If the Christmas tree is intended as a floor or tabletop composition, then the bottom can be omitted. But there are also crafts in which the bottom of the cone must be closed. Read below to learn how to make cardboard cones for the base of these Christmas trees.

Cones without bottom

The best material for making the base for Christmas trees is cardboard.

Since decor sometimes weighs quite a lot, it is better not to use paper for the base. It is only suitable for making children's crafts or Christmas trees decorated with paper decor.

To make a conical base you will need:

  • Cardboard;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue or tape;
  • A compass or round object that can be traced along the contour (plate, bowl);
  • Pencil;
  • Ruler.

The thickness of the cardboard should be selected depending on the weight of the selected decor. If the decor is quite heavy and the cardboard is thin, the base may not be able to support it and the tree will turn out to be unstable and will fall on its side.

You can make a paper cone using several methods. To implement the first one, you need to fold the cardboard into a little bag, as in the figure:

Next, the excess cardboard from the bottom side is cut off with scissors. This must be done exactly as in the diagram, otherwise the product will collapse. Glue the side edge of the cone with tape or glue. This method is convenient because you can independently and without calculations adjust the height and width of the cone.

Making the bottom

Products such as topiaries or Christmas trees with legs, as well as Christmas trees using the sweet design technique, require conical bases with a closed bottom. A short master class will clearly show you how to make a paper cone with a bottom.

To complete the job, you will need the same set of tools as to create the cone itself.

Now let’s take a step-by-step look at making the bottom. Take the finished cone and measure the diameter of its base using a ruler.

As you know, if the diameter is divided in half, you get the radius. Make the necessary calculations and use a compass to draw a circle that matches the size of the base of your cone.

Do a fitting. The edges of the drawn circle and the edges of the cone must match in size.

To secure the bottom to the base of the cone, you need to add 1-2 cm. Draw a second circle and cut it out.

Cut the distance from the edge of the outer circle to the edge of the inner circle with scissors (step is 5 mm).

Sheets of paper allow you to create a wide variety of objects. These can be complex crafts, like a high-quality notebook or a model of a ship, or they can be very simple. For example, some people are interested in how to make a paper cone with their own hands. Such a simple figure can be used for various purposes, including to create a Christmas tree decoration.

First, you need to understand the basics of creating cones. Then, with the help of various additional elements, from them it will be possible to build original elements decor, even in the form of animal faces. The most common craft made from a paper cone is a small Christmas tree.

How to make a paper cone with your own hands?

The materials used are completely determined by why the cone is being made. The most simple options You don’t even need to glue it from a regular sheet of paper - just fasten it with some kind of clamp. If you have to build a beautiful Christmas tree toy or a decorative element, it is better to find a suitable one colored paper or cardboard.

To create an even cone you will need a round sheet. It can be done different ways, for example, cut it out from a regular A4 format, marking the required area with a compass. If you don’t have a compass at hand, you should use a pencil and string. The thread should be equal to the radius of the future circle. It is held taut with a finger in the center of the sheet, and a circle is drawn with a pencil.

How to make a paper cone with your own hands:

  • On the finished circle you need to draw two lines to make a cross dividing the sheet into four even parts.
  • Then one of the quarters is cut off.
  • All that remains is to fold the desired shape and secure it with glue or clothespins.

After this, the cone is ready, but, if desired, you can make a bottom for it. To do this, place the resulting figure on a sheet of paper. A circle is drawn around it, but before cutting it out, about another centimeter is added to the shape. From this distance you need to create teeth with which the bottom will be attached to the cone. They are coated with glue and attached.

When working with thin paper, you can make a cone from a regular rectangular sheet. To do this, it is twisted, as shown in the photo below, and then the excess edge is cut off. Sometimes it can be used to create the base of a cone, or it may be enough to simply bend it inward.

Creating a Christmas tree

From a ready-made paper cone you can create an excellent Christmas decoration in the form of a Christmas tree. A wide variety of materials are used, but the overall manufacturing system remains common.

  • Tape or cling film is glued to the paper cone.
  • Thick woolen threads are attached on top of them, using PVA or other suitable glue.
  • After they dry well, you need to remove the cone from them. The threads must retain its shape.
  • All that remains is to add elements for decoration. These can be small knitted balls, stars made of shiny paper, or any other materials that are at hand.

To create a Christmas tree, you can use a completely different technique. On help will come papier-mâché, with which you can also make a paper cone. Of course, much more material and time will be required, but the finished structure will be durable and stately.

