Creative Santa Claus costume with your own hands. We sew a Santa Claus costume with our own hands: pattern and description. What does a New Year's grandfather's outfit consist of?

Dear friends, very soon kindergartens and schools will begin New Year's parties with noisy fun and carnival costumes! And many are already preparing for this magical holiday. For a long time we didn't have school good suits. And this was a real headache: “Where can I ask for a suit again? And what to make a beard from?” Every new year this character presented a sad sight. And finally, I made up my mind! A fairy tale must be a fairy tale in reality! Children should believe in the coming of the real Santa Claus! And this is possible when the Santa Claus costume inspires trust and real delight! The REAL Santa Claus is not wrapped in home bathrobe uncle! You can, of course, not bother and buy a ready-made costume in a store or online! But then, you can be very disappointed in the quality of materials and tailoring! Without seeing the outfit in reality, you can buy a “pig in a poke”! Therefore, my students and I decided to sew it on our own, and at the same time we set ourselves the maximum task: To make not only an outfit for Santa Claus, but also a wig, a staff, a bag for gifts, and a hat with mittens.

I would like to add that making a Santa Claus costume is quite complex and painstaking! Therefore, I recommend that people who have at least a little sewing practice, and have worked with complex materials! For those who decide to undertake this feat, I wish you good luck!

And so, for the bravest and most patient, I am starting to publish for you a master class on making a Santa Claus costume.

The market now offers customers a wide variety of Moroz costumes. They are all very different: cheap and expensive, light and heavy, beautiful and not so beautiful. First, you need to decide what kind of costume you would like to see in the end, because you create it yourself and can make it the way you want. Before starting work, the students and I looked through a great many photographs and pictures of costumes. The model we chose is a mix of everything we found and saw on the Internet, book illustrations and postcards.

Fur coat (fucking) with long sleeves with slits for the arms, a large flat collar and a stand-up collar made of fur. The costume is decorated with an applique in the form of white frosty patterns, the costume is decorated with white fur trims and embroidered with sequins. The whole costume consistsfrom the following items: an okhaben with false shirt sleeves, a hat with a band, mittens, a bag for gifts, a staff.

For a Santa Claus costume (consisting of a fur coat, hat, mittens and a bag for gifts), it is necessary to select the main, lining, cushioning and finishing materials. The fabric for a fur coat should be soft, plastic, and always red or burgundy. As the main fabric for the fur coat, we took furniture velor, which has a directional pile, so the surface of the fur coat has the effect of depth and softness. Short-haired white fur is very suitable for the edge. An applique of white fabric stands out against a bright burgundy background, so winter patterns on a suit can be made of white fleece, which creates the effect of white snow. This material will give the ornament special expressiveness and volume. Snow patterns will be emphasized by sequin embroidery, creating the effect of shimmering snowflakes. In order for the fur coat to be voluminous and sufficiently static, the top parts must be placed on a lining quilted with synthetic padding. This will give the product some rigidity and will maintain the necessary shape of the suit during wear. For the false sleeves of the shirt, you can use white crepe satin, and for the cuffs, patterned curtain fabric.

The smooth and fluffy surface of fabrics made from synthetic fibers causes difficulties in the cutting process, so when laying it is necessary to use a large number of tailor's pins. It is better to cut such fabric on a smooth table covered with a flannelette blanket. In the process of making a suit, you will often have to sew together several layers of fabrics, having different thicknesses and textures, so when working on a sewing machine, it is necessary to ease the pressure of the foot on the fabric and increase the stitch length. When sewing, use thin needles and threads. When ironing, precise adherence to temperature conditions is necessary (it is not recommended to iron materials with pile, and in some cases it is not possible at all!). When working with artificial fur, special processing technologies are used. These materials require special cutting, sewing and fastening.

For our designed product, we chose synthetic fabrics with a predominance of polyester fibers. To process materials you will need a universal household sewing machine, overcasting machine, iron. For machine work, needles No. 70 and 80 and reinforced threads are suitable. For handmade select thin needles.

