Origin of the name

The nickname Benedict comes from Byzantium. In ancient times it was a diminutive, shortened form of the Latin male name Benedictus.

general characteristics

Raising little Benya will only bring joy to his parents. The “blessed” baby grows up in a calm and cozy atmosphere, never shows aggression or nervousness, does not start crying and screaming, and normally perceives refusals and remarks.

The boy is very inquisitive, at the age of “why” he literally falls asleep with his questions about those around him, the things of his elders that are incomprehensible to him, sometimes putting them in trouble. As a schoolboy, Benedict does not try very hard to study, but bad grades in his diary are rare.

Once he gets carried away by some activity, Ben is able to involve other guys in the process, so interesting does any business seem to those around him in his hands.

The boy constantly makes new friends and can freely approach an unfamiliar child and speak first. When communicating with other guys, Benechka is not constrained; he is extremely talkative and finds interesting topics for conversation.

Positive character traits

Little Benechka grows into a calm and balanced man. No rude or ignorant person is capable of making him emotional.

The owner of a lucky name is an avid tourist-naturalist. He is seriously interested in fishing and loves going to the forest to pick mushrooms and berries.

Growing up, a guy acquires the stubbornness and perseverance necessary in the business sphere. He will never deviate from his principles and will defend ideals to the last.

Benedict is efficient and reliable. He will complete any assigned task without delay; such a subordinate is the dream of any employer.

Negative character traits

Benyasha behaves cautiously with girls, afraid of meeting a mercantile lady. Unfortunately, the boy is not very picky about people, and therefore often falls for girlish tricks, becoming a toy in the wrong hands. The bearer of the blessed nickname often chooses as a wife an unworthy partner, whose family life does not go well and ends in divorce.

Benedict does not strive to build a successful career; he is used to being content with little and is distrustful of any innovations and changes in the workplace. In addition, a guy’s careful attitude towards money often makes him stingy in the eyes of others; people sometimes think that he is greedy.

Since ancient times, people have been participating in various kinds of competitions. Men have always boasted of their strength to women. Why was this done? Because the stronger a person is, the healthier he is, and the better his offspring will be. In ancient times this rule worked. Now - not always, due to the rapid development of pharmacology. Today, any person can be artificially made strong by pumping him up with special drugs. But the consequences of this will not be the best. But there are also natural strongmen. Their distinctive feature is in their character: they are kind and always cheerful. As they say now, charismatic personalities. There has long been a saying about such people: the more people, the kinder.

Now these guys no longer compete in lifting stones or horses (although there are such competitions), but in lifting a barbell. The three main exercises that are included in modern powerlifting competitions are:

  • barbell squats;
  • bench press from the chest;
  • deadlift (or, as it is officially called, Deadlift).

Heavyweights say among themselves that exactly one exercise separates a boy from a man - the deadlift of a barbell over 400 kilograms.

Benedikt Magnusson: height, weight, life story

The hero of our story today has a unique charisma with his height of 183 centimeters and weight of about 175 kilograms. This unusually strong man set the world record in deadlift three times, bringing it to 465 kg. Meet Benedikt Magnusson. In his homeland of Iceland, he is called Benedicht, and in powerlifting circles he has a simple, cheerful nickname - Benny. What should a little boy do in a cold island country, where there is only the sea around and a bunch of stones? Of course, pick them up and throw them. This is what Benedict and his friends did as a child: who would throw the farthest and who would lift the most. While skiing, the boy suffered a back injury. Surprisingly, it was from this moment that real life began, which Benedikt Magnusson loves to remember. The athlete's biography is replete with achievements.

First achievements

At the age of 16, he came to the gym for the first time to heal his back, and the trainer advised him to lift a barbell to strengthen his back muscles and intervertebral discs. Weighing 140 kg, Benedikt Magnusson immediately pulled 120 kg, and after a couple of days - already 180 kg. At the age of twenty, the young man received the title of the strongest man in his homeland of Iceland. Benny's brother Magnus Magnusson is also a professional powerlifter.

World record holder

Powerlifting has its own associations and weight categories. Benedikt Magnusson (deadlift 460 kg) competes only in the heavyweights at 120 kg. His personal weight ranged from 140 to 175 kg. In 2005, Benny was already lifting a winning 440 kg. In competition, Magnusson was fifth twice, in 2006 and 2008. Training hard, the heavyweight was very popular with the fans, captivating them not only with the weights he lifted, but also with his unique energy and childish enthusiasm at his performances. In 2011, Benedikt Magnusson became famous for his world record deadlift of 460 kilograms (without additional equipment, without straps and support overalls). He later broke his record by lifting 5 kg more weight.

What is Benedikt Magnusson doing today?

Due to a quadriceps muscle injury, Benny stopped training and performing. Heavy loads always carry a huge risk of injury. Benny started selling sports nutrition and equipment. His record was eventually broken (Eddie Hall from the USA reached the coveted milestone of 500 kg). But Benny will long be remembered by everyone for his kind and cheerful smile. He still pulled the tires of a Hummer weighing 500 kg, although this is not included in the professional standard. Benedikt Magnusson's best achievement in the squat with a barbell is 380 kg, bench press - 220 kg without equipment. Benedict has now recovered from the injury and continues to train, intending to regain the title of world record holder. This cheerful big man found himself the same wife, who is similar to him even in appearance and is also involved in powerlifting. In her homeland, Gemma was awarded the title “The Strongest Woman in Great Britain.” This family in Iceland has its own gym, “Super Bench,” where the couple holds powerlifting competitions.

Since ancient times, the Slavs also held various heroic competitions in festive squares. This tradition has been preserved to this day. Our athletes are again approaching world achievements in modern heroic games and powerlifting. After all, it’s very spectacular when giant guys rush around, with childish fervor, lifting, throwing and carrying weights that are not at all childish.

Benedikt Magnusson is a powerlifter, strongman and world champion deadlifter. This hero of our review received incredible strength indicators. Height is 183 cm, and weight is from 160 to 180, depending on training. His record is so great that until today no one has yet broken these incredible numbers. The athlete has repeatedly proven that he is the strongest person in the deadlift. He was able to lift 460 kilograms without the use of equipment or straps. All the most interesting things are in our article.

Our champion was born in Iceland in 1983. Meet the unique Benedikt Magnusson. In the circle of strength sports he is often called Benny. Like all athletes in cold climates, they love to play sports. Since childhood, “Benedicht” loved to throw and push huge stones, where he often won against his peers. Believe it or not, our future champion suffered a back injury as a child. And powerlifters know that in the deadlift the main load goes directly to the back muscles. It was here that the real struggle began in the biography of our champion.

At the age of 16, the young guy came to his first gym to heal his sore back. His trainer advised him to do this to strengthen his intervertebral discs. In 2016, the organizers of the World Deadlift Championships planned an assault on the crazy 500 kilograms in the deadlift. Unfortunately, ironically, the first person who was able to lift 500 kgEddie Hall. Benedikt Magnusson was only able to lift 465 kilograms, and only lifted 500 in one attempt.

What are Benedict's plans now?

So far, the athlete is recovering to full strength due to a quadriceps injury. The doctor prohibited huge loads due to the high risk of serious back injury. While treatment was underway, he decided to start selling his sports nutrition. Even though the Hummer tires weighed 500 kg, the athlete still pulled. Magnusson is known as a man with a kind soul.
