Shoe harness, it’s a shame to post such a modest thing after the previous links, but it also has a right to exist - not everyone is greedy for glitter, not only men are brutal. Let's look.

Shoes: genuine leather turn into suede

Shoes: we turn genuine leather into suede, in short: sprinkle with any alcohol (vodka, alcohol), fill the inside and rub the surface with a wire brush, sandpaper or pumice. I guess it depends on the quality of the leather. Process in photo.

Shoes with fabric tongues

Once shoes become loved, it is very difficult to part with them. I want to wear it all the time. But this, unfortunately, is not always possible, because every item has its own expiration date. Shoes often get damaged. But this does not mean that it should be immediately thrown into the trash. There are many options on how you can revive worn shoes so that they become much better than they were before. We have collected the most popular methods of shoe restoration and alteration that anyone can use.

Turning leather into suede

If old leather boots already quite worn out, but I don’t have the strength to part with them, I have great way save your favorite pair - convert leather into suede. To do this, you need to stuff the inside of the boots well with paper so that they do not lose their shape. Then sprinkle with any alcohol (vodka is good for this) and rub the shoes with a wire brush or pumice stone. Of course, the effect depends primarily on the quality of the skin. This trick won't work with a cheap option.

Boots with glitter

Any tired or old shoes can be easily transformed into glamorous and elegant ones. To do this, you need to seal the heel with tape (so that the glitter does not spoil it), thickly grease the metal parts (zippers and rivets) with Vaseline, and stuff the inside with bags or paper so that the shoes keep their shape well. Next, you should lubricate small areas of the shoes with glue and sprinkle them with glitter, and, to be sure, you can press them with your fingers. By the way, you shouldn’t skimp on glitter, otherwise your shoes may turn out “spotty.” That's all. Now you just need to dry the boots and voila - glamorous shoes are ready. Tip: shoes with smooth leather must first be wiped with sandpaper, otherwise the glitter may quickly fall off.

Golden slippers

In order to transform ordinary shoes into shiny ones, we suggest using the previous advice with some amendments. Patent leather shoes also need to be polished sandpaper, so the glitter will stick better. But, before coating, we recommend that you first mix the glitter and glue in a separate container, and then apply it to the surface of the shoes with a brush. By the way, since this process is quite “dirty”, we recommend laying down newspaper first, otherwise the sparkles will spread throughout the apartment with crazy force.

We restore fabric sneakers

If small scuffs or holes appear on the fabric base of your favorite sneakers, it’s not a problem. Defects can be corrected with a patch. To do this, you must first sew a piece of raincoat fabric onto the worn areas. It is best to do this from the outside so as not to experience discomfort while wearing it. Then you need to cut out a piece of the patch of the desired shape, remove the protective film from it and apply the fabric to the shoes. Using an iron preheated to maximum, iron the thermal patch until the wrinkles disappear.

Remaking boring sandals

If you no longer want to wear old sandals, but it’s a pity to throw them away, then they can easily be remade. All you need is nail polish or spray paint. Shoes with straps are best suited for this alteration, because they are the ones that need to be varnished. Of course, you should also paint the toe and heel, if there is one.

To whiten the white soles of sneakers or sneakers, which get dirty very quickly, you need to grind the powder citric acid over the entire surface of the sole. The shoes should be left for a while and then washed off with water. An old toothbrush and whitening paste are another proven way to deal with dirt on the soles of sneakers.
To wash shoes in washing machine, you must definitely put it in a special bag. Then select a delicate wash cycle with a water temperature no higher than 30 degrees.

But there is another problem that everyone faces while wearing shoes - this is bad smell, which is sometimes very difficult to overcome. But it’s still possible, because it exists

It happens that there is a pair of shoes that you are already tired of, but it’s a shame to throw them away because they are so comfortable. Or maybe you somewhere tore off the heel or toe of your favorite shoes. It will no longer be possible to sell them, so there is only one way out - to save them. So, let's see what can be used for camouflage and decoration.

1. Glitter

All you need is PVA glue, a brush and glitter. You just need to coat clean, dry shoes with glue and sprinkle them with glitter, which can be easily found in the office supply department or craft stores. Don't forget to place something on your work surface before you start creating. You can decorate entire shoes with glitter, the soles, heels, toes, or apply a pattern of glitter. If you are decorating only part of the shoe, cover the junction with the other surface with paper tape while you work to avoid smudges. Use stick-on stencils to create brilliant designs. You can combine glitter with other designs, for example, stones (see photo with sneakers).

2. Rhinestones, stones, sequins and other decor

Large parts can be glued on with superglue or using a hot gun. Before using hot glue, practice on other objects to control the thickness of the layer. Create unique designs from pebbles on any part of your shoe. Using tweezers, applying pebbles can be much more convenient and the pattern will be more accurate. When applying a drop of glue to the rhinestone, take it into account required amount. If there is too much glue when pressed, it will flow outside the pebble. You can glue any decorative elements, rhinestones, stones, metal fragments, chains, ropes, spikes, buttons, ready-made sequin ribbons, etc. onto shoes.