The materials used for this model and their consumption are given taking into account the manufacture of not only a fur coat, but also a hat, mittens, a gift bag and a wig with a beard:

red velor 5.5 m; padding polyester 3.5 m; adhesive edge 0.4 m; adhesive doublerin 1.5 m; lining fabric 2.5 m; crepe-satin white 1.0 m; burgundy satin crepe 0.5 m; white fleece 0.5 m; short faux fur 1.5 m (for suit) ; faux fur long 0.5 m(for a wig with a beard); bindweed braid 30.0 m; flat button for hidden fastening 6 pcs.; button on the leg for sleeve cuffs 10 pcs.; button with rhinestones 10 pcs.; decorative cord for a bag with gifts 1.2 m; decorative cord for fastening 1.0 m; patterned curtain fabric for the lining of a bag, mittens, cuffs of a mock shirt and hat; sequins; sewing threads, hand and machine needles.

Note: When processing a Santa Claus costume, materials that are quite difficult to process are used, such as padding polyester, velor, and faux fur. Therefore, before cutting or sweeping any parts, they are all pinned together with tailor’s pins (it is advisable to pin the pins at an angle, and not directly, due to the fact that the pile materials move greatly). All manual technological operations: basting, basting, basting, etc., are also performed with oblique stitches to prevent movement of materials with different textured surfaces.

How could I not have come across this wonderful site before! You won't find this anywhere else!

"Father Frost"

The costume consists of a fur coat, trousers, a hat and a belt.

Fur coats are made from bright fabrics: satin, bailly, flannel, corduroy. The collar, cuffs and hem edge are decorated with white fur or cotton wool.
A fur coat is cut with a one-piece collar, and a hat with a wide cotton or fur band.

Preparing the pattern for cutting
The Santa Claus suit is cut out according to the basic drawings of a shirt and trousers.
Bloomers are cut and sewn in the same sequence as bloomers for a Ukrainian costume.
To construct a fur coat, trace the pattern of the front of the shirt along the contour lines on paper so that from the center of the pattern and above the neck there is a supply of paper for constructing a one-piece collar and rim.

Applying shaped lines to a pattern

Back of the fur coat
The starting points are H, R, G2, H2 (Fig. 20, a).

2.

Calculation:
RF = 86 cm down the middle line of the back through point H (product length).

From point G2 a line is drawn down to a horizontal line through point H2 and at the intersection they are designated as point F1.
G2F2 = 2 cm to the right along the horizontal line (increasing the armhole).
Ф1Ф3 = 4-8 cm to the right along a horizontal line.
Points F2, F3 are connected (side section) - detail 1.

Before
The starting points are Ш2, Ш3, Н3, Н2, Г2 (Fig. 20, a).

Calculation:
G2F = 71 cm down the side cut line through point H2 (distance G2F is equal to distance G2F1 on the back).
From point F draw a horizontal line to the right.
From point Ш3, draw a line downward 2 cm longer than the horizontal line through point H3 and the intersection point is designated by the letter F1.
Ф1Ф2 = 8 cm to the right along a horizontal line (for entry).
Ш3Ф3 = 8 cm to the right also horizontally.
Points F3, F2 are connected by a straight line.
Г2Ф4 = 2 cm to the left horizontally.
FF5 = 4 cm to the left horizontally.
Points F4, F5 are connected (side section) - detail II Fig. 20, a).
One-piece collar
Ш2Ш6 = 5 cm to the left along the horizontal line.
Ф6Ф7 = 2 cm up.
Points Ш2, Ф7 are connected by a straight line.
Ф7Ф8 = 12 cm up at right angles to the line Ф7Ш2.
Ф8Ф9 = 3 cm to the left.
Points F9, F7 are connected.
Points F9, F8, F3 are connected by a convex line. Detail II (Fig. 20, a).

Fitting the collar and hem
Ш2Ф10 = 3 cm to the left along the shoulder line.
Ф1Ф11 = 2 cm to the left along the bottom line.
Points F10, F11 are connected by a dotted line. Detail III - trimming the collar and hem.

Sleeve
Starting points - G, G1, H2, H1 (Fig. 20, a).

Calculation:
From point H2 draw a horizontal line of arbitrary length to the right and from point H1 an arbitrary line to the left.
Gf = 2 cm to the left horizontally.
From point F, a perpendicular is drawn down to a horizontal line and the intersection point is designated by the letter F1.
G1F2 = 2 cm to the left horizontally.
From point F2 a perpendicular is drawn down to a horizontal line and at the intersection it is designated as point F3.
Points F1, H1, and H2, F3 are connected (detail IV).

