  • blue aniline;
  • paris blue;
  • indigo carmine;
  • ultramarine;
  • Prussian blue.

You need to apply it like this:

  • dilute the blue in cold water and mix it with warm liquid: it is important to do everything in accordance with the instructions, some of the substances work during washing, some during rinsing. As a rule, there is 0.3-0.5 grams per kilogram of denim. substances;
  • straighten clean jeans and lower them into the solution;
  • water should evenly soak the product so that the staining takes place equally on all parts of the thing;
  • after 2 hours or 12 hours (if you need a very rich shade of blue), the jeans can be taken out;
  • rinse the pants in 2-3 waters, adding vinegar (5-7 tablespoons per 10 liters) or table salt to the last one.

Blue tends to wash out quickly from denim, so the staining will have to be repeated soon.

White

When deciding how to dye jeans at home, not many people think about using whiteness. It allows you to achieve the effect of a burnt out blue tint, the so-called "boiled water". A couple of decades ago, this style was very popular.

You can still get jeans of this shade today:

  • twist jeans into a roller and secure with an elastic band;
  • lower the product into a bucket so that it is completely covered with a solution;
  • boil for 15 minutes;
  • do not allow the pants to rise above the surface of the solution;
  • be sure to ventilate the kitchen at the time of boiling, the evaporating smell will be quite pungent.

Potassium permanganate

  • stir the greenery thoroughly;
  • dip jeans into the resulting mixture;
  • keep the product for half an hour;
  • turn the pants from one side to the other in order to achieve uniform coloring;

  • apply a drawing with your own hands or through a stencil;
  • put a sheet of paper over the face of the product and gently iron the jeans.

The process is very simple, however, such staining is not durable, after numerous washes, the pattern may lose its contours and completely wash off. This moment cannot be called a disadvantage, because the owner of the pants gets another opportunity to transform his thing and surprise others with an unusual design.

Spray can

The use of aerosol paints is no different from the use of acrylics. It is necessary to spray such a composition onto a clean, even fabric by randomly applying or strictly following the stencil.

Aniline paints

Aniline-based powders have been known for more than a dozen years; today they are more stable and withstand well the effects of the environment and numerous washings. These substances should be applied in the same way as other types of paints.

  • the most convenient are liquid formulations that do not require dilution;
  • it is convenient to apply this dye with soft brushes, with squirrel or ferret bristles;
  • aniline tends to spread over the surface, which allows you to create interesting transitions from one color to another;
  • if you do not want the effect of dripping paint, you can mix 1 part of aniline and 3 parts of tragacanth glue;
  • a good drawing is obtained if gelatin dissolved in water is added to the active substance. After soaking in this compound, jeans can be dried and worn.

  • keep the product in a container for 4-5 hours, periodically straightening and turning it over;
  • rinse your pants in a solution of vinegar or salt;
  • dry on the balcony.

  • after washing, place the item in a bowl with slightly salted water for 30 minutes;
  • start another wash mode to remove the dye;
  • after staining, inspect the drum of the machine, if there are traces of paint on the door gum, wash it with laundry soap.

In enameled dishes

The manual staining process involves the use of an enamel bowl.

  • Use for washing laundry soap.
  • The choice of a delicate washing mode in an automatic machine or gentle washing by hand.
  • Prohibition of the use of fabric softener.
  • Washing separately from other things.

Dyeing jeans is not the most difficult process that anyone can handle at home. The main thing is to carefully select the dye, follow the instructions and properly care for the pants after painting.

Coloring products

The main questions that the hostess is puzzled with before painting jeans at home:

  • what dye to choose;
  • how to paint.

Let's start in order.

Professional paint for painting jeans

Factory dyes

Manufacturers of such products offer a wide range of colors; it will not be difficult to choose the appropriate option. With a greater degree of probability, we can say that in the end you will get exactly the result you expected. Dyes for jeans are produced in the form of liquid solutions, powders, tablets. The package contains detailed step-by-step instructions.

Aniline dyes are also intended for fabrics, but they have a slightly wider range of uses. When stained, they give bright colors with soft contours.

Staining result

Blue

The most popular dye from the last century. What the housewives did not paint with her help: lime for whitewashing, linen, even hair. And today, blueprint is quite relevant.