  • For work you will need newspaper or magazine trimmings. Almost any paper will do. A base is also needed. You can take any plastic cone, for example, from children's toys. It will not be damaged during the manufacturing process.
  • The selected base is coated with PVA and a layer of paper is placed on it. When it dries, you can apply the next one. In this way, the process continues until sufficient thickness is gained.
  • Now you need to remove the base. Sometimes you have to cut the shape to do this.
  • Then, instead of the base, you can mark a rod inside, which will act as a frame.

All that remains is to glue the cut halves back together, and you can start decorating the future Christmas tree. For example, you can actually paint it or wrap it with threads, as in the photo below. This scheme will allow you to create any variants of Christmas trees, depending on your desire and the existing base.

What else can you make from a paper cone?

A paper cone blank can be used to make packaging for a sweet gift. To do this, on the edges, with inside, add pieces of double-sided tape, or simply coat it with glue.

  • Sheets of corrugated paper are then placed over these areas.

  • To make it fit beautifully, you need to make small folds.
  • After this, the workpiece with paper is glued into a cone.
  • Sweets or other items are placed inside the craft, and the corrugated sheet is tied with a ribbon on top, forming a bag.
  • You can add other decorative elements to the finished packaging.

The paper cone can be used for other crafts as well. For example, if you make it from thick cardboard, then, using fabric, you can create such animal toys or Christmas tree decorations.

DIY shabby chic style Christmas tree

Let's make this amazingly beautiful and original craft V fashionable style shabby chic.

Necessary materials.

For the base, take a large paper glass or any plastic dishes. Separately, dilute alabaster or gypsum with water to the thickness of liquid sour cream and pour it into the future pot. We secure the trunk of our tree, plant the branch in the center and fix it in this position until it hardens.

We make a cone out of cardboard using a stapler.

We make the top of the spruce from wire and foam rubber.

We connect the top to the trunk and attach the cone.

We wrap the base of the tree with white fur.

We cut off the excess from below.

Then we bend the ends of the burlap inward and attach it with hot glue.

Let's get to the fun part - decorating our Christmas tree in shabby chic style.

To create the finished composition we will need a stand.

We make a bench from a bamboo napkin.

From white fur - a snowman.

We attach a bell to the top of the spruce.

Decorate Christmas tree beads, pearls, flowers, lace, etc..

Apply transparent glue to the very top of the tree.

And sprinkle with artificial snow.

We do the same with the bench.

Our composition “Winter's Tale” is ready!

Decorative Christmas tree made from napkins

We will make it from cardboard and single-layer napkins. You will also need beads for decoration.

First of all, let's build a frame for our Christmas tree. We roll a cone out of cardboard, fasten it (I stitched it with thread) and cut off the bottom of the cone exactly so that it can stand.

The base is ready, put it aside for now. Now let's move on to napkins. We will make roses from them. Single-layer plain paper napkins are suitable for us.

Take a napkin and cut it along the folds. Then we fold it in three and cut along the folds again.

We fold the resulting strips in three and cut them again. We got a square equal to 1/9 of a napkin.

We fasten this square in the center with a stapler.

Then cut a circle out of it. Mega-precision and accuracy are not required here at all; the finished rose can be slightly adjusted with scissors.

This way a rose is formed. If the finished rose seems uneven to you, you can trim it with scissors.

The number of such flowers depends on the size of your cardboard cone. My Christmas tree was 21cm high and I needed 59 roses for it.

When all the flowers are ready, we return to the cone. Starting from the top of the head, glue the flowers onto the cone so that the base is not visible. I glued it with hot glue (it’s more convenient for me), but ordinary PVA will do.

I made a Christmas tree out of napkins of two colors. If you also decide to create your own craft from multi-colored roses, then you can safely experiment with alternating them on a cone. If the result does not suit you, you can always tear off the flower and re-glue it to another place. In this case, only the lower layer of the flower will be damaged. We simply tear it off (the bottom layer). The rosette will not lose its appearance.

So, we glued the flowers to the cone. The Christmas tree itself is ready and you can stop at this stage.

I also decorated it with beads - I glued it with the same hot glue, PVA won’t help here.

DIY decorative Christmas tree made from napkins

As you can see, even a beginner can make such beauty, so you can safely involve children in the process.

Christmas tree made of plasticine with candies

What do we all associate with a wonderful holiday? New Year? With the smell of pine needles, bright lights, garlands, sweets. And children still create unusual crafts with your own hands, thereby bringing closer the pleasant moment of the onset of a fabulous night. They love creativity lessons on this topic most of all. It is in crafts that you can realize any fantasies.

