But there are things out of time, and, once created, do not cease to be fashionable for many decades. So the classic style in the interior, which originated in the 18th century, remains in demand today.

Style history

The classical style appeared in Europe in the middle of the 18th century. In those days, it was already rather fed up and replaced it, changes were required. Under the indelible impression of ancient culture and, the architect by name Robert Adam, designed interiors that are not inferior in sophistication to Rococo.
The new style was based on the ideas of rationalism: clarity of three-dimensional forms, conciseness, monumentality, regular planning and the absence of unnecessary elements.

The classical interior style reached its heyday during the reign of Louis XIV in France. A worthy example of this is the magnificent one with its representativeness, splendor of interiors and bright decor, combined with a clear geometric layout and well-balanced composition.

Classics in the interior

The classic style in the interior is considered a sign of good taste and respectability.
These interiors are characterized by harmony. The premises are decorated with a truly royal scale, but in compliance with all the norms and rules inherent in classicism.

Materials and finishes

In a classic interior, special attention is paid to finishing materials. Nothing cheap and artificial, everything is only exclusive and natural!
If this is a floor covering, then artistic parquet made of fine wood. If the tile is marble or made by Italian craftsmen in compliance with traditional technologies.

The ceiling is painted, molding, friezes are used, thereby creating a real work of art. Very often in the front rooms you can see semi-columns, columns reminiscent of the architecture of the Renaissance and palace interiors.

The walls are covered with decorative plaster, fabric or wallpaper that has a natural base. There is nothing flashy or bright in classic interiors. The colors are calm, harmonious, most often beige, milky, brown and olive shades in combination with gilding. For style, a sense of harmony and chic is important.

Style furniture

Last but not least is the right furniture. Only natural wood, no fiberboard and MDF. Graceful and massive pieces of furniture are made at the best factories, using valuable and rare woods. An excellent choice would be antique furniture.
Classic smooth forms without unnecessary curls - a tribute to style. Often furniture is inlaid with semi-precious stones, decorated with carvings. For upholstery, natural silk, velvet, cotton of noble colors are used.

Lighting

To make the whole interior “play”, light accents are correctly placed. In a classic interior, one cannot do without massive crystal or forged chandeliers, original sconces made by master artists. And to create additional comfort, lower light is added.
Table lamps and floor lamps are arranged so that you can comfortably sit in an armchair with a book or at a tea table.

Accessories and decor

Many homes prefer to install a fireplace. What could be more comfortable than burning lights on a cold evening and a warm conversation with a glass of good wine or a cup of tea?
But any interior will not be complete without cute "knick-knacks". For the "classics" you should choose accessories based on their artistic or historical value.

Porcelain products, bronze and silver candlesticks, sculptures, mirrors in gilded and antique frames - everything harmoniously combines and complements the classic interior.
The walls are lined with paintings and antiques.
A silk or wool carpet on the floor will add warmth to the entire room.

The classic style in the interior, for all its respectability, high cost and strict adherence to traditions, is comfortable and not out of touch with life like a glossy picture. It does not become obsolete and, like vintage wine, it only becomes more expensive over the years!