How to dye jeans blue? Pour the dye into a basin with warm water (temperature not higher than 30 degrees), adjust the saturation "by eye". If you bought blue in the form of a powder or tablet, first dilute it to the desired consistency in a little water and pour it into a basin. Put your jeans there. The longer they lie in the blue water, the richer the shade will turn out.

Blue staining is fast and high quality - this is a plus. Minus - the result will not last long, and after a few washings, the staining will have to be repeated.

Important: For a more lasting result, add 2-3 tablespoons of salt to the blue water.

Dyeing denim with blue

White

Of course, with the help of whiteness, the color of jeans will not become brighter and richer, but you can definitely get a unique pattern on your product. This tool is especially suitable for those who do not want to be like everyone else and like to stand out, emphasizing their individuality.

Whiteness is also suitable if you decide to artificially age your jeans.

Painting jeans with white

Potassium permanganate

Not the most popular dye, but if you're looking to dye your faded jeans pink, this is the way to go. You need to work with potassium permanganate extremely carefully, otherwise, except for pants, everything around can become pink.

Prepare the solution: add 30 ml of peroxide, 120 ml of diluted vinegar and 3 liters of water to 80 g of dry potassium permanganate. Immerse jeans in the resulting composition and stand for 20 minutes. Rinse in cold water, wash.

The main advantage is the good durability of the result and the unusualness of the resulting color. But potassium permanganate is a rather complex dye. It is problematic to achieve uniform staining with it. It will be difficult to correct such an oversight.

By analogy with potassium permanganate, brilliant green works. It is easy to guess that as a result we will get a green tint.

The effect of staining denim pants with potassium permanganate

Hair dye

Few people know that hair dye can be used not only for its intended purpose, but also as an excellent dye for fabrics. The method of application is simple: we dilute two packs of dye in water and put faded pants there. The soaking time depends on the desired result. But on average, it is an hour and a half. After staining, rinse jeans in vinegar and water. Wash the product with powder.

Although the final color is always indicated on the box, the result can be unpredictable. Easier if you decide to dye jeans black, it is difficult to miss with it.

Hair dye is not very durable, so be prepared for it to come off safely in a few months.

Important: If you are not eager to ruin your jeans with a bad shade, experiment with an unwanted piece of denim first.

Acrylic paints

This tool is not suitable for repainting the entire product, but it will definitely work out to make the pants bright and unique. This method is especially good for masking spots, excessive abrasions on the knees. All you need: acrylic paints, brushes and an iron.

On the seamy side, draw whatever your heart desires. Depends on the skill of the artist and the flight of imagination. When the creative part is completed and the colors are dry, the product should be turned out and ironed with an iron, placing a sheet of paper on the back. The designer jeans are ready.

The undoubted advantage of such a dye is the richness of the color range. The disadvantages include the fragility and the need to periodically update the picture.

Jeans decor options with acrylic paints

Tissue spray

It is also a fairly popular dye, it is even easier to use than acrylic paints - not everyone can paint with brushes, and a child can also spray a can. With the help of an aerosol, you can paint the entire product or apply drawings through a stencil. The second option is suitable for masking individual flaws. The stencil must be applied to the fabric and sprayed with paint. Once it's dry, the jeans can be put on.

A definite plus is ease of use. The color of the product will turn out exactly what you need.

Alternative dyes

If you absolutely do not want to use chemical options for paints, experiment with natural colors. Light-colored jeans can be easily dyed using herbal infusions and berry juices. But there are many pitfalls here. Berry dyes are dangerous because they can give a violent chemical reaction when in contact with powders and soaps. As a result, instead of a unique color, you risk getting an unpleasant washed out shade.

But if you nevertheless decided on such an experiment, get ready for a long process:

  1. Squeeze out the juice, it will take five liters, no less.
  2. Place the item in the dye solution. The longer it stays like this, the more intense the color will be. Remember to stir the water constantly.
  3. To consolidate the result, rinse the jeans in a mild vinegar solution.

Important: In berry juice, you can dye ordinary blue jeans, as a result, you will get a rich purple color.

Henna gives a long-lasting bright color when painting. Jeans after painting will be a deep orange-red color. If you add 2 tablespoons of ground coffee to henna, then the color will turn out to be deeper, close to brown.

You can experiment with color using markers or felt-tip pens. No, you don't have to sit over your pants for several hours and do not have to sketch them. It is necessary to remove the dye rods from the inside and "dissolve" them in water, you get a dye solution.