You can measure a piece of lace over the shoe, cover it thickly with sequins, glue the lace to the shoe, stitch it with thread again for additional fixation, then fill in the gaps by gluing large rhinestones. The final touch is to trim off any excess lace if there is any.

3. Brooches, flowers, bows, fringe, tassels

A very simple way. Simply glue or pin brooches, bows or flowers. Be sure to glue the fringe and very carefully so that excess glue is not visible. You can simply hang the tassels on the strap of your favorite sandals.

4. Fur and feathers

It can look amazing. Choose fur that matches your shoes or contrasts it, and add fluffy pom-poms or luxurious feathers. You don’t have to limit yourself in quantity. The main thing is that everything should look beautiful. Get inspired by expensive designer pairs of shoes. Choose original solutions for where to glue the pompom or in which direction to direct the feathers.

5. Stickers on the sole

Now there are a lot of similar stickers, but the most popular are Shoelicks, because... promise greater resistance to weather conditions and are suitable for any sole shape. Without removing the protective layer, you need to apply the sticker to the sole, fold the edges into shape, cut out the sticker, then remove the protective layer and gradually glue it so that no air gets in. You can find very beautiful drawing stickers and personalize your shoes.

6. Painting and painting

Some people use special waterproof paint or a marker to paint any surface on their shoes, others paint the soles and heels with nail polish, others use spray paint to create ombre effects. Don't forget to cover those parts that should remain unpainted. The beauty of these methods is that you create a whole work of art. For those who are unsure of their artistic abilities, stencils are perfect.

7. Laces

If you are satisfied with the condition of your shoes, but appearance I think I'm already tired of it, try experimenting with laces. Insert colored laces or ribbons. You can use several colors at once. Try a new way of lacing.

8. Fabric

Choose an applique or cut out a piece of lace with large openwork and glue it to any part of the shoe. Handicraft lovers can place a pre-cut piece of lace on glue and create absolutely the new kind your shoes. Another very elegant solution is to sew draped decor for your favorite couple. You can use an unnecessary rag or scarf to tie a bridge on your fingers or a strap. Check that it is comfortable to wear, because... the fabric will create additional thickness. It is better to lay the material smoothly. If necessary, you can fix the ends inside with tape or even put it on glue if you decide to always wear it this way.

Tell us if you have changed the appearance of your shoes or maybe you are going to try it.

To work you need:

90 g (one skein and not a whole one) of YarnArt Pearl thread (color purple, 115).
- Hook No. 3.5.
- Shoe awl (it has a hole or hook on the sharp end).
- Glue Moment-crystal or Secunda - in general, any transparent one.
- Shoes made of artificial suede (it does not shine and the threads slip on it less).

First, with an ordinary awl, you need to make holes in the leatherette of the shoe, no further than half a centimeter from the sole. It’s better, of course, to make holes as often as possible. You can space them at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from each other and the problem of gaps is solved. Then you need to stretch a thread into these holes - the same one you used to knit. It’s harder to do this at the toe. Mainly for the toe you need a shoe awl. In other places you can simply stitch with a thick needle. The ends of the threads are brought out, they can be hidden in knitting, but inside they can get in the way.

This is what the holes look like from the inside (from the inside they are right next to each other and are not visible unless you bend them so much)

Tie the resulting stitches with single crochets, and fill the gaps between the stitches with a chain of air loops - the number is determined by the distance. It is better to start knitting in the middle of the inside of the shoe - this is the most inconspicuous place and it is best to hide the transitions to the next row.
Sew more single crochets onto the resulting row. And lower this row down - it closed the transition to the sole.

And again, using the same warp threads and chain stitches, knit a row of double crochets. But not completely - tie the previously knitted piece of ribbon lace in front.

We take this part according to the diagram.

By attaching this part to the toe, it becomes clear to which place you need to tie the double crochets and after the last stitch, attach the part to the row. Work double crochets and single crochets as required by the lace detail, and continue double crochets on the other side of the shoe.

Then we take it not in a circle, but from the right side of the lace to the left. So, changing the double crochets and single crochets, so that in the last row you can knit a picot of three loops back from the lace. It turns out the shoes were knitted with a ladder. The last row was on top of the heel.

In the photo you can make out the ladder and the change of double crochets and single crochets. This is just the inside of the shoe, the most inconspicuous.

If something turned out uneven somewhere, don’t worry. At the end of the work, having secured and cut off all the threads, you can stretch the fabric so that a row of picots protrudes beyond the top of the shoe and coat the top of the shoe with glue and glue the knitted fabric.