The fur coat pattern is cut out along the drawn lines. The pattern of a one-piece collar and collar is cut out along the front, placing a third sheet of paper under the part, and transferred with a cutter or through transparent paper.
The lining is cut out from top parts I and II up to the hem.
The fur coat pattern is laid out so that the direction of the grain thread coincides with the grain thread of the fabric.
Dotted lines indicate seam allowances (Fig. 20, 6).

3.

Since the layout does not show all the details (patterns), it is necessary to give seam allowances when cutting on the fabric:
along the shoulder and side sections
backs - 2 cm;
along the sprout - 0.75 cm;
along the cut of the sleeve edge - 1 cm;
at the bottom of the sleeve - 1 cm;
along the front and elbow sections of the sleeve - 1-2 cm.

SEWING SEQUENCE

1. Mark the middle on the back of the fur coat.
2. Lay snares along the shoulder and side sections.
3. Baste and grind the shoulder sections, while sewing in the lower collar.
4. Baste and sew in the sleeves.
5. Sew down the sleeve sections simultaneously with the side sections.
6. Process the bottom of the sleeve.
7. Baste and stitch the collar and collar to the fur coat.
8. Baste the bottom.
9. Baste and sew the lining to the top of the fur coat.
10. Attach cotton wool or fur to the fur coat.

Autumn has fully come into its own. Before you have time to look around, as the classic wrote, winter is already knocking on the window. And with her, naturally, the most joyful holiday adults and children - New Year. Therefore, it is worth taking care of a smart Santa Claus costume in advance. In this article we will tell you in detail how to sew an original Santa Claus costume with your own hands, using a pattern and step-by-step photos.

It is worth considering that sewing a fur coat for Santa Claus using drawing- this is quite not an easy task. To create it, you can use velvet, satin, short fur, brocade. In other words, the choice of fabric bases for making a fur coat is quite large. You can make a fur coat with or without insulation. Here a lot will depend on where Santa Claus will be: indoors or outdoors. A spectacular collar can be created from fur that has a medium-length pile.

Once you have decided on all the above aspects, you can proceed directly to cutting the product itself.

Cut the top of the fur coat should be taken into account the general rules for cutting the top men's clothing. The average thickness of the material will not cause you any particular difficulties in your work. Pay attention also to the pattern of the detail of the central part of the shelf. The selection element, which is located at the bottom, has a one-piece cut. Thanks to this, you will be able to save fabric material and your time. The seam of the neckline, armhole, and sleeve roll should be taken beyond the outlined line, in the lower part - by four centimeters, the back seam in the middle - one - four centimeters, the others - one centimeter.

Lining for a fur coat can be cut out either using a completed product or using patterns. Only an element of a one-piece cut selection can be duplicated. The lining may contain 2 shelf elements (photo No. 2). In this case, the overlap of the “shelf lining” element on the edging side will be two centimeters. In photo No. 2, the features of this part are marked with a red line. In the remaining elements of the lining, we make the allowances the same as in the upper part, so that they can be cut out comfortably. To do this, we lay out the fragments of the top of the fur coat on the fabric for lining (photo No. 3). Linings for insulation need to be cut using patterns for the upper part. For part of the selection, insulation is not required. It is necessary to cut out the second layer of insulation only if it is provided with fragments of the lining.

The fur of a fur coat can be cut out either using a completed product or using patterns. It is important to observe the direction of the fur fibers. On the collar, the fibers should be directed towards the side of its departure. But along the sleeves it should be directed towards the bottom. For the edge - also to the bottom.

Myself sewing should begin from the stage of assembling the upper part products. At the same time, we need to duplicate and iron the one-piece cut collar. All elements of the upper part should be basted with oblique stitches or pinned to a non-woven base. Next, sew together 2 fragments of the shelf, then use an iron to carefully smooth out the stitching seam and remove excess insulation. The very same fur coat should not be ironed.

Next, you need to cut out the lining according to the fragments of the cut, as can be seen from photos No. 2 - 3. You can also baste all the elements of the lining to the non-woven fabric. If you sew on insulation, it is enough to do it only to the waist. Finally, you need to sharpen the bottom collar. Smooth along the edge of the stitching with an iron.

Now let's create the sleeves. Here you should sew the upper part and the lining along the seam at the bottom. After that, we move on to cutting the fur parts. First we make the collar, then the cuffs, and at the end - the edge at the bottom. Next you need to sew the upper parts of the fur collar. The pattern of the collar located at the top is proposed taking into account the fit allowances. Therefore, it must be carefully straightened.