It is worth remembering that alternative dyes do not retain a long-term effect - jeans need to be tinted periodically

How to dye jeans in a washing machine

After you have decided on the choice of dye, it is time to choose a dyeing method. In a washing machine, this can be done quickly and effortlessly. So, how to quickly and without hassle dye black jeans in universal black at home.

The first step is to prepare the dye solution. It should be uniform, without lumps or lumps. For safety reasons, pass the paint through a strainer or gauze. Dilute the paint with a liter of hot water and pour the typewriter into the drum. Some manufacturers recommend adding baking soda or salt to the dye. This increases the durability of the paint, so this advice should not be neglected.

To dye your jeans black, turn the pants inside out and place them in the machine. Set to the highest temperature setting. The longer the wash takes, the better the staining will be.

If you don't want to ruin the staining result, do not pour. It will instantly nullify all your efforts, ruining the color in the bud. But vinegar even makes sense to add. Prepare a couple of spoons of vinegar 9% in advance. This volume is calculated per liter of water.

After the machine has come to a complete stop, take out the freshly dyed jeans and dip them in the vinegar solution. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then put it back in the machine and wash at normal 40 degrees.

Important: After staining, the machine must be cleaned of paint residues. To do this, take an unwanted piece of fabric and wash it at the maximum temperature.

The result of staining jeans in a washing machine

Hand painting

You can dye jeans blue or any other shade in the basin. For this, it is better to take an enameled vessel. The procedure is as follows:

  1. We put the basin on the stove and pour water into it, let it warm up.
  2. According to the instructions on the package, we prepare the coloring solution, do not forget to strain it from lumps and clots. In the manual version of staining, this is especially important.
  3. Pour salt or soda as needed, if there is an indication on the package.
  4. Attention, first we put jeans in the basin, and then pour in the coloring solution. The product must be completely hidden under water, otherwise there will be unpainted islands. The water shouldn't boil, but the temperature is close to boiling.
  5. The pants will be dyed for forty minutes.
  6. As soon as the time is up, carefully remove the basin from the stove and take them out of the water. It is better to do this somewhere in the bathroom, so as not to splash paint on the furniture. We put the dyed product in warm water, rinse it, repeat the same thing in cold water.
  7. Prepare a solution with vinegar and fix the resulting color.
  8. You can now wash your jeans any way you want.

This method has both positive and negative points. From the pros - during staining, you can create a pattern on jeans, making stains and imitating unpainted spots. On the downside - it is difficult to get a uniform color, jeans now and then strive to emerge from the paint. We'll have to literally watch them near the pelvis for all forty minutes.

Denim is a lightweight, comfortable, durable material. Dense fabric, resistant to wear and tear, from which any garment is sewn. There is hardly a more popular material on the planet. It can be cut, embroidered, pressed, decorated with beads, buttons, sequins.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the question of how to dye jeans worries people over and over again.

How to dye jeans? Preparation phase

Novelty. If a person buys a wardrobe item or fabric in a store, then everything is simple. You can safely paint such a thing, taking into account other features. And if a person reuses denim, which was once clothing, then you will have to consider it in more detail. If there are scuffs and damages, then during bleaching the places with such defects become thinner. Pieces with such imperfections should be avoided when painting, as they tear in the process.
Thickness. The thicker the fabric, the longer it will take to bleach and then dye it. If it is not visible to the eye, then the fabric can be weighed. The ratio of the area of the panel to the weight will tell about the thickness quite definitely.

Density. Few people evaluate this indicator when painting jeans. After all, it is known that the fibers are tightly intertwined. But now different fabrics are produced - from light, summer to very warm, winter. In this case, light, summer models will color much faster than warm, winter ones.
A source of additional difficulties. Nowadays, ordinary jeans are not in high esteem, so it should be borne in mind: the more complex the item is sewn, the more difficult it will be to dye it. Particular attention should be paid to the seams, as well as other decorative details (flounces and ruffles, folds and darts).

The answer to the question of how to dye jeans involves a preparatory stage, when a person evaluates the quality of the material. Can these jeans be dyed at all, or is it better to throw them away.

How to dye jeans blue?

If a person is pleased with the traditional color of most jeans, but it requires updating, you can use the folk recipe - soaking jeans in a blue solution. To dye jeans blue, you need to take:

Barely warm water (the temperature is checked by touch).
Dilute a chemical purchased from a hardware store in it. The density of the color is determined by eye.
Completely immerse the fabric or item in the solution, leave it for at least a few hours, or better for a day. For greater durability of staining, add a handful to the solution, and then rinse in a weak solution of vinegar. Method of preparation of the latter: pour half a mug of vinegar into each liter of cold water.

