the drawing in the opposite direction, from left to right. The first 6 pairs of loops are background loops, after the thread I change places and knit 9 pairs of pattern loops.

20. Then again change the threads and knit the background. Already at this stage, the first row of the drawing becomes visible.

21. This is what the wrong side of the fabric looks like at the end of the row.

22. Then I continue knitting. Intermediate results of work.

23. And here is the result. The fabric turned out to be 18 loops x 15 rows in size.

This knitting method is especially good for knitting winter hats. And to make the inlaid edge even more neat, you can use

Knitting a sweater with round yoke per child

Author: Natalia Grukhina
Knitting a sweater with a round yoke for a child (size 86-92 for ages 1.5-3 years)
When I first saw this sweater on the cover of the magazine "Til fjells 0611", I simply fell in love with it and the very next day I rushed to buy the magazine.
Unfortunately, they didn’t sell it to me, because... I would have to buy thread along with the magazine.
I had to draw up a diagram of the drawing myself based on this photograph, not the one best quality. This is what I ended up with:

This sweater is knitted from top to bottom (neck to rib) and has no seams. This method of knitting is convenient because, if necessary, the product can be easily tied by unraveling only rows of elastic, and not the entire product.

Thanks to the interesting jacquard pattern and the round yoke, an integral element Norwegian sweaters, and also due to the red and white color scheme, this sweater looks very trendy in winter period, especially during the Christmas holidays.
Advice: Before starting knitting, I recommend reading tips on knitting items with a round yoke.
To knit a sweater with a round yoke, we will need:
- 200 gr. red yarn (100% wool, 50 g = approx. 100 m) Gjestal Superwash, color 204;
- 50 gr. white yarn (100% acrylic, 50 g = approx. 133 m) Schachenmayr Nomotta Idena Plus, color 8253;
- circular knitting needles No. 3 and 4 (preferably 2 pairs);
- stocking needles No. 3 and 4.

You will need

Yarn (70% merino wool, 30% alpaca wool; 90 m/50 g) - 800 (850) 900 g burgundy, 300 (350) 400 g beige and 200 (250) 300 g black; knitting needles No. 5.5; long circular knitting needles No. 5.5.

Patterns and schemes

Small pearl pattern

Odd number loops Chrome, alternately knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, chrome. Shift the loops after each row.

Facial surface

Front rows - front loops, purl rows - purl loops.

Jacquard pattern

Rapport = 6 or 16 p.

Knit according to in a counted stitch pattern using threads from different balls in the Norwegian technique, while the unused thread is freely pulled on the wrong side of the work.

The diagram shows the persons. and out. rows.

In rows 1–49 and rows 85–125, repeat 32 (35) 38 times, ending with the first 3 loops of repeat.

In the 50th row (= purl row), distribute the loops as follows, while reading the loops of the counting pattern from left to right: start with the last 0 (1) 2 stitches of repeat, repeat 12 (13) 14 times, finish with the first 3 ( 4) 5 points of rapport. Distributing the loops in this way, knit up to the 84th row.

Complete rows 1–125 once.

Knitting density

17 p. x 30 r. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with a small pearl pattern;
placket: 6 p. = width 4 cm;
18 p. x 22 r. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with a jacquard pattern.

Attention!

Knit the back and fronts up to the armholes in a single fabric, while to relieve the shoulders, knit on long circular knitting needles in rows in the forward and reverse directions. Then finish the parts separately.

Pattern

Completing of the work

Back and shelves

With black thread, cast on 207 (225) 243 sts on the knitting needles and for the placket, knit 3.5 cm with a small pearl pattern.

Continue working as follows: 1 knotted edge (= knit knit in each row) + 5 stitches with a small pearl pattern using black thread (= 6 stitches of the strap), 195 (213) 231 stitches with a jacquard pattern, 5 stitches with a small pearl pattern + 1 knotted edging with black thread (= 6 stitches of strip).

Attention
The outer 58 (62) 66 p. + 6 p. strips form the shelves, the middle 79 (89) 99 p. - the back.