After which you can proceed to attaching the edge to the bottom of the fur coat. It should not be sewn along the very edge of the bottom and sleeves, but slightly away from the edges.

If necessary, make a deepening of the armhole and be sure to make notes for attaching the sleeve.

And now we move on to connecting the upper part and the lining along the side and neck, and then along the bottom line.

At the very end, you should process the armhole with the so-called “rollover” and shoulder padding.

That's all! The fur coat for Santa Claus is ready! Other details of his image - the result of your imagination.

You might, of course, think: why bother...it’s so much work that needs to be put into sewing all the parts of the suit - a robe, a hat and mittens...

As the basis for the suit, I took a jacket pattern, which I used to sew a men's windbreaker and a men's winter jacket.

  • front shelf
  • back
  • sleeve

I lengthened these parts so that the suit was 130 cm long from the point of the base of the neck ().

You can also use a pattern as a basis women's coat, but it will fit more tightly on a man, only it needs to be lengthened by 30 cm.

We sew the sleeves with a “tube”:

And we cut it lengthwise into three equal strips, sew two of them along side seam (as in the photo on the right):

All that remains is to sew the belt and belt loops.

So that sew a Santa Claus costume for a boy, you need to take as a basis the pattern of a jacket () or a loose sweatshirt, lengthen it to the desired size (measure the required length from the base of the child’s neck to the ankle, for example). And the procedure for sewing operations is exactly the same as when sewing a Santa Claus costume for an adult.

Sew mittens It’s easier, even without a pattern, to just trace a child’s hand with a little freedom, and the sewing technology is the same as for adult mittens.

But how happy the children will be when Santa Claus comes straight to their home and puts on a real show!

As the basis for the suit, I took a jacket pattern, according to which I sewed a men's windbreaker and a men's winter jacket.

From this pattern I only need three parts:

front shelf
back
sleeve

I lengthened these parts so that the suit was 130 cm long from the point of the base of the neck (read more about where the point of the base of the neck is located here).

And the detail of the front shelf needs to be slightly rounded from the point of the base of the neck to the waist line (everything is approximately) so that the detail of the shelf does not have sharp corners near the neck, but is flexible and rounded, like on robes (I hope I explained it clearly))))) .

You can also take the pattern of a woman’s coat as a basis, but it will fit more tightly on a man (you can download the pattern here), only it needs to be lengthened by 30 cm.

For the entire costume (with hat and mittens) I needed:

3 meters of red lining fabric (you can use satin, satin, etc.)
0.5 m faux fur for finishing

Cut out sleeves from red fabric:

We cut out the front and back pieces, lengthening the pattern to 130 cm.

Sew along the shoulder and side seams:

We sew the sleeves with a “tube”:

We sew this long strip of fur along the edge of the robe so that the seam on the strip of fur coincides with the middle of the back neckline:

Here is the wrong side of the sewn fur:

Fold the fur in half and sew it to the wrong side of the robe, tucking in the seam allowances on the other side of the fur. At the same time, we make sure that the stitch runs from the front side along the inner edge of the fur (next to the seam of the fur and red fabric) and at the same time sews the allowances on the wrong side.

We cut the third strip of fur lengthwise into two parts, one of these strips will be sewn along the bottom of the robe.

We sew the fur along the bottom, joining the front side of the fur and the wrong side of the bottom of the robe:

Now we put the fur on the front side along the bottom of the robe:

We sew a stitch along the front side of the fur at a distance of 5 mm from the edge, fixing both layers of fabric.

Then we sew the fur along the top edge, tucking in the allowances.

We sew the fur along the bottom of the sleeves in the same way (we cut out the fur from the remaining strip with a length = the width of the sleeve near the wrist + 2 cm for allowances).

We fix the fur on the sleeves along the lower edge:

Then, tucking in the allowances, we fix the fur along the upper edge:

All that remains is to sew the belt and belt loops.
Belt for Santa Claus costume.
We cut out a strip of fabric 170 cm long and 12 cm wide (this is already taking into account allowances). Fold the strip in half lengthwise, turn the seam allowances inward on both sides and sew with one seam along the entire waistband, and also turn the seam allowances inward at the edges. Iron the belt.

Now all that remains is to make the belt loops and sew them to the robe.