We suggest making an elegant Christmas tree that can be easily decorated with candies. Make a craft from plasticine - the cheapest and most popular material. You will definitely make a beautiful souvenir if you follow our tips - they are not complicated.

To sculpt a Christmas tree with your own hands, prepare:

  • green plasticine for the crown;
  • stump in the form of a cap or an empty spool of thread;
  • toothpick, red and white plasticine for candy.

Select a green block of plasticine from the set. The body of the Christmas tree itself will be made from it, and in the future we will make small candies as toys. Of course, a small souvenir does not have to be green; another color that you choose will do. If you manage to find a set on sale that contains a gold bar, then this option will look rich.

Knead the entire prepared block thoroughly in your hands and prepare for further work. It is necessary to form a cone-shaped crown, and not quite the usual flat one, but a curved one, similar to the cap of a fairy-tale gnome. Since we are talking about magical holiday, then it is not forbidden to fantasize and create something incredible.

Pull all the soft plasticine into a long cone. Make the upper part as sharp as possible, press the lower part around the circumference with your fingers, showing the skirt. Then take and bend the entire structure to the side. Sometimes the Christmas trees do not stretch up perfectly straight, but lean to the side like this.

For modeling Christmas tree decorations– small candies – use white and red plasticine. Form red round tablets (the inner part of the candy), as well as white triangles (the twisted part of the candy wrappers).

Glue delicious candies together. Glue a white dot onto each red round piece and press it in the center with a toothpick. Glue the triangular pieces on the sides.

Make enough decorative details to fill the entire surface of the Christmas tree, evenly distributing the candies around the circumference at some distance.

Glue all the resulting blanks to the crown. Beautiful New Year's craft it's almost ready. Press down a small lid - a stump - from below (or mold it from plasticine).

And the top is still missing. She just begs to be added to the resulting fairytale Christmas tree. Come up with some option, for example the same spruce branches in combination with red berries. All this looks festive and bright.

This is such a fantastic Christmas tree. This is an elegant version of a craft for the New Year, which will be an excellent gift for your favorite holiday.

The New Year is just around the corner - you need to hurry up to get everything done.

DIY felt Christmas tree

Let's do Christmas trees made of felt - this is an excellent New Year's decoration and perfect for school or kindergarten.

Prepare for them:

  • Set of colored felt;
  • cotton wool;
  • glue "Moment" transparent;
  • any beads;
  • threads for knitting and sewing;
  • a needle;
  • scissors;
  • felt-tip pen.

Select matching colors felt. It can be different shades green. Or you can show your imagination and make an unusual red or blue spruce. Fold a couple of sheets of felt together and draw the shape of a fir tree on the top one.

Cut a piece of felt with a pattern along its entire length and fold it in half as shown in the photo. We do this only if the felt is not very thick, otherwise it will be difficult to cut 4 layers at once.

Cut 4 blanks into shape.

To give them a bulge, put a little cotton wool, as shown in the photo.

Lubricate the edges of the workpiece with glue.

Cut a piece of knitting thread and attach it to the top of the workpiece, directly on the glue. It can be hung from it. Attach the second piece and press along the edge so that both parts stick together.

On a light Christmas tree, make stitches with threads of a darker green color. This will add originality to the craft.

Decorate the second with a border of pearl beads. To do this, make a layer of glue along the edge and place beads on it.

Now let your little one decorate them however he or she wishes. After drying, the craft is ready for use.

Such simple craft will be a great decoration for your Christmas tree. It can be given to grandparents. Older children will be able to do it completely on their own. Using this principle, you can make any felt decorations. Whatever your imagination suggests.

We have already shown the principle of making homemade items from threads smeared with PVA, so we take a cone of a suitable size (if necessary, make it out of paper and fasten it with a stapler), green threads, PVA, wind them diligently and smear them. Next, make snowflakes from paper, beads, wait until it dries, take out the cone and that’s it.

5. By the way, you can use multi-colored threads. After the PVZ has dried, you need to cut off the bottom of the cone, wrap it around the edge with tape and staple it with a stapler to hide the unevenness and strengthen the structure.

In both the first and second options, you can build inside cone tree light for beauty.

6. Christmas tree made of mesh in the shape of a cone.

Instead of threads, to make things go faster, craftsmen came up with the idea of using green mesh cut into ribbons or a ready-made mesh ribbon. Dip it in glue and wrap it around. You can take multi-colored ribbons, coat the joints with additional glue and secure them with pins until dry. After drying, decorate and decorate to taste.