Starting from the 23rd row of the jacquard pattern, continue the strips on both sides with threads from 1 separate black ball, respectively, and when changing the color, cross the threads on the wrong side of the work to avoid the formation of holes.

After 57 cm = 125 rows from the placket, finish the jacquard pattern with 1 purl. near purl loops burgundy thread, while to balance the pattern, evenly distributing, subtract 10 (12) 14 sts = 197 (213) 229 sts.

After 57.5 cm = 126 rows from the plank, continue working between the black planks with a small pearl pattern with burgundy thread.

Attention
The outer 55 (59) 63 p. + 6 p. strips form the shelves, the middle 75 (83) 91 p. - the back.

After 23.5 cm = 70 rows (21.5 cm = 64 rows) 19.5 cm = 58 rows from changing the pattern, leave the outer 55 (59) 63 stitches + 6 stitches for the shelves.

Back

Continue working on the middle 75 (83) 91 sts with a small pearl pattern with burgundy thread, while casting off 1 x 1 st for the armholes on both sides in the 1st row, then casting off 4 x 1 st in every 2nd row = 65 (73) 81 p.

After 42.5 cm = 128 rows from changing the pattern, close off 1 x 3 stitches on both sides for the shoulder bevel, then in every 2nd row close off 1 x 3 stitches and 3 x 3 (4) 5 stitches.

At the same time, after 44 cm = 132 rows from changing the pattern, close off the middle 19 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

To round along the inner edge, cast off 1 x 3 stitches and 1 x 2 stitches in every 2nd row.

After 46 cm = 138 rows from changing the pattern, close off the remaining 3 (4) 5 shoulder stitches.

Left shelf

Cast on the last remaining 55 (59) 63 loops + 6 bar loops on the knitting needles and continue working according to. thread color and pattern.

I will make an armhole and a shoulder bevel along the right edge, as on the back.

At the same time, for the neck, after 40.5 cm = 122 rows from changing the pattern, leave 6 loops of the strap and bind off the next 18 loops, then in every 2nd row, bind off 6 x 2 stitches and 2 x 1 stitches. At the height of the back, bind off the remaining 3 ( 4) 5 shoulder stitches.

Right shelf

Knit the same as the left one, but in a mirror image.

Sleeves

Using black thread, cast on 47 (53) 59 stitches on the knitting needles for each sleeve and knit 3.5 cm with a small pearl pattern for the placket.

Continue working with the jacquard pattern, starting with 1 edge stitch, repeating 7 (8) 9 times, finishing with the first 3 repeat loops and 1 edge loop.

After 16.5 cm = 36 rows from the bar, add 1 x 1 p. to bevel the sleeves on both sides, then in every 8th row 2 x 1 p. and in every 6th row 7 x 1 p. acc. pattern and color of thread.

At the same time, distribute the jacquard pattern in rows 50–72 so that 1 star motif (= the first 13 stitches of the counting pattern) is located on the middle 13 stitches of the sleeve.

After 32.5 cm = 72 rows from the bar, finish the jacquard pattern.

Continue working with a small pearl pattern using burgundy thread, while continuing to increase for the sleeve bevel = 67 (73) 79 sts.

Attention!
The increase in width due to different knitting densities on the pattern is taken into account in the size of the sleeve bevel.

For a low sleeve roll, after 10 cm = 30 rows from changing the pattern, close off 1 x 1 stitch on both sides, then close off 4 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row.

After 13.5 cm = 40 rows from changing the pattern, close off the remaining 57 (63) 69 stitches.

Belt

Using black thread, cast on 259 (269) 279 stitches on the needles and knit with a small pearl pattern, while knitting 5 rows of black, 6 rows of burgundy and 5 rows of black thread.

After 5.5 cm = 16 rows from the initial row, use black thread to bind off all loops according to. pattern.

Assembly

Sew shoulder seams.