Disadvantage of the recipe: the color washes out very quickly, especially if you wash jeans in an automatic machine.

How to whiten jeans? Simple recipes

Pour two glasses of whiteness into ten liters of water. Use a bucket or basin. Place the mixture on the stove and heat until bubbles appear. Place a product or fabric there. Make sure that not a single edge remains dry and nothing sticks out of the water when boiling. Stir the fabric with slow, sweeping strokes for more even whitening. Determine the degree of doneness by color. Overexposure means thinning of the fabric. Take out the white garment and rinse under cold running water until the last residues of color come off along with the whiteness solution. If the fabric is not completely or unevenly bleached, repeat the procedure in a new solution.
You can slightly lighten jeans in a gentle mode if, when washing with powder, add a pack of soda to hot water (take about half a kilogram). The longer you wash, the lighter the color will be. There are people who add this amount of soda when washing machine, but they shorten the service life of the equipment in this way.

The procedure is carried out in strong, whole household gloves. Examine them carefully before using: holes or cuts will cause serious damage to the skin of the hands.

Sometimes lemon juice or citric acid is added instead of soda.
like bleach. Two large spoons, or about a quarter of a medium cup, of this wonderful product should be added to the powder compartment when machine washable in hot water. However, peroxide should be handled with extreme caution; it easily corrodes fabric and plastic equipment.

Whitening can be done partially. If you leave folds on the jeans, pinch small areas with clothespins or rubber bands, you can get very interesting effects.

The question of how to whiten jeans does not imply an unambiguous answer, because it all depends on the needs of a person, how radically he wants to change the look of jeans.

How to dye jeans at home with hair dye?

If you want to radically change the color of denim clothes, then at home you can resort to such a simple and affordable tool as.

Always wear gloves.
To be sure, practice bleaching and dyeing on a small area of fabric first.
Dry your clothes naturally - away from batteries and radiators.

Both soluble and water-insoluble substances act as blue. To paint jeans, you need to purchase a soluble dye. It can be indigo carmine, Prussian blue, soluble Parisian blue, blue aniline dyes. Prussian blue dissolves in water only in the presence of oxalic acid. Aniline dyes are usually the most expensive. They have good coloring power, but they can discolor in the sun. Some aniline dyes turn red after using the iron. Among the aniline dyes that are suitable for the production of blue: methyl, methylene and wool blue.

Ultramarine is an insoluble type of blue. This is a fairly cheap product. You should be aware that soluble dyes color the fabric much more evenly than insoluble dyes.

You need to make a blue solution in accordance with the instructions on the package. After all, some things get stained during washing in blue, and some during rinsing. The approximate consumption of blue is as follows: 0.3 grams per 1. Stir the powder in cold water and then pour the mixture into warm water. When painting, the following rule works: the richer you want the shade, the less water should be.

To dye jeans, soak them in the solution for at least two hours. After that, simply dry.

Before painting, be sure to wash your jeans: they must be absolutely clean. Dip the jeans in a container of blue in the flattened state. If they don't fit, fold them in half. In this case, make sure the water soaks the jeans evenly, as there is a risk that they will become unevenly stained. Jeans should not protrude from the pelvis.

Try to dissolve all blue clots in water. If they do not diverge, pour warm water on them (+ 30 ° С). If you want your jeans to appear more saturated, leave them in the basin for not two hours, but overnight.

If you want the paint to firmly set, add a couple of rounded tablespoons of table salt to the blue solution. You can fix the paint by rinsing your jeans in a vinegar solution. This should be done after the blue jeans have been soaked. Pour in 5 tablespoons. vinegar in 10 liters of water. If the fixing power is insufficient, increase the amount of vinegar. Note that blue fades very quickly. Most likely, after a couple of washings, the painting will need to be repeated.

The most resistant are water-based acrylic paints. They can be easily diluted with water. But they are washed off until the moment of the first drying. After that, it will be difficult to wash the thing. Acrylic paints come in a very wide range of shades.

If you don’t like jeans that are too light or have faded out over the summer, there is an opportunity to return them to their previous color. Paint! There are several ways to dye jeans blue at home. Let's find out which ones.

How to dye jeans blue