For the hood strap, again cast on 6 loops of black strips on the knitting needles and continue working with a small pearl pattern, while in the 1st row along the inner edge add 1 edge knit crossed from a transverse thread = 7 sts. After 43 cm from the set of loops, close the loops.

Sew the ends of the planks.

For the hood, using burgundy thread, cast on 147 stitches on circular needles along the inner longitudinal edge of the hood strap and knit with a small pearl pattern. For a rounded edge of the neck, after 6 cm = 18 rows from the set of loops, close 1 x 1 p. on both sides, then in every 2nd row, close 17 x 1 p. and after the last decrease, weave 1 mark into the edge on both sides. Next, for the back edge, close on both sides in every 2nd row 5 x 7 sts and 1 x 9 sts. For the back of the hood, knit another 26 cm on the remaining 23 loops with a small pearl pattern, then close the loops according to the pattern.

Sew the edges of the back of the hood on both sides to the back edge up to the mark, pressing it down slightly if necessary. Sew the hood into the neck. Sew the seams of the sleeves and, slightly adjusting, sew in the sleeves.

The story of how I knitted a coat. Despite the fact that I have always treated knitted coats with distrust, I still love knitwear and consider its possibilities limitless :)

So, I knitted the coat for about a month. Its history is simple and stretches from the depths of centuries. Several years ago I bought yarn online. I ordered Magic from Yarn Art (200 m per 100 g) of one color (473), but they brought another (577). They explained it simply - they didn’t have the right color :)) I wanted to swear, I was upset, and then I resigned myself. The coloring was also okay. I thought that as a last resort I would give it as a gift. Over time, I never began to like the combination of green and burgundy. There was also no one to give it to. These colors don't suit everyone. Then I wanted to master entrelak, and such sections would be just right. But nothing worked out. And then the dream of jacquard took possession of me. I began to imagine that this section could simply be connected to another and it wouldn’t be so gloomy. And then I came across Trinity yarn. And they have a roving of the same thickness, but with acrylic in the composition). And this roving is not entirely “even” in terms of color. In the line of this yarn, some shades are available in melange. That solved everything. I chose several colors. Light lilac, beige-sand, cold light gray with burgundy specks and the basis of the entire palette is blue-green, the color of a deep sea wave. For the last project, I already bought a thimble for jacquard. The needles chosen were “thick” No. 3 (I knit with jacquard even more loosely than usual). I calculated the width and length of the “skirt” of the coat and went to knit in the round from the bottom. Because it was both lazy and somehow unsure to calculate from above and select colors. At the same time I made myself some beautiful markers. Because I started making reductions in eight places. I looked for patterns on the Internet and made them up on the fly. I drew on a whole notebook. Because the rapport changed with every decrease. It was very enjoyable and exciting knitting! By the end of the skirt, it became clear that I might not have enough yarn and I began to look for where to buy more. And I bought two additional skeins of the same Magic and one pink-brown color (597). I immediately included this pink in the patterns. It was simply necessary. The bust darts weren't a problem either, but then the armholes started. I knitted two sleeves and connected everything on one needle. In short, there are no seams in the carcass. Only everyone knits an imitation set-in stitch on top, but for some reason everything is done on the bottom. Well, I'm inventing the wheel myself :))
In general, the new skeins we ordered were never useful, and all the pink ones were gone. Also, one skein each was used for lilac, sand, and light gray. Blue-green - two skeins. And the original green-burgundy one is almost six. Total almost 1200 gr. The collar is entirely knitted; I did not dial it on again, but decreased it along the neckline, leaving the loops on the knitting needle. The placket is with jacquard, because the yarn was running out and one blue one simply wouldn’t be enough, but I liked it with jacquard. I sewed the zipper in some clever way, found on Pinterest. I added lining and shoulder pads to everything. I deliberately refused pockets. In general, this is the result. My size is about 48 Russian, height 160. My model has completely different parameters.

And a couple of photos on my body so that you can see the difference in sizes :) But my wardrobe is completely unselected, especially shoes. And I’m too critical of myself, so there was a chance that if I didn’t shoot on someone, I’d never show the coat :)
